I’ve had my rear camera for two years. love it. I posted a close pass going up a mtn canyon. I posted it. other cyclists appreciated the post to be careful at that certain spot.

I bought it because a van driver chased me all over across grass, the bike lane and on to the pavement, trying to kill me by crushing me into a fence…now he is going to court, but not before after complaining about Danish police 3 (three!) times. Then the State Prosecutor intervened and told the Police to take it seriously. Denmark 2021.

I am really surprised that there is barely a mention about the camera's ability to read vehicle registration plates (just near the end). Proving that someone wronged you is useless unless you can prove who they are. Using freeze frame on this video, it is obvious that the front cam gives pretty good quality in this respect but the rear cam doesn't look good at all. You need to give a bit more focus (excuse pun) on this critical feature. What's it like in low light? How far away can you read a plate in different conditions?

I honestly clicked on this video thinking it would be a video reviewing a few different cameras not just a front & rear from one brand.

Using the Fly v6 nearly every day since Dec. '18, not having had a single problem with it! The Fly 12 died after 6 months. Cycliq replaced it without any hassle with a Fly 12 CE, running since a year now without a single problem. They work flawless, even if I touch ground or attempt a rolly-polly, they keep up their work. Together with the Garmin Live track and incident recognition a must for every cyclist! I would not want to miss them!

I got the Fly 6 rear camera, 2nd generation I believe. Anyway, the battery worked great and it lasted more than the claimed 6 hours. But, it died after about a year, with only light usage, as I usually ride once a week during the dry months. The kicker is, the battery is non user replaceble, so I'm left with an expensive paperweight. The video quality was also not good but I can live with it for what it is. Would not recommend unless they put in replaceble battery.

The unit itself is not that good. Look up the reviews here. I did. Footage is terrible and the car needs to be within 6 feet of the camera to even get the license plate. Not for for purpose.

Are there any good cameras that you attach on your helmet, with 360° angle? The biggest problem for me, at least, are cars crossing the cycle lane from the side. These will not be seen in a front and back camera, but only a side camera. Since people are not looking before they drive out from a small side road, I've almost been hit several times, and therefore I start to feel the need for a good camera to catch even these incidents and accidents. Thank you.
@Gugner3 жыл бұрын
The rear camera will mostly show it, due to its wide angle.

After being knocked off my bicycle by an inattentive driver and numerous close passes I've invested in a pair of tooo camera/rear lights £107 each from Team Cycles, plus a few bob for the sd cards. Fantastic quality footage and 9hrs recording. I adapted a go pro mount for the front. I just use a bit of insulation tape to cover the silicone bungs for the sd card and recharge ports, the weather in North Manchester is incredibly wet, and I like the extra protection.

When on a near daily basis you have close calls, while driving extremely DEFENSIVE, the need for proof to take people to court is apparent. I dont use a car and have ridden my bike all my life. I see people still on their phones daily, about 5 people on avg - there are no cops to enforce this in the UK so they can get away with this, i see people putting on make-up, and reading the newspaper for fucks sake. When i confront them about their phones use its fuck off or they shrug their shoulder and give me the what are you looking at look. Want to stop people using their phones while driving? Instant 6 month driving ban with 9 points. But we will never see that as that infringes on their rights to kill people while driving unattended.

There's no way around helmet. Something as simple as slipping and falling can end up with a wide open skull very easily. And if we talk about cars, it's only matter of survival. Even if we assume a perfect society without jerks, people can still get distracted for a fraction of a second, get startled or just not see the other guy.

It actually would be great for wheelchairs. So many times people try to beat me to crossing the road. I guess they cant wait 4 secs, they would rather take the chance of killing a person.
@eisenklad4 жыл бұрын
cheaper to get an action cam.. and if you are using a motorized wheelchair, a Motorbike front and rear camera is more worthwhile. they usually come with 2 cameras and a Diplay/recording module and have weatherproof cameras. the 2 cameras can be mounted for front and back or if you want, 2 front facing but angled to capture both left and right. they run on 12-24V with a small internal battery... making it impractical for cyclist. but for motorized wheelchairs, that large battery could be tapped on easily by a decent competent electrician. a cyclist cant afford to carry extra powerbank just for 12V power. i just carry a powerbank to recharge my USB lights and my phone. there are powerbank that can supply 12-24V and 5V.. but its usually one or the other, not both at the same time.

I cycle where there are those with reason out of sink with reason right and natural. It's a land plagued with pre-century American polity; I've been called the "N" word so many times, I call myself Jon the Niggard from Trash Valley. Twice last year doors have opened with the intent of slamming me. The driver of the first one, swerved away as the opened door came within inches. The second time, I was cycling in the left lane (here we normally drive on the right side) to let those behind pass without having to change lanes on the winding road. He slammed the door closed as he overtook me, without hitting me. Maybe he was just trying to scare me, as a log truck driver did one morning. The very first case of attempted vehicular homicide occurred when an old self-proclaimed which saw me after several years of my absence. She was obviously angry, as there is a property line dispute., and sped after me. I moved over to the left and waited for her to pass. She stopped instead, turned around and raced home. I think I should get the camera set.

5:36 The car driver should have seen the cyclist and waited for him to clear the junction, OTOH when the cyclist saw the car passing him, indicating to turn right, that was not the time to undertake.
@cbgthree6 жыл бұрын
You had me until OTOH. Putting on a blinker does not give a car driver immunity to operate in a manner dangerous to a cyclist. In that situation it is the passing motorist's responsibility to wait until the cyclist passes, either on the left or right side.
@genixia4 жыл бұрын
If the car was indicating right, it was illegal to pass the cyclist on the left.

That last few seconds, why are you trying to overtake on the right side of that car when he slows down, he is obviously going to do something, and he then turns on his indicator. You have to cooperate with vehicles on the road, not just pedaling along as if you don't have to slow down when someone are about to turn in front of you. You have the same responsability as any other vehicle to watch out for other vehicles and not just t-bone them. Don't leave your brain at home when you are out cycling.
@cbgthree6 жыл бұрын
Wrong. We don't see it in that section of the video that the car passed the cyclist to get to where it was relative to the cyclist, but it is making a turn in the cyclist's path and it is THE DRIVER'S responsibility to do so safely. He or she can wait two seconds until the cyclist passes. In Massachusetts the law says this. malegislature.gov/Laws/GeneralLaws/PartI/TitleXIV/Chapter90/Section14
@gdaymates4315 жыл бұрын
Bullshit. That car was totally in the wrong. How can you actually think otherwise? The cyclist is riding straight, the car drives up and tries to turn and doesn't even have an indicator on! That's besides the point though. The car should have stopped, put his indicator on and waited for the road user who was going straight to pass. Learn your road rules.
@Mostlyharmless19854 жыл бұрын
Counterpoint: you don’t encroach into an occupied lane. I’ve had cars in this exact situation rip up from behind, get stuck into the car in front, and still try to execute the turn as I maintained pace. The only thing I can do as a cyclist is make you aware of my position, and be predictable. Predictable in this situation is to maintain pace as I’m not as visible in your mirror. Things you pass just don’t disappear from view.
