By far, my favorite freeze dried food company. You have to remember that some of the meats are fully cooked and some are raw. The raw meats should be rehydrated in cold water and then cooked as you would any raw meat. Rehydrating in boiling water or hot water would be like poaching or boiling a raw chicken breast, steak, or burger. Those foods can easily be turned into a 5 star meal.

"Those foods can easily be turned into a 5 star meal." Yeah, i´m gonna call horseshit on that! Knowing how americans eat, i have my doubts when someone says something is "yummy"! If we go to the supermarket (especially large ones) the shelfs are packed with freeze dried de-hydrated stuff and soups from abroad. Occasionally we buy one to try, especially those that show on TV, from America. And boy... that stuff is horrible!! The taste is absolutely horrid! I´m from southern Europe, and we eat mostly mediterranean diet. When i see how americans eat, i always wonder what the hell happened to your taste buds! 😆

Garden and Freeze Drying- I think I have come up with a good way to maximize my garden for prepping. Lettuce, Kale, Komatsuna, Spinach, Moringa, etc. are all quick growing nutrient packed plants. But they spoil quickly, and are difficult to store. So basically I'm making my own super food powder. Freeze dry or dehydrate, then into blender for powder. Finally into capsules with a cheap capsule machine. Great long term nutrient supplement to go with beans and rice!

When I was in the Army over 30 years ago we had freeze dried foods. Mostly meats like pork chops and steak. I was a Mess Sergeant in Germany. My cooks always complained that the pork chops were too dry and everyone hated them. Being unfamiliar with freeze dried meats I did some research. I found that if you rehydrated them and put them in a refrigerator on a sheet pan over night to allow them to completely rehydrate they were just like fresh pork chops. We cooked them and then put them in gravy. Troops loved them. By the way guess where I found out how to prepare them. ON THE CAN. Like they say read the label and follow directions.

Nate, I have an old HR freeze drier similiar to the one you have. I've freeze dried steaks, corned beef, fish fillets, chicken breasts, salmon steaks, every imaginable vegstable, etc. with it for years with no problems. The key to meats is to keep the sliced thickness down to no more than a 1/2" thickness, preferably slightly less. So if you own a freeze drier, you can make all this yourself! Fatty meats such as sausage just needs to be cooked prior to freeze drying to remove most of the fats, Just finished a bucket of pork loin steaks.

Expensive AF, but when you compare it to a $4k freeze dryer, you can get about 100 packs of freeze dried food, which is roughly 30k calories, which is about 2 weeks of food for one person. So in the end it's definitely better to just buy a freeze dryer and get cheap food to build your stockpile imo. $4k for a freeze dryer + $4k worth of food. If you use the USDA guide which says 2k calories can be obtained at the bare minimum of $7, let's use $10 to be safe, then for $8k investment you've got 400 days of food, which is roughly 13 months, for the same $8k you could buy one month of food from freeze dry wholesaler.

That’s why I’m only buying the proteins. And buying heritage seeds from other places. GMO seeds are a terrible investment. They are created so you can’t harvest the seeds and replant. They also cross pollinate with NON GMO seeds and take over. Building an air tight green house with foyers and will be forced to hand pollinate.

I recently paid $18 for an El Pollo Loco dinner. Same is true for Panda Express. I do not find the price exorbitant for good freeze dried. I paid $40 for Augason eggs that taste like crap! Just came from site the potatoes are not $40.

@@ceoatcrystalsoft4942 Or you pay for what you can afford. This food is no better than freeze drying it at home. $5,000.00 to be able to freeze dry for life or spend the rest of your life paying off the debt to purchase this overpriced full chicken breast. I raise my own chickens and 1 of our chicken breasts can feed 7 people.

We are actually looking to purchase a freeze drier this year. Canned food is good to have but heavy. We get plenty of rain here so water isn't a problem. Also we are getting a proper water filter. Hoping to buy a house this year then will start all this, pray the sheep doesn't hit the whirlybird before that though :( Just super broke atm. We are actually rotating stock now, not going shopping until we have consumed the stuff we need to use. Kinda like an apocalypse training I guess :)

I like the new freeze dried foods that you’re featuring on this video. They look like a great occasional treat after TSHTF. I would recommend trying to rehydrate the chicken and other thick meats with a pressure cooker. It’s faster than steaming, uses less water and helps to tenderize the food. You’ll also get more flavor retention from pressure cooking than from boiling. Thanks for sharing.

Just found you today. I'm just beginning my prepping inventory for shtf. I've stuff ready & my 1st emergency meal order will be arriving Wednesday (it is of a 15 year shelf life) & got my wishlist on Amazon for MRE & even astronaut food and just found out about freeze dry today and was adding as I was watching/listening to you. According to nuke map my area is just outside immediate risk zone of a nuke (disintegration of closer & 3rd degree burn for further yet potentially fatal)BUT danger continues due to fallout so my area will be among the 1st to get fallout poisoning btw anything for pets (icon) of MRE or freeze dry etc ?
