For anyone new to wet shaving especially shaving with a safety razor, a few tips. 1: Wash your face first to get rid of any dirt / grease/ sweat etc 2: Leaving your face wet, lather your face ideally using a shaving brush to work the soap in. 3: Wait 20/30 seconds to allow the soap to soften your bristles. 4: Using your razor, shave down your face first, do not press on , let the razor do the work. Rinse the blade(s) as you go. Use short strokes. 5: Rinse your face and pat dry with your towel, do not rub. 6: For a closer shave, rinse your face again after shaving down lather then shave upwards, rinsing the blade as you go. 7: For any really stubborn whiskers, stretch the skin with your fingers before shaving. 8: When you have patted your face dry, I would recommend an aftershave balm to calm down your skin and assist with moisturising it. Finally something my father told me decades ago, never shave over dry skin with a safety razor, it’s not half sore if you do.

Hi, we are deeply saddened by the sudden departure of the father figure, the legend Brian Mulreany from the videos altogether. Although the current videos good as well but an interview with him would mean a world to us regular lads. Unless he was ousted from his own company (which is unthinkable) I think our humble request should be taken into consideration. Our best wishes to him and all of his well wishers. ❤ #BringBackBrianMulreany

What happened to Brian? I spoke with him on the phone once and he was brilliant.

When I was in high school I used a Gillette Twist to Open razor and Gillette blades that slid in from the holder. You never had to touch the actual blade. Recently I tried a Feather blade that was wrapped in some kind of gummy paper. Hard to get open and easy to cut yourself. Does anyone still make the old style blades that easily slide out of the holder? Have to take blood thinners so may have to go back to an electric razor so I don't keep cutting myself from trying to get the razor out of the package. I also have a modern gem style razor but the industrial type blades are tightly covered with some type of hard cardboard that needs to be opened with pliers and scissors if you want to minimize the risk of getting cut.
