First time I've seen you, Chris. Great video. Love the speed and clarity.

I still like Greenshot because it sends screenshots directly to MS-Word. Also ShareX's Video capture doesn't have pause button. I really like ShareX can capture the scroll window.

Thank you for this excellent comparison. It makes for a well-informed decision on which software to go with. The time and effort spent on producing this video is well appreciated. Stay safe and cheers!

I use Greenshot because it's simpler and easier to use, and lighter (and much smaller in file size). ShareX has a lot more feature (but I don't need them) and I may use it in future if I need more advanced feature, but I haven't had to yet.

Your thumbnail shows ShareX as ScreenX.

That is an insanely powerful program. Hard to believe it's free.

I installed Greenshot after your previous video - I don't think I'll get any more use out of ShareX, so I'll keep Greenshot. One feature that I don't think you mentioned - GS lets you capture the mouse cursor (which I generally want to do), does ShareX? An unrelated question - I see you use Brave. I've just started using it, and it's been alright so far - another browser that I looked at was OperaGX, which has some really nice features. Have you done any comparison between the two? Be interesting to see what you think Cheers

Hello Sid. ShareX let's you capture the cursor both when capturing screenshots and screen recordings. Alternatively, if you DO NOT want to capture the cursor for either screenshots or screen recordings then, you may independently do so. To access those options: 1. Open up the ShareX main window. 2. Click on 'Task settings' 3. Then click on 'Capture', located to the left of the window which pop up. 4. To enable/disable the screen capture of the cursor, check/uncheck 'Show cursor in screenshots', located to the right. 5. To enable/disable the screen recording of the cursor: a) Repeat steps 1 to 3. b) After clicking on 'Capture', click on 'Screen recorder' - located to the left, below 'capture'. c) Check/Uncheck 'Show cursor in recording' - located to the left. Hope the above answers your question, helps and isn't too lengthy. Just wanted to be clear.

Thanks for the video. One question: Is there a way to highlight the cursor in videocapture? (Circle around the cursor). And record mouseclicks, sound and red circle or something like that.

Hi, I do I delete my history from this app? I have been to the history area, but I don't see any delete option, I have even tried to right-click in case in options might come up. Unfortunately none come up. Please advice. Thanks in advance

Both apps are great but the UI is hideous for both tools in Windows 11. I had Greenshot on Windows 10 for years and it was enough for my daily basis screenshots to create documentation guides with step-by-step instructions. I gave ShareX a chance but I ended up hating it. I can live with the ugly UI and giant fonts but not with the errors when recording the screen. There is no Pause button during recording, the icons to add steps produce huge steps numbers with no option to reduce the size, not to mention the other icons for image modification. In simple words, I will stick with Greenshot for now.

It’s mind boggling why Microsoft can’t do anything right. Their snip and save is so poorly designed. Simply wanting to take a screen shot and automatically save to desktop can’t be done. Sharex fills the Microsoft void.

can yes, you can config its in windows for save in desktop or any other folder. Windows 7, 10 and 11, i ever config to save prints in desktop

@@Playhard_ I don't understand the path you wrote. "Folder Screenshots" being in settings in the snip and sketch app or in the Screenshots folder in file explorer? Also are we talking about the "Snipping tool" or "Snip and Sketch"?
