I tried the AI last season for a month and also chose a team that I would have played. The AI was down against my choice by 28 points, plus I found the game to be really boring to play. Mixing of the two may have been better, but I'll stick to making my own choices just for the fun of it. I'll probably be sitting at the 3mil mark, come the end of the season, and eat my own words.

The only issue I have with the AI is that it fails to pick the "diamonds in the rough" players. Those players that add considerable more points than their price/predicted points accounts for. This season, I think Havertz and Nkunku are 2 of those players. Havertz will score close to Watkins (who massively overperformed last season along w/ Gordon) this season for 1.5M less.

That's where the human element comes into play! As Holly and I explained in the video we'd never just blindly follow AI, that takes out the fun of FPL. However I use it regularly as a barometer for if my decisions are relatively logical or not. - Jack

My 98% team has 70pts GW1 with a 96% for GW1. And it includes 3 of the players that I think are severely under-valued: Trent, Nkunku, and Havertz. I think Bobb at MC could have a breakout season as well. Still not sure his minutes will be consistent enough to justify over a nailed starter, but I see it as a possibility.

I think the AI team would be improved by replacing Turner with Virginia: 1. Turner has such high ownership his price is likely to drop 2. If Pickford gets injured in the warm up, or wakes up with flu and Dyche doesn't tell us you're covered 3. Turner is probably 3rd choice keeper so is unlikely to play even if the first choice keeper gets injured The AI might not include these things but the change should make absolutely no difference to projected points (you can make a case for the AI should rate Virginia higher because as a 2nd choice he should have more expected minutes than a 3rd choice keeper even if it is only something like 1 minute). Will you make considerations like this when selecting the final AI team?

unlikely, most people don't even watch FPL youtube content let alone go and seek out the AI tools. If you took the unique viewers across FPL Scout, FF Hub, LTFPL, FPL Harry, FPL Wire who watch regularly I reckon it would be pretty low as a % of FPL players, even as a proportion of players who maintain their teams all season it's probably low.

So seeing how the rules say that you're only allowed one team, when you say you're going to "run this team", are you saying you're intending to run it live as an FPL entrant/competitor? If so, are we to see one of the FPL elites banned for running two teams? I completely disagree with this increasing blanket use of AI technology in general, bringing it to FPL on such a huge scale will ruin any sense of fun competition in the long run. The average engaged player, let alone the casual, now has to compete with the 100,000 FPLAndy's, the 50,000 FPLmates, the 100,000 FPLRaptors, as many of their followers clone their teams week after week. I've heard frustrated legacy FPL content providers comment how difficult it is to compete against the cloning masses, usually when they're not doing so well. We will soon have 5 million AI perfect teams to compete with as people simply follow the robotic template rather than put any effort in themselves. The dystopian future of FPL is here.

This is very intriguing, but ultimately distracting. This team looks great, but the very human part of me looks at that massive Haaland-shaped hole in attack and struggles to be happy with it. I've gone through about eight drafts so far for the coming season, each one typically coming after watching one of these videos. Some have Haaland, some Salah - and even one without either of them. It is possible to get them both into the same team but despite my Haaland+Salah team effort scoring a decent AI rating of 92%, I was left feeling the team was too unbalanced and risky. My current draft (with Haaland) is at 96%. All round, it FEELS stronger, and for me, I guess that has to be the deciding factor.

Pickford to Flekken and then Pedro to Muniz and that’s a good team, although going Haaland-less is screaming risky and potential early wildcard if he starts well. Best of luck!

I keep hearing this, but if you go no Haaland, it has to be because you feel Salah + 2.5M gets you more points than Haaland - 2.5M. Period. He very well score the most FPL points this season, but that isn't the point of the game.

Haaland GW2 is why so many people are picking him. However, the math is STRONGLY on the side of a No Haaland over the course of a full season. 15M is just too much for 1 player.

Does the AI account for captaincy pick? I think Haaland being at home against Ipswich rather than Salah away has a much higher ceiling. Isak could easily cover salahs points in gw1 too. If salah isnt the best captain over the first 2 gw then is he the best premium?

I think it's because he's a penalty taker, there's not too much else I can think of. I have had him a few times in my drafts, might even have him when the season starts but I think I'm leaning towards Muniz, then I can swap to Pedro easier if the AI is right

It’s because he has had great data in the past. The Ai algorithm doesn’t take into account injuries, transfers, current form etc. It is purely based on data from previous seasons.

So copying it gets you into the top 1%: great, but it's not your team, is it? Where's the achievement in using some 'AI' tool to romp your mini-league ahead of more casual opponents?

Too many comments, sorry. But I question how this AI works. The team I have picked has a higher Team Rating and a Higher Predicted Pts and a near perfect GW rating every GW (except for 5) all the way through mid season at least (GW19). And that is easily fixed by banking a couple of xfers for a 1wk punt.

It’s not cheating. It’s purely based on previous seasons’ stats. It doesn’t take into account injuries, players falling out of favour with managers, new players transferred in and how that affects teams, or current form. I completely ignore it as it is just so limited.

The more the AI models advance, the more FPL will be ruined with everyone just following AI. I understand the interest in the early days of AI predictions but i don't think the endgame is understood - which is the end of FPL as an interesting game

Like mentioned in other threads, the AI doesn't take into account social media, eyeball test, etc. Players like Nkunku this year, Palmer last year, etc.... it can't account for them and those are the ones that usually make the difference.

How is AI not cheating? I’d quite like the hosts to comment? I’m taking nothing away from fantasy football hub as accessing and using data to make your decisions is fine. The key statement here is that they are your own decisions. If you transfer players because AI has selected them then 2 things could happen. You get points you don’t quite deserve or even worse - what if your original pics do better in a GW? Then you are annoyed. I love all content online plus stats to help me make decisions but I’m staying well clear of AI. What if you win your mini league then tell your mates AI did your transfers each week? Not for me. What a season this will be with the new prices. No need for AI but I understand why you have to promote it 😊

It’s not ai! It’s a man made algorithm used to predict points, and the the ai rating etc just uses a database to compare your team vs the algorithm’s picks. The updates are man made upgrades to the man made algorithm. Please stop lying! This is a rate my team tool, these have existed for over a decade, and reviews rate my team is a million times more accurate than hubs.

This is not true. How can a tool that picks a team, from scratch, be a "rate my team tool"? It isn't AI in the sense that most think of it now (generative AI), but it is AI in the sense of machine learning and optimization solving (max points) w/ constraints (3 players from a team, 5 midfield, 100M, etc).

It is programmed to know the constraints and to pick the highest scoring team possible based on the man made algorithm, there is no machine learning, it simply performs a series of actions that it has been programmed to, and presents an outcome I.e. the highest scoring team based on the algorithm. If you want to define AI as being a program that follows a set of man made parameters and programs to arrive at an outcome fair enough, but this is not how the vast majority of ppl think of AI. I also highly doubt this what FPLhub think AI is, so this is essentially false advertising on their part. Also, why are FPLhub the only site to claim their rate my team tool uses AI? Literally all rate my team tools like Fplflix or fplreview also do all these same things and indeed more in the case of review, but they don’t feel the need to claim they are based on AI?
