I like IExit app for when I am traveling on highways. It tells you how far next exit is, rest stop distance, and what is off each exit. i.e. restaurants, hotels, RV parks, etc. Best is it is FREE.

You can also go to the DOT website for each state for weather, road conditions, state park information, road closures, etc...A lot of them now have cameras on the major state highways that update every 10 minutes where you can actually look at the road and traffic conditions, too.

This y be one of my favorite videos so far! Installed some apps on my phone and tablet already. We need a location close to the Lazy Days dealership in Denver. We wanted to stay at the FAMCAMP at Buckley but they only had one night available. Went to Campendium and found Cherry Creek State Park not far way! Read the reviews and even picked out a sight from a couple of subscriber photos. All this just a couple of days after seeing your video! Thanks so much for your informative series. Stalking, Stacy I can understand, Phil, not so much. As to apps I've traveled mostly on a motorcycle for the last few years but something I still find very handy are plain old ordinary road maps. They let you see a whole state at once so you can get a much better picture of what roads you may want to take. Obviously I don't have any size issues on a bike but you can plan your route and then use other methods to see if you have any size issues. The thing I don't really like about apps is they tend to have a real heavy bias toward interstates and you can't see road numbers unless you get really close in and then you lose the big picture. Just what I do. Your mileage and methods will vary.
@todayissomeday5 жыл бұрын
You are right about the interstates.

I like google maps. My favorite thing is when I get to a place and set up, I will drop a pin on where I am. I like to be able to see at a glance where I am in relation to the area. If you haven't been some place and the local weather is talking about severe weather or possible tornados headed towards Cabs Corner headed East. I want to know where that is in relation to my location. Trust me you can get very nervous if you don't know.

@@todayissomeday I second that. Many people (UTubers) are looking at getting on the bandwagon of informing others what is out and about. However, in a previous question, you did answer you are using multiple cameras, not what those cameras are, that i remember.

Thanks for the suggestions! I have to answer one of these now. Do Not trust any salesman with these types of questions. Not all are bad but many just dont know. They are salesman and not necessarily RVers or experienced RVers. I recommend you hire an inspector from the National RV Inspectors Association. Inspect the RV like you would a home, new or used! First of all, I'm in love with your channel!! You guys are sooooo funny!! LOVE the bloopers, as I've stated before. Secondly, I enjoy the interview videos you do. It's interesting to see how others travel. I have several families we follow but have not seen them in your videos. You mentioned finding new families to interview. I could give you a list of names if you want. This video couldn't have come at a more appropriate time for us as Good Sam is shutting down their Trip Planner next week. :o( That is the only tool I have used so far. In fact, I am in the middle of planning our first major trip in 2020 to kick off our retirement. It will be six weeks traveling from Michigan to Utah to Albuquerque, NM (Balloon Fiesta in October) and back home. Since GS Trip Planner is going away, all the planning I've done so far will be lost. They do not have a date when (or even if) they will offer a "new and improved" version. I know I have a while before the trip but, like you, Stacy, I am an planner. It's never too early to start planning!! RV Trip Wizard appears to be exactly what I want so that one might be our first paid app. Safe travels & happy camping!! Tony & Monica's Plan B, Michigan :o)

What are some of factors that went into making the jump to full time RV'ing? What made people decide to ditch sticks/bricks? What was the first trip for full timers? Did they go on short trips first? One long trip?
@todayissomeday5 жыл бұрын
We wanted to go sooner than later and had the opportunity to jump in with both feet and we did! We were going to down size our house anyway.....so we went real small. We can always buy another house, but we can't get time back! We did take some smaller trips to get used to the RV and lifestyle. Shake down trips are great to iron out small kinks and lets you learn the systems. Hope that helps.

We really enjoy the series! Possible question(s): road/security cameras, does anyone use them and if so which ones?

How about doing a segment on traveling as singles (by choice) instead of all couples?
@todayissomeday5 жыл бұрын
I did try to get a few singles but they all declined my offer. Jose is the only single RVer who was willing to be interviewed. My goal was to interview many different people, from different backgrounds who RV many different ways. That will also be my goal for the next series. Hopefully, more will be willing to be on camera!

I like Karin’s idea. It doesn’t have to be singles being interviewed, but insight as to what you would have to do differently without any help or co-pilot / navigator. I will be venturing out alone by year’s end and curious on what I will be encountering. Great channel and series - you guys are awesome!
