This looks so yummy, and it reminds me of a recipe my Aunt Doris used to bring to family dinners. She was out of pumpkin bars and wanted to bring pumpkin bars, so she used mashed sweet potatoes instead and everyone loved them. From then on she brought sweet potato bars. Now she is in a nursing home, so this is a good memory to have.

I'm so ready for Fall. Can't believe it's almost here. Don't worry about tasting your batter. We've all done that and most of us still do. I've never actually heard of or from anyone who became ill from it. I've also never heard of anyone dying from handling raw chicken either. That cake is gorgeous...So are you and Mr. Brown!

I found your cooking show by accident, sure am glad I didn't skip it! Reminds me of my growing up on a small farm in N. C. & I loved it! My Mama was a hard working person, while my Dad worked as an Airplane Mechanic 5 days a week. She & my 2 oldest brothers worked the farm, I could hardly wait to be old enough to work too. Mrs. Lori, I made this today for my family and saying it was a hit is an understatement. I had debated putting a glaze on it and ended up drizzling a thick one on the same way you did. My daughter said that without the glaze it would have been like a pumpkin bread but with it it was like a cinnamon roll. Everyone had the same happy look as Mr.Brown when they tried it. The smell when it was baking was amazing too!! Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe with us!!

Watching the two of you is pure joy! You just enjoy the simple things in life but make them incredibly special when you share them with us. It’s actually calming to watch you go about your days. When I’m a little to revved up I pull up your vids and immediately feel I’ve come home to relax and be comforted. Definitely going to try this cake. I love these hefty pound cakes. You didn’t mention this, but, I assume you don’t put the glaze on if you’re going to freeze it. Just add it after the cake is defrosted. God Bless you both!!!❤

I particularly liked the fact that you made this without an electric mixer. I like to use a wooden spoon and mix by hand. It just feels good. And, it works.
