It's my go to screen capture tool for Windows and it's now available for Mac as well! I probably use ShareX 40 - 50 times a day. Hope you like it as much as I do. I also suggested a change to allow the step numbers (I) to allow starting the sequence from Zero (0) and not One (1) and they implemented the change into prod within a month :-) Thanks ShareX team you are fantastic.

I use ShareX and it's great. There is one small problem I have... When I point path to NAS share (ShareX Application Settings -> Use custom screenshot folder), ShareX will accept it but... in case network share is not available immediately after login (it happens) the ShareX will change the path to default "My Documents\ShareX". I had to write a small app which monitors network share availibility and delays ShareX startup. I would prefer ShareX to report an error (but only when I make screenshot) and not actively change settings.

@@whatthehack1589 You may well be correct but unfortunately Share x is not available on Linux and I don't think Share x does any annotations stuff. Think it relies on the art packages for that. Is that correct? Never used either.

I've been recommended the program in 2016 by a gamerbuddy surprisingly it has seem to be given a bit more accessability. I think it just used to only have workflows iirc anyway and not to many uploading services though it has always promoted imgur i tend to stick away from it as ShareX i belive has no builds for Linux. FlameShot on the other hand has a bit more editing options right out of the gate, such as bluring, annotations what I still want it to feature in the future is active window snapping, as of right now you can I belive just take an entire screen screenshot or pixel based one. Not based on active, focused window. What I also like is that Flameshot is simple, small and can be portable. Snip & Sketch is ultra simple as UWP app but lacks features from snipping tool such as delayed screenshots. But featured direct copies to the clipboard so, eh whats annoying is the consant preview on any screenshot even whole screen ones. And well it's biggest drawback has to be it's only shipped via Microsoft Store, though in newer Windows versions somehow baked in certain ways.

I've been using it to replace my paid version of TechSmith's Snagit and found it to be as feature rich and capable as the paid for software. Although it has a pretty steep learning curve because of lack of help files, but after you get used to it, it is very powerful.

Going to be a learning curve but I just installed it two minutes ago. The test picture was too small, thought it would be full screen, and don't know the path to find picture on the computer as I only saw the preview but it did not go into the designated folder. The shortcuts were different for some functions because it could not use the defaults for two options. It's like everything, the first time you use things it will take time to figure out. I got screen recording software with OBS but needed a way to capture images quickly from the videos and from the computer screen. I am at 3:27 in the video. To me this isn't that rapidly easy to use. Has a learning curve so cannot use it right now as I am in early stages of learning.

ShareX (and my previous screenshot tool of choice, lightshot) would tint the screenshots when f.lux is enabled (Will have a slight tint on all day, and a darker tint in the evenings). The best is techsmith snagit because it is able to do thigs like no other capturer. But ShareX is good first of all because it's open source and free. And Microsoft's Snip & Sketch is good too. If you have proper clipboard manager, you don't need to manage all screenshots instantly, they are just waiting in clipboard.
