Believe it or not I've had more interviews using a 1 page CV with a professional summary. It's short, sweet and definitely concise. I know during interviews that some employers have wondered "What's this guy's deal?" or "Do they know what they're doing here?". The professional summary, for me, is the punch. It's the answer, shows my intentions without giving it all away. Love it!

Thank you for this advice and the useful tips and examples! I had applied to jobs with my resume before, but hardly got any responses back. I watched this video and applied it to my resume - updating it with each new application, as suggested. I did all of this yesterday. Today, I received two calls asking to set up an interview with me this week! I am so overly excited and grateful for this advice. And it was fun to change it up with each new application, to see what I could add that fit the job description. I’ll try to come back here after the interviews/when I find out more.

Update 1: I had my first interview with the first company today. It overall went really well, seems to match what I’m looking for in my next job, and even the interviewer said he would highly recommend me to the controller who’s going the hiring. (It’s for an accountant position, which I’ve been dreaming of getting into for years.)

@@kvcharles4425 Sadly the company ghosted me. I did a weekly follow up for the first 3 weeks, and repeatedly got told that “something else came up, and they haven’t had a chance to call for the second interview”. It’s been a month since the last time I called, and I never heard anything else. But I’m still looking!

Erin this was so thoughtful of you. I love what you said, and about bridging the game. It have been tough for me for years to create my own resume because I felt all of my fiends can create resumes for me when at times they don't know everything that I have done leaving me unsatisfied with the results, yet appreciative. I wanted to really tell employers what I can offer from my passionate expressive self. Nevertheless, I am still working on my resume and will let you know the outcome from your videos. No one has had ever too the time to show me, nor have I ever asked. They just do it for me.

I am currently in Law Enforcement wanting to get a medical/dental receptionist job. I have no medical or dental experience whatsoever. 🎯 Key points for quick navigation: 00:15 *Professional summaries at the top of resumes significantly increase chances of getting into the "yes" pile when well-written* 00:43 *Common mistake: Using excessive industry jargon that wouldn't sound natural in conversation* 01:12 *Focus on demonstrating value to the company rather than stating you're seeking experience* 01:42 *Companies want to know how you'll bring value - it's a business exchange, not a charitable relationship* 02:08 *Use industry-appropriate action verbs: caring for nanny roles, detail-oriented for copywriting, collaborative for filmmaking* 02:37 *New graduates should use "[industry] professional" as their title, followed by relevant experience* 03:19 *Include "Specialties include" section with relevant keywords from the job description* 03:48 *Example summary structure: "[Action verb] [job title] with [X] years of experience in [specific area]"* 04:17 *For career transitions, emphasize transferable skills and relevant experience from previous roles* 04:44 *Consider mentioning the company name in your summary to show targeted interest* 04:59 *Utilize AI tools like ChatGPT, Canva AI, and Copy.ai to help craft your professional summary* 05:27 *The goal is to help qualified candidates who may lack resume writing skills get fair consideration for roles* Made with HARPA AI

Hi Erin, I'm 50 and work in an allied health profession closely aligned with fitness. I strongly suspect that by claiming my 20+ years of experience I am dooming my resume to the "NO" pile. I'm aware that ageism is illegal ( in most professions) yet I believe that I have lost opportunities because of it. Any ideas for navigating this?
@d3m3treeM
@d3m3treeM 5 ай бұрын
whatever the job youre applying to asks for is what you should write. if you have 20 years exp but the job requirement is 4+ years then you say you have 4+ years or 5+ years.. dont age yourself if you can help it. take off any graduation dates and dont go back too far on job experience. difficult to do if youve worked at one company for 20 years but maybe you earned a promotion somewhere midway.. just list the dates of the time you held the promotion instead of all 20.

How many lines should it be? What text size should I use on Google Dox? Because size 11 with minimal format feels too big and doesn't give me space for my Pro Summary or my Educational Background. Also, why do u charge money for ur Resume Guide even tho u claim both in ur vids and description that you do NOT sell Career Coaching or Resume Writing Services? Also, this is the internet ALL INFORMATION should be FREE!! Just cuz others do it doesn't mean u have to as well.
