3d vcache can be buggy with too many cores. AMD are working on it but it's not fixed yet. I saw a video of someone comparing 7950x and 7950x3d and the non 3d variant actually performed better. That's why everyone recommends the 7800x3d for gaming rather than 7950x3d

I have a 7900x and a 4080 and had multiple crashing issues on 1440p ultra settings and RT on. When the game didn’t crash, it looked amazing. And decent frames too. Stayed above 100 pretty consistently

Hope you flashed the bios so that 7950X doesn't burn up from the vcore overvolting Asus boards have been found to be doing with stock bios settings, while this issue is more common on X3D parts it's also known to have claimed 7950X, 7900X and a 7700X as well as a few 7800X3D's and 7950X3D's and Asus is the biggest culprit

Hold up, I have a Ryzen 9 7900X and an ASUS TUF Gaming B650 Plus WiFi MoBo and my CPU completely shit the bed a few months ago (like PC hard crashed and couldn't restart or go to the BIOS). Ended up having it replaced, and since then, PC has experienced random shutoffs/restarts etc. Could that actually be the issue?!

@@Chrono348 No, it couldn't be related, the vcore issue was that the ram OC profiles for x cpus were applying to x3d cpus. This was never an issue for x cpus and these were healthy voltages for them, x3d has a reduced maximum voltage as the 3d cache can't handle it.

Yes they are more expensive. But the upside is their build quality. Do a benchmark of the same spec PC and compare Asus and MSI and MSI will burn up before the Asus even breaks a sweat. You just need deep pockets.

I have a 7950x with a 4080. Great cpu. Really good for multi tasking. You can have mountains of tabs open on your apps/browser before you even start to remotely notice any affect on performance in any of your games. Its just a bit expensive, especially if you are just gaming. Its kind of an "all-rounder" kinda cpu. Does a little bit of everything and it does it very well actually.
