I think 2 good additions would be the "Sound Direction Indicator" mod, particularly for those who are hard of hearing, and those who prefer not to play with with headphones. And secondly, the "Simple Crafting" mod which allows you to craft Thread into Yarn, Yarn into Twine, and vice versa, but which _CRUCIALLY_ allows the player to craft Sheets from 1 unit of Thread and 8 Ripped sheets with a needle. If they don't add "Simple Crafting" to the game i feel like another good choice would be allowing the player to block window LOS with Garbage Bag + Any Tape, Newspaper + Tape, or perhaps more cleverly, just Newspaper + Bottled Water, as all you need to make newspaper stick to glass is to soak it in water then evenly press it onto the glass like film, and as it dries it would essentially adhere it's self to the glass. Oh, now that i'm thinking about it, also they really should make the "Gun Suicide" mod part of the base game. I'm not just saying this for vulgarity/edginess's sake, hear me out. When you die normally from Zombies, wether being eaten alive, bitten then dying, or bitten then bleaching yourself, no matter what your Corpse is going to get up and walk away once it reanimated into a Zombie. Potentially F'ing off with your only Military bag, stuffed with good loot and weapons. If you choose to wash your mouth out with buckshot, however, your corpse won't get up and walk away. Plus, i think it's fairly well balanced as going to gun-route is decidedly louder than the silent bleach method, so you're choosing between having your valuable corpse walk away with your goodies, or having to fight your way through the zombies attracted to the sound of your hot lead injection. Anyways, if i think of more i'll post em. Edit: Thought of another one; The "Real Ladders" mods that allows you to use all pre-existing ladders in the game, as well as build/use your own is very nice. There used to be another Ladder-Mod called "Ladders?!" which also enabled the Fireman-Poles in the Firestations to be ridden down (and somewhat curiously, climbed back up, but i imagine that more of an engine/code issue), however that mod has since been broken by updates and much like the "True Actions" mod series will only function for ladders facing in certain directions, which is a bummer.

After a character has survived for like 1 month, he/she knows that bites are lethal, so if they don't have a syringe (because I also use the "They Knew" mod), they go back home, grab a gun, load a single shot, and takes the quick way out...then a 2nd character in the same world just shows up and picks up where they left off.

The Mini Health Panel provides a small UI of your character's body. When you're injured, the body part with the said injury will become red. You can directly right click that said part to bandage/disinfect it. And once the bandage is dirty, that part will become yellow instead.

One more mod I'd like to add to the list is "I don't need a lighter" mod It's a very handy mod, it allows you to use stove, antique stove, oven, campfire to light your cigarettes. It also adds a car lighter in your cars, like all 90s car should have. Immersion YO!

Spongie's open jackets does have an effect beyond aesthetics. An open jacket has less water and wind resistance and less insulation, allowing you to wear more protective clothing during the summer.

For anyone that wants to use the 4 color pen mod as strictly a QoL mod make sure you turn off Bicscalabur spawns in the options. Otherwise you will get one of the more ridiculous and powerful weapons added to loot tables. Also fuel side indicators was one of the very first mods I installed just because it makes sense. Another thing to consider if you play with friends is adding a kill count mod. It's nice to compare the types of weapons everyone uses.

It supposed to be extremely rare, but the first time I noticed the option, I found that monster in the trunk of a car maybe 5 minutes after starting a new game. I found another one not long after in a desk or something. It's pretty funny, but I didn't like it. Breaks my immersion lol

the 'moodle quarters' mod is really nice, because sometimes its just hard to tell the exact shade of red. 'is this stage 2? or is this 3?' but with this mod, the moodles gain corners with each stage, so now you can tell your state at a glance. especially good for the increased accessability

Crayons have an encumbrance of 0.4. This pen has 0.05, half of the regular red pen (which is the only pen I use), and it gives you a green color (which the crayons do not).

The mod that I love the most as a new player is a mod that adds a journal that lets you write down your earned skills and sorta "save" your progress. Another character or you as a new character can read them and regain lost skills. It adds some more progression and stuff to work towards. Plus its a crutch in a sense, but also can help if latency or lag gets you bitten if playing online

What I'd like to see is a mod that puts everything you are *wearing* in a separate inventory tab. The main inventory tab just fills up stuff, especially if you want to wear jewelry or underwear, because it's things you wear, things in your pockets and things you carry in your hands and wherever. Never seen a mod that does this, but if anyone knows, please let me know. I 100% think it should be a vanilla feature.

well being a Kentucky/Louisville resident I like to see see accuracy with clothing, vehicle's etc. so I highly recommend the Small-town Responders mod which adds police, EMS, Fire, Department of corrections, and postal service outfits and vehicle's within the game. it's really nice to for roleplay features as well as plain accuracy.

To know which books you already have at your base without any mods, simply colapse their menu pressing the small arrow they have on the left side of their name, this way when you find a book you already own, they will too be colapsed.

But also, how do you you make sure all unowned books are expanded to begin with? When I play all items are collapsed?

It's hard to add much to this, it covers pretty much all the good stuff Axes Reforged is one that is nice, it lets you cut the heads off broken axes and rehandle them by carving a new axe handle Exercise with Gear allows you to work out without taking off stuff like your bag and such, making it so you can work out without disorganizing the layout of your bags and such One that is right on the edge of QoL I feel is Bushcraft Tools. The stuff it adds just fits so well into the game and expands the options for Long Blades in a way that isn't ridiculous and just makes so much sense that it absolutely should be vanilla. Katanas on Belt and Back works really nicely with Bushcraft Tools and in general. It allows you to wear long blades on your hip in addtion to on your back, which honestly just makes sense.

My must have vanilla mods are: - Better sorting (explained in this video) - Manage containers. This was a game changer for me, from 50 clicks + 10 minutes sorting loot in base to 3 clicks and 15 seconds sorting loot. (Allows you too choose an item category for a container, then when near the container press "shift-transfer all" and it will put all the items from the selected categories in their respective containers leaving the items of the categories not selected in your inventory, items marked as favorites will not be moved) - Proximity Inventory. Allows for a globlal loot tab in you looting radius, you can force global tab or disable it easily in game. Works wonders with manage containers. Just by iteself saves tons of time when looting for example a warehouse, instead of clicking every box, just open global tab, grab what you need in your radius and continue. - Dissasemble containers with items. The items will automatically drop once the container is dissassembled, saves so much time in game and in real life, not more half a day in game dropping item on the floor from 30 lockers, just save those 40 repetitive clicks and that time. - Autosmoke. The character will smoke automatically when feeling anxious. It has saved me so much time, it has also a quick smoke button pressing "delete" if you want a preventive smoke before a big fight, it will automatically search for cigarretes and lighter in all your backpacks, light one and place them back. Also very nice to have: - Autocook - Autosewing - Automechanics All this mods allow me the same inmersion without the repetitive constant clicking for something you have done the same 500 times. I just cannot play project zomboid without them. Hope they help someone, some of them were absolute game changers for me.

I love the pantry packing mod, it’s perfect for my packrat play style. You can box up food items and they’ll weigh half as much. Great for saving storage space and they look cool if you place them around your safe house

My other half and I use a lot of these mods on our little private server, but others that we love that could fit into vanilla are Become Brave/Become Desensitized, Sleep On It, Better Belts (utility belts, anyone?), Welding Goggles, Two Weapons on Back, and Kitsune's Crossbows. A simple one we also recommend is Clearer Moodle Colors.

I can't believe you missed this one, but Manage Containers is a must-have. Another one that should be vanilla. Also works wonders with Better Sorting, and allows you to quickly transfer items into any container. Definitely try it out and remember to shift-click that transfer all button more often.

"General Container" allows you to look into all containers next to you. a really great help if you killed a few hundreds of Z and want to see if they have something nice. "Pumps have Propane" you can refill blowtorches and propane tanks at gas stations. "Stack All" allows you to combine some items. "Viperel's Recycling Center" dismantle all useless stuff to create useful stuff. and get some extra EXP.

-50% wood weight reduction is a must for all sandbox players that love building, it is absolutely ridiculous how much wood is needed to build a nice structure let alone barricade a building, that mod is simple yet awesome.

The weapon indicator mod was partly a part of at least the build 41 unstable branches before multiplayer. It was actually removed as before there was a star icon that showed durability but removed it I don't remember the exact reason why though, but pretty sure it was something to do with realism or not knowing exactly when your weapon is going to break in combat.

Whatever the indicator is, like text, color, or icons, they'd be something like... - *Fine* for 60-100% durability. - *Damaged* for 1-59%. "Fine" could go as low as 40%. But it's the same logic as using moodles instead of precise numeric indicators and bars. MAYBE add one more tier of durability, so all together it would be "Fine | Damaged | Battered | Broken"

“Keep That Radio ON!” Mod should be Vanilla. While there is global chat, voice chat, or even discord. If you wanted to use Radio for communication it’s non viable if you always have to have the radio equipped to hear messages. In situations like clearing buildings where you need to equip something else or two hand something your are going to miss conversations.

Moodle Quarters is a great mod that I think should be vanilla. In addition to turning darker green or red, the moodle also changes shape as it gets darker, with the full square being the biggest/most intense version of something. It'll allow you to know what the condition is at a glance much easier.

I love the draw on map mod. I don't use the symbols at all, I either scribble routes that are blocked, by-passable, heavy loot like generators, and cross off which houses I've been too. Handwriting everything feels much more immersive than pasting in a textbox with the same size and font every time.😊

That exists, I forget who it’s form but it’s the evolution mod, by default eventually zombies can have super hearing and really long memories, I’d recommend merging the hearing aspect, the rest can be tweaked with

The snow / rain collector bit is only fair if you take the realism of freezing weather in to account. With prolonged freezing temperatures, your rain collectors should realistically be frozen. If the devs address the snow bit, they'll probably also address the freezing bit. However, you should be able to walk outside and pick up snow from the ground to melt over heat, so water in the coldest part of the year would still be available, but the method of gathering it would change slightly.

Great video as always! in term of QoL, i would like to add Extrasauce Sac mod that lets you add shortcut to a container you have in the inventory or nearby, not quite realistic but a huge QoL and inv management since you now don't need to literally rummage your backpack to look for that one item in dire situation and sort stuff using a known containers

burnable corpses mod.. allows you to right click a campfire and burn corpses from your inventory. I find this allot easier than stockpiling the corpses on the campfire.

For something mod, that should be in vanilla.... Attaching some items to backpacks. There are a couple out there that do this (I use AuthenticZ) but the ability to attach a water bottle, med/lunch box and/or torch to your backpack (i'd say, the bigger the bag, the more you can attach) is reasonable. I mean....even back in the 90's, we had army surplus and hiking/backpacking shops that had specialist items and straps for those who wanted to carry their kit. Military packs would offer even more options like foldable shovel spots, army torch slots on the front (so you could clip an old army torch there and hands free light in the dark lol) canteens ect. And it still has weight, so that's the balancer.

5:17 not sure if its a mod I use? but I can draw in any color on the map, with crayons? Might be a byproduct of one of the map symbol/sizer mods I cant be sure. As for mods I use that I would say are top is (1) Moar Can Opener ( imo irl i use knives at times to open a can if you dont have a can opener ) I find it fitting. It even has random spillage etc which is great and fair. (2) Out the window is another... Oh and the mod I absolutely LOVE is (3) ZuperCart Again, with supermarkets etc around you would see people chugging stuff around with carts =) Those are my three favorites, along with a few of the ones you mentioned.

superb survivors is another great mod i always use. I just put the spawning rate to 4% and raised the chances to spawn aggressive npc's. Made the game much more fun, also adding a grind to build a team. And the low spawn rate makes them much more precious ^^. another mod that i think should be added to vanilla should be the "trash and corpses" mod As the name says, just add corpses and garbage scattered all over the cities, for a more apocalyptic environment Because the cities are pretty clean unless you start killing hordes of zombies with the shotgun It would also be great if they add the "time Decreases loot" mod Because in the lore, you are not the only survivor and they would also loot

A mod that I totally enjoy and think they should add in is the mods done by Jigga, specifically "Greenfire" and "Addictions & Withdrawals". It does add a certain green plant that can be smoked, but it does add more than that. It adds tobacco seeds as well as the cannabis, a whole set of "tobacco" pipes and such, and reworks how the "Smoker" trait works. It also allows you to eventually kick those addiction traits you took ("Smoker" does not disappear in vanilla, which means you will always be agitated in late game.) Adds the "Stoner" and "Alcoholic" traits as well! The only other two I can think of is "Expanded Helicopter Events" (never load up without it) and Assault Rifle MOD 41 (makes the Assault Rifle spawnable in police stations, rarely in cars, and rarest in zombies, instead of having the Assault Rifle only be in the military base.... a spawn design I found to be utterly unrealistic, especially in '93)

after +500 hours of this awesome game...i couldnt agree more with your list. and i have a few others i dont play without...superb survivors included (with a 2-4% survivor spawn and high chances of them being unfriendly...and turning unfriendly over time as well also combat text mod clear description for moodles more description for traits OSRS experience bar simple status nested containers smarter storage and a part of the ones you already mentioned thx for your videos man...as usual...useful tips. maybe you can use your influence as a major content creator for this game and try to push some of these mods into the vanilla game when you talk to the game devs. i know a lot of players would love to see them in...(not that im not aware the devs are already doing great amounts of work for the new release...but...between drops -_-'...maybe they can introduce these as well xD) thx for your vids man xD have a good one

I think the mods that allow you to convert stuff like brooms into spears (with the use of a knife) are pretty good. Personally I don't consider it to be game breaking, cause spears really don't last long anyways, until you get a couple levels into the skill, which can take dozens of spears unless you have the +75% of the Fast Learner skill. Unfortunately, all the mods that I used that did this, stopped getting updated, if anybody knows one that does this or something similar that is still fuctional, I would apreciate if they could let me know.
