So sorry for the late reply... Yes, that is the address for the original. It is located in Old Bangkok and close to a few different landmarks. They are open everyday except for Tuesdays from 9am to 12am. Cheers!

Interesting. I thought Thipsamai was one of the worst pad thais I've ever had. It had the worst fishy / prawn taste to it and the noodles were dry when I had it. I couldn't even finish it. I just go to any lady cooking pad thai on Samsen Road and it is unbelievably good. I much prefer a wok hay / smokey flavor with charred bits, with saucy, sweet and very tender and moist noodles. Most random places on Samsen road or Rambuttri road near Khao San Road make it like that and I find it way, way better than Thipsamai. Fai Ta Lu is #1. Nice and sweet, smokey and charred.

I don't disagree with the wok hay and going to Samsen Road... the version that I had from Thipsamai at the mall was too sweet, but the one at Pratupee was really good. A friend told me about another place at Pratupee that is supposed to be even better. Let me know if you come across a good spot!

@@dinausria8777 That is a good question! I had the shrimp pad Thai, so not sure if that qualifies... however, there are many halal places to eat. I would gladly try any of them!

Now, I see I'm not the only one. I had thipsamai padthai at King Duty Free shop in Victory Monument since it is very near to my hotel. I went there just to have a hint of what I could expect from its original location in Maha Chai road, because I believe they must use the same sauce which gives the pad thai the most basic flavor . I was extremely disappointed because it was actually the worst pad thai I ever had in thailand. It was all about sweet, sweet , sweet, and no other flavor. I decided not to visit the original Thipsamai in Maha Chai road later on. The basic sauce is already not acceptable for my palate, so why should I believe Thipsami in Maha Chai will be different ? Actually the O.K Pad Thai in China town at night is sooo much better and is really good. The O.K pad Thai started selling pad thai over 40 years ago I think. I prefer Fei Ta Lu over Thipsamai. You need to put a lot of lemon juice to thipsamai's to reduce the overpowering prawn taste.

100% agree. Fai Ta Lu is #1. Nice and sweet, smokey and charred. It's perfect. Thipsamai was dry and tasted like seafood. Made me want to puke.
