I think Midnight Club 3's promotion with DUB was possibly the most successful word of mouth campaign I've ever seen. So many of my friends that were into cars got into Midnight Club because DUB magazine gave out demos and showed articles. I have no doubt that it sold playstations as well.
@Helvigster6 ай бұрын
I'd also argue the opposite was true; I had no interest in cars and car magazines like DUB until I played Midnight Club 3. now I love cars!!

My brother and I made a special 1v1 mode to play in Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition. You'd have to stay in the lead while racing on the highway in free roam for an entire lap, but with special rules: 1. You unlock wo-wheel driving by beating Hector's Block Party, 2. Choose Atlanta for your map, because the highway is one big loop 3. Set traffic to max (If I remember correctly, it was a setting) 3. One person starts at the bottom of any highway on-ramp while the other starts at the top 4. Both start at the same time 5. The lead car has to immediately get onto two wheels and maintain it for an entire lap around the highway 6. The chaser car has to stay on 4 wheels and pass the lead car. Their lap on two wheels immediately begins at that point. 7. The lead car has a very strong means of attack. They can lightly tap cars while driving, which will make cars they touch turn sideways, impeding the chasing car. It was a super fun "custom game" we played. I got really good at launching every car I passed.

they're prob not gonna go back to midnight club tbh. they've fleshed out the racing and vehicle customization and city layouts so much with gta5 it seems kinda unnecessary to make a whole other game and license a whole new catalog of music, develop another realistic depiction of a city when they already have a massive licensed music catalog, they already have the big realistic city and the customization and everything so why do all that again and license real car brands on top of that for a franchise that historically doesnt pull in as much revenue as the other IPs and still has to compete with the 45 other racing games out there. i'd love for them to go back to it but from a business perspective it doesnt make any sense. i'd love for them to at least remaster the older games tho

*Regarding Grand Theft Auto & R** *but mainly the Midnight Club franchise* *There's an ongoing trend of R** , *that began some time ago , that the way they design cars is basically recreating the real life counterparts in like 99/99,5 % , have you noticed their change of approach in this regard , what can be the purpose of that?? , personally I've a theory , there is a possibility that the new Midnight Club/wether a remake or a completely new instalment/ have been shelved in favour of development of Grand Theft Auto VI , however could it be , that they recreate those cars with sucha attention so that it'd be easier for em to transfer em in the next years to the next Midnight Club?? , coz I guess they didn't changed their approach unpurposely??*

MCLA got really repetitive at the end... For how big of a map it had, they had a very limited race track list... And there's tons of ramps and shortcuts/side areas that aren't even utilized... You'll have to do the same races at least 5 times over before the end of the game... considering NFS MW and UG2 could pull track variety off with much smaller singular maps just 3-4 years before... It's rather grating to complete... I also wasn't super fond of the soundtrack or the 3rd person cameras (too distracting and static wasn't even static...) but having 1st person was actually really fun!

Sorry 3 was a disappointment trading crazy and civilian squashing for licensed cars and limited customization. If you’ve only played the PS2 versions you’ve missed out on the performance and image quality improvements of the Xbox versions (similar to the GTA Xbox version superiority). Another advantage of the Xbox versions? Custom soundtracks so you could listen to good music. Yes, Midnight Club 3’s music is atrocious if my previous statement wasn’t clear 😛
