Potato dauphinoise is seriously one of the best comfort dishes in the world. This recipe is slightly different in the technique to what you might usually see from other recipes and this technique used trumps any other way. In this one, we create an infusion from heating cream, garlic and thyme together which creates incredible flavour and aroma and also helps reduce cooking times. This potato dauphinoise recipe is ready to be paired with for all of your favourite proteins or sat in the middle of your Christmas lunch and, or dinner. Please enjoy.

Marinated Leg of Ham in the BBQ. Sweetened with delicious flavours of molasses or honey and spices we have it every Xmas. It’s divine my husband is a butcher so he has gorgeous recipes to cook ham. Love to see what you can come with Jack? 😊

I made this last night. I poured some of the excess liquid off after removing the foil and parchment. I think that helped it firm up and slice easier. Excellent recipe. I will be making it again for sure!

We do make a similar dish each christmas, bt for boxing day with cold meats and salads, but this looks soooo good. I am drooling just thinking of it. It will be on my Christmas table this year,

Mum always made this when I was a kid. I just didn't know the name of the dish. All I remember was potatoes going in, and it began with D. Mum passed away last year, and the recipe was buried with her. I'm so glad I came across this channel. I'm going to try it. Hope it tastes like mums ❤

@@marcusrebane7418 I've made duck once at home, about 50 years ago when I had a rotisserie given to me as a prezzie. I can't remember what sauce I did. It was very good, but I never made it again, c'uz the rotisserie was a nightmare to clean. I in fact gave the rotisserie away after that. I want some easy method to cook this and not a lot of clean up.

Sorry to say, this dish can be left out lol,your childhood was amazing absolutely fun, mine wasn't that good but I am grateful for what my parents had at that time, you must have developed great skills in the kitchen,I'm sure that must have enhanced your cooking skills, on a skill of 1 to 10 how would you rate your cooking skills? for me I would say low number,I don't do pretty well in the kitchen but I do try my best, if you do not mind I will love for us to talk more, maybe I could steal some knowledge from you, what's a better medium where we can communicate,do you have telegram?

@@DameTremonti I'll usually make myself lamb chops, while I make him something else great, but, it's not the same as a leg of lamb roasting in the oven for the afternoon, with all the glorious smells. Leg of lamb was always my go to birthday dinner I asked for, growing up. We're old in our '70's and it's just too much food to make just for me. Even on Thanksgiving, he likes turkey, me not so much, so I made him a turkey breast, and for myself, a really good Chicken Kiev...the same sides work for both, that way everyone is happy. Everyone should get a meal they look forward to, that is memorable.

This is a very nice version of potato dauphinoise and a very good video. Brilliant if you’ve not cooked it before. 👏👏 The original recipe, I was told is without cheese, nor thyme, though brilliant idea of yours, uses a bit more garlic and is easier to make. You just layer thin peeled potatoes, add salt and pepper, garlic sprinkles and a few knobs of butter on each layer. Then pour cold double cream at least 3/4 through the dish when you’ve reached the end of your layers and serve as an accompaniment to roast lamb or beef or even a steak or ham…too strong for fish…

How about Crab Cakes with a Remoulade Sauce, that is Michelin star worthy? Something refined that Chef Jean Georges or Thomas Keller would be proud to serve....great taste is the primary goal, NOT the perfect plating that they would serve. I always order it when it's on the menu, and usually majorly disappointed. Even my own efforts, I would give myself a grade B. I have had two great crab cakes, one in Half Moon Bay, CA and the other amazingly at the airport in SFO. -- Greetings from Ft.Worth, Texas.

@@ChefJackOvens Awww, bless you. Again, don't worry about uptown perfect plating, not important. Taste is what's important, that we can all duplicate for our family...patty and sauce and call it done sitting on a few pieces butter lettuce or micro grains...something foolproof, that we can duplicate for our festivities. I've tried so many versions, my hubbie doesn't want me to even try anymore. Jumbo lump is expensive, but totally worth it when it's just right.

Every oven is different and sometimes doesn't show correct heat. If there not cooked, just leave them in for another 20-30 minutes. If the sauce looks like its drying, add a little liquid
