The m6 and m7 sacrifices the extremely bright and fast f1.8-f2.8 aperture on the m1-m5 for longer zoom. IMHO its only the "best" if you need the zoom. The m5 is a much better camera if you can live with 24-70mm equivalent.

Those two cameras aren't even close to being the same as this. Both cameras you listed are fixed focal length cameras with worse AF that you have to work around. And don't even think about shooting video with those cameras... Don't get me wrong, they're fun to shoot, and you'll likely get better image quality from them (and they start up faster too), but saying that they're light years ahead is just plain wrong. I mean heck, this has hardware from the Sony A9 in it.

This is the best secondary camera in existence. When I travel I take my Full Frame with a fast prime lens (usually my 35mm f/1.4) and the RX100 vii. There is almost no situation where I can't get a good photo. Some of my best photos I've ever taken were from the RX100 vii. You also forget to mention the built in flash which can be nice to have.
@Oleg_K.2 ай бұрын
How do you protect it from dust? I've read that some people complain about dust particles getting into the lens. Does it take filters or a lens cover?
@duvalpenny1002 ай бұрын
@@Oleg_K. I don't protect it from dust lol. Unfortunately a little dust just gets in there. It's inevitable with normal use. Same goes with all externally zooming lenses. But a little dust won't even be noticable. If for some reason I got a ton of dust in there, I'd send it off for cleaning.
@Oleg_K.2 ай бұрын
@@duvalpenny100 The only thing preventing me from getting this camera is the fear of having the lens suck up dust rendering the camera unusable. I'd want to have every day and take it absolutely everywhere with me. As an owner of one, do you have any thoughts that could help me decide?
@duvalpenny1002 ай бұрын
@@Oleg_K. I carry mine everyday. It's always on me. I always carry a peak design 3L sling that houses both my A7C and RX100 comfortably. Currently the rx100 has a miniscule amount of dust in it. It has also been to 3 different countries with constant use so it seems to be pretty well protected from dust considering how little dust is in there for how much I use it. (I guess me carrying it in a camera bag as opposed to my pocket is a form of dust protection) I will say. I wouldn't want to carry it daily in my pocket with no protection at all though. Pocket lint gets everywhere eventually. I've definitely carried it in my pocket on occasion and I'm not afraid to do it, but I wouldn't recommend doing it all the time. At the end of the day, it's a tool and it should be used as such. I will definitely get my money's worth by the time I'd need to get it cleaned for dust. If I lost this camera today, I'd buy another one tomorrow.

No it’s not the best point/shoot camera. I used this camera for a few weeks before returning it. It’s too slow to start up from power-off - takes a few seconds for the lens to open. Therefore I missed many shots. Also the images are noisy in any environment that’s not bright daylight. It is a sharp-looking pocket camera, but not a practical street camera, at least for me.
@kylemsguy_Ай бұрын
I mean it's the best P&S camera with a 24-200mm equiv super zoom. The slow start up and power off are a bit annoying for sure though. For street shooting I'd rather take the Ricoh GR III/x, or Fuji X100. Or just use my phone.
