Sailing Yacht Florence

Күн бұрын

We sailed days out of our way to get here but was it worth it? After sailing 46,000 miles around the world, have we now found the best sailing destination? The shallow, azure waters of The Bahamas provide a breathtaking backdrop. Navigating around uninhabited islands and shallow reefs, we stop off to visit the locals on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean, before experiencing a huge sailing regatta Bahamas style.

Hands down you are my favourite sailing channel. I’m a new subscriber so I’ve watched all of your videos in a relatively short time, and what catches me is your steady growth of the quality of videos you are posting. Added to that you are a lovely couple, really down to earth therefore you don’t need to add any of the extras to get subscribers. I am hooked.

You started out making videos of Florence & your travels but, as your films guide us toward the end of this circumnavigation, you’ve become documentary makers. Love your stuff.

I like your guys' style more so than most of the other cruising channels. This is shot more like a Travel Channel show, and less like a couple trying to humble-brag about their lifestyle. Also, this is how I would travel if/when I do it myself someday.

Long time subscriber here. You guys are, bar none, the best, most proficient sailing KZbinrs out there. Wouldn’t dream of missing an episode. That’s why I beg you, PLEASE don’t head North on your next trip! Every sailing KZbinr out there has done the North. There’s NOTHING left for your viewers to see. As a retired Canadian Navy sailor I’ve seen more of the North than I ever want to see again. I even lived North of 80° for 6 months! If you want to go to a cold place consider going South.

I have an idea to share with you. While I am in total agreement with all the compliments already expressed I wonder if you would consider filming a conversation between the two of you. It might be difficult to keep it from looking rehearsed or staged, but if done well, I think you would be offering something new in the sailing channel space. Perhaps a reminiscing about the day over sundowners or while eating dinner. Perhaps a discussion of where to go tomorrow or next week. Maybe a short list of projects and prioritizing them. I am sure your creative minds will overflow with ideas. In any case at the very least, please keep up the great work, and I hope this is a never-ending Cruise.

You must've watched a different video than I saw. Beating, banging, and upbeat nerve-wracking during the race. I'm not a fan of the noise. I would much rather hear the actual sound of sailing and life. IMHO, they missed the beat this week. 😅

I don’t know about the UK, but where I am Dinghy racing seems to be growing as well. Most clubs have some form of summer camp, staffed by High School Sailors with Instructor Certifications and Boating Licenses. Every weeknight club race from lasers to keelboats normally has high schoolers and even some middle schoolers as crew or skippers (In the case of dinghies). Some regional professional events like Screwpile and Governor’s Cup even have young people crewing, and are local events in a similar albeit smaller way like the Bahama regattas. It’d be interesting to see what areas are growing and which are shrinking, but at least around me sailing is still going strong! Also great video, this one was a real treat, and the contrast in atmosphere between the serene deserted islands and lively regattas was very well done. Fair winds, -J

This is a tough episode to watch. One of the reasons that I watch SYF (and several other sailing channels) is to curate our list of places to visit when we sail around the world. The problem, the around-the-world boat we just bought needs nearly 9 feet under her. The Bahamas are really difficult for deeper draft boats. The Bahamas should use this video as part of their tourism marketing. It sure makes me want to visit, BAD.

Are there any rules in this race? It didn't look like starboard had much right of way and no penalty after what we would consider a violation. Maybe the object is to disqualify a competitor by running them down? Just the same, a beautiful experience you shared and it looked like all was well in the end.

As a long time sailor of dinghies and keel boats it is a perception (at least in Australia) that is incorrect. Everyone is welcome and we are always looking for new crew. My assumption is sailing clubs are often behind gates and walls but this is due to security not exclusivity.
