I like the GPS mode for the simple fact that it’s such a beautiful scale helicopter that u don’t wana crash it n break it it’s expensive and parts take time coming from over seas

He sure does! I give him most of them after the video. This one I am keeping because I love the Apache helicopter, but I’ve already given him four or five of them. I’ve also given them two guys at the field they have never flown helicopters to get them into it.

It is basically the exact same thing as a drone in a helicopter body. I love seeing these little scale machines and personally prefer them without GPS.

they put a lot of automated drone features in these small helicopters so anyone can fly it which increases product sales.

That is exactly why they do it. It is extremely difficult to get new guys into the hobby with traditional helicopters and having GPS and flying like a drone gets a lot more people to buy them, but that doesn’t mean that it teaches them the correct way.

Nice scale looking little GPS helicopter 🚁, it’s got a decent top speed and the GPS will definitely help the beginner pilot and might have some really cool features like low battery automatic RTH function 😊

It is an awesome little scale machine, especially for people that have never flown a helicopter or want to learn. My daughter can fly it and teaches her the basic stick movements. That is an interesting question. I wonder if it does have returned to home if the battery dies or gets low. Hmm! Gotta test that.

What you were saying, was much the same as John Salt said. He hasn't flown any of these newer Military Helis, but he put a Fly Wing GPS controller in his Devil 505 Heli as a demonstration as to what these GPS Controllers can do. He used a Radiomaster TX16S TX for the demo. You could go into, and take it out of GPS mode with a flick of a switch. Just like you he was confused as to who the heli would be good for, but finally assessed it might be for someone who may have an permanent injury where they have limited use of their hands, and can't fly a regular CP heli anymore, but still wants to fly in a limited capacity. He assigned the switches to where they were supposed to be. It too had the circle and figure 8 GPS flying as well as the Return To Home. His also had a switch that would turn it inverted and hold in GPS mode, and flicked the figure 8 switch on as well, and it was doing inverted figure 8's and funnel type circles, without touching the sticks. The first time he flipped the switch for the heli to go inverted, which it did perfectly, he was laughing so hard! It seemed as though if you just flicked it inverted without using any stick movement it would do a do a half roll to get inverted. But if you clicked it while flying, you could push the cyclic stick hard twice forward, and it would get inverted by doing a half front flip, and same if you pulled the stick back twice hard it would do a half backflip to get inverted. He was really just trying to show how interesting the technology was and how far things have come. This was a few years ago, and it was the first generation of these GPS units for Helis. It's interesting to me to see some of these helis have it, while others that look exactly the same don't. Fly Wing has made improvements since the one John tested a few years ago, and GPS Heli's like the Fly Wing 450 gen 3 can even do Piro Flips by holding the yaw stick in either direction and flipping the switch. Also, somehow, they made that Fly Wing 450 Gen 3, which has a DD tail totally silent in flight flight instead of that "Whine" noise we don't like. I have one, but it's just sitting in a box unopened. I guess I just wanted it in case one of my friends wanted to go flying with me without any experience, and enjoy being able to fly it around without the worry of crashing it. Plus he or she could just just fly it up to 30 meters, which is where you can do tricks safely, flick a switch, and see what it feels like to go inverted, even if they aren't the ones doing it, lol.

I can see the point of GPS helicopters and what they are used for. For example, my daughter flies the FW 450 V3 and she absolutely loves it. It allows her to learn the control input and movements of the machine, but if she messes up and let go of the stick and it returns to a automatic hover, I personally think that they can teach some bad habits, but I also see where young kids or people who don’t ever care to properly learn how to fly a helicopter or stay just want to go fly figure. It gives them the confidence and allows a lot of airplane people or regular people to fly helicopters that would never have before. The automated figure rates and circle mode. I personally don’t see why you would want that? I also know on the fly wing system. It will even do automatic TikTok’s with the flick of a switch. Months and months ago I built a RAW 580 with the H1 Unit. It did fly and work. But it does have a mind of its own from time to time. And I have seen the FW machines go crazy and literately fly away. They have their pluses and minuses, but I do think for what they are getting people into the hobby or getting people that would’ve never of flown helicopters a chance to fly them I think it is a great thing to have.

@@westhobbiesrc8051 I totally forgot. My apologies. I've seen you fly that FW450 with your daughter. I agree it gives people a basic understanding of how they fly and can start to create that muscle memory. I also agree with you that they can teach bad habits. The V2 version was already out when I started flying, but I KNEW I wanted to learn to fly correctly without the use of any stability. Yeah, LOL I forgot about the Tic Toks! I've heard the first gen V3's of which I have one, did have some problems with the firmware. If I ever do finally take it out of the box, the first thing I have to do is update it. I too have heard about the fly aways.

Thanks for reviewing Jeff! While it looks cool, it is clearly marketed for drone flyers who want to fly helicopters. At that pricepoint, however, it also should have sensors everywhere to keep it from running into objects/people when doing it's automated stuff. If it cannot at least give you full control, then its just an "ok" gps drone shaped like a cool scale heli. And for that reason its not for me. But I see who it's for. Cheers!

These little GPS helicopters are not for everyone, but I do see where they are useful. There is a lot of guys who never want to learn 3-D or even learn the proper way to fly a helicopter and they buy something like this which is pretty cool and gives more people the option to fly helicopters and get hooked to the helicopter bug.

Great question! I haven’t flown the new goosky scale helicopter. I just got mine and working on the videos right now. I love the look of the Apache more, but I definitely like that. The goosky guy is a fully controllable helicopter.

To be sure….for GPS mode Steady green light Switches flip to GPS and AUTO Switch to unlock Sticks down and out to throttle up Then it lifts off to hover That’s all??

@@vincentcimino1963 that it! In GPS mode it’s a solid green light, when talking off in GPS mode it can take few minutes after powering on to find GPS but once the light is green it’s good to go.

I have the earlier non gps version so none of the automatic features. It’s more like a regular 6G/3D helicopter. With the earlier model, you can change the various settings (pitch & throttle curves, expo etc) to suit your own flying style. Can you adjust those settings with this version?
