The contact paper that's being used looks good if you spend hours perfecting it however unless it's sealed which wouldnt make it rental friendly. It'll peel up & it's not water or heat proof, so keep it away from stoves, toasters, any type of heat source. Oh & don't cut on it. The disasters of contact paper are real.

I design and remodel bathrooms for a living. While you probably know I've got 1,000 critical observations here - I'm not typing ANY of them - I just can't - Your spirit, your diligence and your vision for this room is unstoppable and I can't say anything but - NICE WORK! AND - you shared it here with the world and I wish you blessings for that honest heart🥰🤗 PS - you aint kidding about the waterfall showerhead and wand - it does A LOT for quality of life and your shower experience! I'm so happy for you - thanks for sharing this!
@Marlyn_Says3 жыл бұрын
Well I appreciate you. And I am more than open to constructive criticism. This is something new to me but I really enjoy doing it. So I’ll take any tips or alternatives you know of.
@karkerell92313 жыл бұрын
@@Marlyn_Says Where you won on design, you gave up some durability. However, this is a rental, this is on a budget, this is your first "go" at solving some things that can make a person hate their space- and that is ALWAYS worth it. This is lovely right now but over time... you will start doing this again as moisture and wear and tear begin to creep in there... bathrooms are notoriously difficult to keep nice over time with even expensive products so... that's where I come back to just congratulating you on your hard work and for whatever amount of time it stays nice for you. As a rental space? You can't put big $ in there and then leave it behind so finding reasonable upgrades is the challenge. The contact paper is the hardest thing... it's going to peel at the edges and especially on that floor... the clear coat isn't truly sticking to the paper - it seeped in and may create a challenge to take up.. or it may come up in some spots and not others... I'm always ripping stuff out entirely so watching you solve this space was an inspiration. Keep going... I'll keep watching ;)
@Marlyn_Says3 жыл бұрын
Well yes this was a lot of work for a rental but I'm using it for a portfolio as well as just learning more on how to do things and what works and doesn't work. But all in all I'm excited to keep at it. I really appreciate.
@r-e_mii2 жыл бұрын
Is the wand really that amazing? I know this a year old, how did everything hold up? Unfortunately what KZbinrs aren't telling people & which is a big problem is that when applying contact paper is that you have to seal it. By doing that, it would be considered non rental friendly but good job!
@karkerell92312 жыл бұрын
@@r-e_mii YES - the wand offers a mobile spray of water for shaving legs and cleaning "underneath" without contorting yourself (leg up or bent over) - it also allows a good rinse for all the crevices you clean during shower wall and tub/pan maintenance - easily spray the whole space with hot water after a scrub. That rain head... to stand under it your have a much better coverage of the warm/hot water instead of a direct spray on just a small part of your body - a luxurious feel to that for sure ;)

You are so right about the waterfall head. I put one in my guest bath and used it while my master was being renovated. I would get in and wouldn’t want to get out. I’m thinking about putting a waterfall with a handheld in my master. Oh what a feeling. This is nice for a rental. When you move, they’ll give you your deposit and this one will rent for more than you’re paying.

Finally someone who was honest about what worked & didn't work! If you ever end up buying a place or have permission from a landlord and want to change a tile color use Rust-Oleum Appliance epoxy. It's about $25 for a can, don't use the spray one, waterproof and can handle a little bit of heat. I used it on my kitchen counters & bathroom tiles. Isn't it sad how much landlords want for rent when the condition of the living space isnt up to par.

I really give you a big A for effort because the "after" looks really good. You did a lot of NO NOs, but it's live and learn by experience. You might want to check KZbin videos and do some searches online in the future before you do something like painting tile with regular wall paint, LOL! I loved your energy and exuberance. I think the room turned out great, I especially liked the contact paper usage on the vanity and floor, very nicely done. Yes, it is hard to piece marble contact paper. I have seen it done where the contact paper is rolled out in one piece across the entire top of the vanity, and areas marked where the sink needs to be cut around. I saw one video where the person removed the faucet so she wouldn't have to try and trace and then cut around it to get a good tight fit. That's the only way I've seen how to get a seamless look using marble contact paper. The contact paper floor also looked really good, and no - you don't have to put any kind of coating on the paper, it is vinyl and water-resistant. Of course, if you splash around tons of water on your floor daily in no time it won't matter what kind of tile or anything else you have on the floor, it will rot through and you'll step into the bathroom one day and fall into the apartment (or basement) below. One final thing - invest in a small level. It will help you hang pictures and art work perfectly level as well as installing shelves level. You can pick one up really cheap at a big box store like Lowes and Home Depot, as well as a hardware store, etc.
