Chris, I personally love the tech stuff. I think you have the balance (racing, tech, training & family etc.) in the VLOGs spot on. Not sure if you’re sponsored by Sony, but if you are you should probably declare it before reviewing.
@ChrisMillerCycling6 жыл бұрын
Hey Micheal, thanks for that man. I popped the arrangement in the description, basically they lent me a camera.

We appreciate the tech tips ... great job there, (although I haven’t the charm to ever vlog). Well done as usual. Robbie seems to have the knack for shooting video. Best of luck to that lad as well.

Loved todays intro style. Keep the tech stuff in. I started watching Shane Millers vlogs and then based on his reviews etc... decided to upgrade to a PM and Kickr.

Chris absolutely love the tech stuff mate. Would be keen to see a safety tech episode...nothing too crazy but since getting hit by a car earlier this month going up Allambie Rd, I’ve been looking for the decent riding lights, is Garmin radar any good, does fluro = safety? Keep up the great work mate.

Yeah nah yeah, I am most likely never going to use that info about your camera's, but at the same time I like to watch it. I guess I appreciate the effort you go to in the detail to get these vlogs so good. So keep them coming I'm sure the next tech will be info I will use :).
@kriszentek416 жыл бұрын
Moar tech, definitely. I'm a gadget and project freak and video's like this help me spend money I haven't got :) I've recently started vlogging my own training rides with a view to promoting the team a it more in social media - mostly will be at races (more interesting than the blogs we write), but also out on training and social rides - get the sponsor logos in shot as much as possible! I'm using a couple of Hero5 blacks and invested in a G7X for our Majorca training camp - but it was too bulky for long days out and stuck with a gopro on a hand mount. I'm still at the bottom of a steep learning curve, but I'm so far really enjoying the learning. It would be good to see a video of your soft vlogging techniques, e.g., what post processing you use, whether you have a certain 'style' or whether you vary this from vid to vid. Keep up the good work! I'm a big fan of your vids, and I was in Sydney in Jan/Feb, so it's very nostalgic for me - I was staying in Coogee - not far from Centennial Park :) Next trip, there will be a bike box with me.

Thanks for the comment Kris. I actually find the RX100’s form isn’t too bad in the rear pocket, plus I can use it as an excuse when I get dropped :) That’s a good idea about ‘soft vlogging’, things like thinking about light,wind and quite roads to talk to camera as well as the post stuff.
@chrisvanbuggenum8716 жыл бұрын
Cheers. I wouldn't mind getting a camera but if someone else (you) has tried a whole bunch of them it saves me a whole lot of time, effort and money trying to find the good one to get. So keep talking tech. I'll be at B2B as well. Good luck!

When you have a long ride, and you wish to put in a number of cuts ... all with metrics overlay: Do you find it's easier to do the overlay with Garmin VIRB Edit once for the whole ride and then cut it up from there? Or, do you cut the clips up first and then overlay metrics on each one?
@ChrisMillerCycling6 жыл бұрын
Good question man. I’ll import the footage into VIRB and add the metrics first, then export it as complete file. I’ll bring it back in to FCP to do the editing from there.
@billofoz6 жыл бұрын
Chris, like your stuff - your editing is top shelf. I think that helmet mounted cams give a MUCH better feel of what is happening in a race, but a GoPro / similar is awful looking on top a lid. There is a lot of tech on really small 1080p60 for quadcopters, that makes the camera lens wired away from main camera and quite small, so the guts / SD card in box are mounted elsewhere on helmet. I am just finishing a DIY build of a dual "Run Cam Split 2", one facing front and one facing rear, mounted on a Ballista. (No GPS though) I hope to do a quick vid showing the rig this week in case you want to see a hack!

Thanks man, and that sounds awesome! The one thing I didn’t talk about was battery life. They are all so varied when it comes to their run time, I find it so frustrating

Tech is good leave it in. So you find synchronizing Wahoo and your Sony hard is there any real benefit to staying within the Garmin ecosystem Garmin cycling computer and Garmin camera and software?

Hey Great vlog. Good luck at Bathurst. I'm doing a uni project on Cycling Australia and Cycling Victoria etc. One of my questions is 'Analyse and comment on additional services or inputs that could be utilised by the sport to achieve its objectives'. I know you always chat about how they can improve etc and I was wondering if you could give a few opinions. I understand if you can't :) - Josh

Hello. With all the different models available was there a particular Sony Action Cam you were using/recommend? Also would you recommend that model over the Garmin VIRB XE action cam? Thanks a bunch!
@ChrisMillerCycling6 жыл бұрын
Hey Red, I've been running the AS300 and am really happy with it. I'll be honest though, the Garmin VIRB is the one action cam I haven't used. But from what I've seen online there is a big trade off between video quality and ease of use with the VIRB.
@MrRedKing6 жыл бұрын
Chris Miller Cycling thanks for the reply. I'd prefer quality any day so I'll look into the AS300. Thanks again and great videos

Wow so you guys suffer up that stupid climb at 10:40 as well? 😯 Happy it's not just me who does! And just regarding the opening scene, the shots looked a bit overexposed. But I guess it's worth it considering the practicality of the camera 🙂 p.s. can't wait to shout "are you Chris Miller?" at Bathurst this weekend!! 😵
