That holder mounted to the rear billet is intended for a hoof pick if I'm not mistaken. I was given one as a gift and I have one mounted to all my saddles now. It carries my hoof pick so I always have one anytime I'm riding. And yes I have had to use it to pick out a rock that got lodged between the sole and the shoe one time, so I was happy I had it.

A decent saddle that wont break the bank. I bought a Corriente strip down model where the stirrup leathers go thru seat skirting. I like that feature for freedom of movement. I found it to be durable, well built, affordable & comfortable saddle. It fits most horses if you adjust yer pad/blanket combo accordingly.

Skidmores leather cream was used when new and thru break in period. My saddle strings & cinch keeper have held up so far. Got to take care of yer leather on any brand of saddle. Skidmores is best product i know of to keep leather conditioned.

I'm riding in a Circle Y right now, but the gullet is a little low for my horse, so I'm shopping for a new saddle. I might have to give this one a look!

b4 buying a new saddle, try a build up pad. if you look around some pads are made with extra thickness added to front of pad.

My Uncle used to make custom Sadles back in the day down here S of Houston. I wish he was still around because he always had a few laying around & I would love to grab 1. He worked magic with leather.

I own one and like the hell out of the dang thing. Fits a mutton withered horse perfect ( well mine any ways). Have drug a shit load to the fire with ZERO problems on that saddle. I use my corriente on 3 ranch guildings 14.2 , 15, and 16 + hands. Full sweat marks, no sore back issues. Yes Sir, id own another!

Sheridan saddles are just as good if jot a little better,( family dispute, split off from corriente) fits all my horses perfect, unless i was buying a custom made saddle , corriente or Sheridan is all I will buy

would a sheridan be just as versatile? i’ve been looking for reviews and infos on their saddles for a long time now and nobody seems to have them.

Sheridan Saddles is owned by Mr. Baize's (owner of Corriente Saddles) son. They are both excellent quality for the money...if you pay extra for the sheepskin liner.

I’ve looked into these. I know they are all made on the same tree. Anybody know if they would work for a gaited horse? I have a Foxtrotter.

I ran one on a two year old Rocky Mountain mare I started last summer and it fit her well. I was running a Diamond all wool Pad with a Mohair Navaho with it and she didn’t get sore spots. Hope that helps!

There is no saddle for a horse under a 1000.00 that is worth a damn. Not many pony saddles either.
@CGunRanch7 ай бұрын
I agree. Those saddles use drywall screws to attach the leather to the tree and speaking of the leather, most of the stirrup leathers they use are made out of belly leather instead of back leather. That causes them to stretch really easily especially when they get wet. Most of those mass produced saddles are as good as the person who built them though. So some of them might be okay, but it has been my experience that most of them aren’t. They just won’t hold up under heavy use for any length of time.
