@@jaywelker5566 Small impacts maybe aren't the end all be all to measuring the difference a battery makes as the motor is disconnected to the output via a spring & hammer. We have both M12 HO types now, so we can surely do more with like drills, saws, die grinders as we buy them.

I think a big consideration should be ergonomics. I've got the Milwaukee M12, and having the battery in the handle not only gives it good balance, but allows you to get in some pretty tight spaces. While I haven't used the other ones tested, battery placement definitely seems like it should be a consideration given what this type of tool is designed for.

This is actually exactly why I have a mix of M12 and Dewalt 12v. For certain tools like a rachet I prefer the battery in the handle and won't use the bigger batteries because they mess up the ergonomics. But on some of the other tools such as a standard drill or impact I prefer the standard dewalt 12v ergonomics.

I had the Craftsman Nextec 12v tools and loved their right angle impact. It was great for removing bodywork from cars, which you have to do to change headlamp bulbs and even some filters. I didn't know much about power tools back then. It was just what they had at Sears. I took it for granted. Years and years later, I looked for right angle impact and came up almost empty. Skil 12v offered it, was a bit wary, but I'm glad I bought into their system. Great little 12v lineup.

Yeah, I mentioned the Skil being $69 a few days ago on the channel. As for the Kobalt impact wrench. It was $99 as a kit some weeks ago and I... "like" it? They put the money into performance for sure but I hate missing the modes. On/Off tools require some finesse at times. But for impact wrenches, where you'll mainly be removing, it's not a big deal considering it doesn't produce a wild amount of beans.

The driver would be a good choice for hard to reach pocket hole screws. You can’t use a ton of power on those or they’ll blow out your pocket, which. Is why you’re supposed to use a drill and a low clutch setting. Great info, Torque.

I have the ridgid jobmax with all of the head attachments including a right angle impact driver. It’s not the best at anything but perfect for small specialty stuff. Bought the tool and every attachment for about $300.

I'm in the Ridgid platform so this is awesome for me...a few ft/lb one way or the other is negligible..these are handy for mechanics regardless of the platform... NGL the SeeSii if you have batteries already for $100 isn't bad...

The light on the skil is also pretty great, when you're jammed up between two joists trying to get a screw to bite it's very nice. I could live without it, but I appreciate it. Good to see more brushless offerings however (maybe cheaper next time TTI). Someone convince Dewalt to make one that is entirely too torquey.

Really think that you should also include what the warranty and serviceability of the tool is in your ratings, especially in this day and age of disposable items. A life time warranty is definitely a plus.

Well that wouldn't be an exact score as it's all different person to person. How good do you rate a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 year, etc warranty without a bias? It's too subjective. A warranty length doesn't mean anything about a tool's durability. They can make the quality of the tool however they like. On the other side of it, just because they say 10 years doesn't mean they will act on it.

Depends on how you act when dealing with any company....act like a child they'll tell you to go pound sand, as rightly so they should tell you that. I've had to get parts for a planer and table saw recently, way beyond the actual warranty....explained to them what happened, sent pictures, and waited...I figured if they had parts at least, I'd be happy and was prepared to pay for the parts....they emailed back with parts availability, and asked for shipping information...sent the parts out without any cost.

Idk how you would go about testing Torque Wrenches, but have you guys considered doing a round up of the popular digital torque wrenches? I’m sure y’all can find a way to give us tests that reflect how they’d be realistically used. I ask this because I recently saw Dewalt had released a digital torque wrench and they’re asking way too much for a rebranded Quinn. It’d be nice to see popular digital torque wrenches from all price points, and maybe one of those cheap adapter types. From ep1: 1) Pull out a new or used bolt and nut and check its thread quality by running a new nut over it by hand, if it's ify measure stretch and replace if need be (5-10 a year) 2) New grease to threads and backside of bolt head and grade 9 washer. If it's a new bolt, 5 beak in runs and re-apply new grease. 3) Test an IR231H to make sure it makes 440-460ft-lbs. If not, make sure gauge is within calibration to 3 known tool "standards" we have on hand. 4) Test 3 working torque tests, middle/median test is shown on screen. For cordless as long as the battery shows full charge each time we don't re-charge. Charge battery when done, allow tool to cool. 5) Test 3 Max torque tests, median is shown on screen. As long as the battery shows full charge each time we don't re-charge. Charge battery when done, allow tool to cool. 6) Test Best Case Scenario at higher pressure for air or fresh off the charger each time and in the FWD direction as well for cordless. Best value is shown on screen.

Have the KOBALT and THE NEW RIDGID SUBCOMPACT RIGHT ANGLE IMPACT WRENCH in 1/2 DRIVE it's got way more power then the KOBALT especially with the 3 amp OCTANE will try it with the 8 amp EXP soon

It would be interesting to right angle adapters tested both to see durability and if any torque is lost. They seem a much more appropriate option for most as they cost less ($20-30) and dont take up as much room in a bag or at home.

Project Farm did this a while ago for the 1/4 hex impact adaptors. Basically, none of them but the metal Milwaukee held up to anything rough, but if you're using them for the occasional 4 inch fastener or smaller, or drilling with a smaller bit, they work great and youll be well served by either model from Milwaukee and either model from Dewalt. I would be curious to see how much torque transfer actually happens via testing here on TTC though. This channel gives us a whole different perspective than PF.

Had one that was just the average no name brand at bunnings (aussie home depot) for 5 years or so. I'm not a mechanic i'm an electrician, it's held up really well and hasn't faulted. There is definitely a noticeable torque loss but it's done a fair few screws that are too big for it. Like any tool mate if you take care of it and don't thrash it like a rental boat you'll be fine with whatever

Ingersoll Rand makes a good right angle impact. I used it to remove old rusted exhaust bolts. Have you ever tested one of those. I have a feeling it might just beat some of those you’ve tested here. That ridged and Kobalt look like Ingersoll clones as the Ingersoll came out first.

@@Time_In1 i got rigid 18v 1/2 high torque impact and rigid 18v 3/8 subcompact impact. Rigid subcompact is a revelation. The high torque gets job done but IR high torque is better imho. Rigid right angle impact and ratchet too heavy for the job, so bought and returned. Still have my craftsman for home improvement that i will hang on to for a bit as i build my rigid 18v

Tbh ima keep my kobalt. I got during an sale for $100 bare tool and then I picked up two 5 amp hour batteries and a socket set for 3/8. It’s plenty of tool when it comes to reaching tight spots on semi trucks. Namely air bags, fan clutches and anything under the cab where space is limited, and it buzzes right through rusty bolts once you break them loose.

I'm still waiting for anyone to make a ultra-compact power tool to remove bolts in ultra-tight engine bays. Doesn't need tons of torque or speed, just prevent the nightmare of removing a bolt one ratchet click per swing deep in an engine bay.

Agreed, I would love for SKIL to come out with 1/4” square drive version of the RI574501, or for Dewalt to come out with a 20v or for Kobalt to come out with a 24v(my current battery platforms) tool that was a serious attempt at a right angle impact driver/wrench, just with a 1/4” square drive, instead of the 1/4” hex collet, something onto which you could directly install 1/4” sockets with no adapters required keeping it truly compact. A reactionless impact tool with the same or more power then the SKIL, the same size or smaller then the SKIL, (I have a hard time believing this isn’t possible) Such a tool would make IMO make powered ratchets(air & cordless) obsolete as they are faster, more powerful, while being just as compact. The SKIL could likely run the TTC Guantlet that the ratchets run faster than the ratchets do, while making more torque on the TTC dyno.

Please place 3 stripes on the sockets to identify movement, one stripe goes out of view . Red , White , and Blue stripes . These other stripes will show the speed at the end of the full torque cycle .

I dont think so, to me it seems the 6.0 is better. The 5 falls short on run time, it might put out a tad more power on fresh battery, but after a couple bolts it's like running a standard 4.0. I buy up the 6.0s whenever I see a sale or miss mark. Can't beet the 2 for 89$ 6.0 I bought last 6 on shelf 😂

Cornwell has a 360 degree air impact and i think Matco has on also. Don’t know if any other major tool company has any but I think it be pretty cool if y’all done testing on them. Cornwell claims 425 ft lbs of breakaway torque and I think Matco is the same. Maybe something to look into brother. Keep up the good work

I've seen that same knockoff makita unlabeled on ebay for around $90-100, if it hits 200 ft lbs on a good day with genuine batteries then I may need it in my lineup since Makita won't make their own

As a owner of the tool I'd say it's a good one. I imagine in a year or two I will swap for Makita batteries since they do not cost much more in a two pack of 4Ah or 5Ah.

Gents, can we talk you into testing torque screwdrivers? You know, the kind of tool you might use with a 1/4" hex insert bit and torque from 10-60 in-lbs or so. I'm curious how good the CDI is, and how it compares to fix-it-sticks or the popular Wheeler Fat Wrench.

Any reason Makita was not included? Or have you tested that before? Edit: NVM, Makita only seems to make a 3/8” wrench that shares design with the impact driver that was tested.

Anyone know where to get the ??AH Octane Battery (also what size is it) shown on the Ridgid R Angle Wrench? Guidance as to EXACTLY where to find it (or a link in the description of this video) would be awesome as I have looked already and can not find it anywhere. If it is unavailable anywhere, doesn't it sorta make this video a bit irrelevant (testing with a battery that can not be bought anywhere)??

I know you're saying the Ridgid Right Angle Impact Wrench ranks Higher than the Kobalt , But the Kobalt did Smash the Ridgid in Forward , and the Ridgid just Barely beat it in Reverse , all while being like $40 Cheaper than the Ridgid 🤔 , Soo in my book Its Kobalt All Day , Just Sayin...... 👍🖖
