at lest its the currnet best one that i found. also its more of a glide bomb but who cares. feel free to ask questions.

Building an effective sensor guided missile was what got me into building complex stuff with logic in Space Engineers. It has similar problems as in Trailmakers, like the range is exactly the same, 50m. But SE doesn’t have wings and aerodynamics, so Couldn’t make it change course quick enough. Until I realised I can slow the missile with a parachute if it missed the target.

i see, they added ai blocks, right? im guessing you dont need to use sensors in the same way anymore.

Yes. The AI block makes it easy to make effective missiles. So I had to come up with more complex problems to solve. xD For example: land vehicles that can avoid dangerous terrain. Those still use sensors.

I’d love to make a proper air to air missle however everyone who is tech savvy is on PC and I have to figure everything out myself

I made a missile as well, and the only issues i ever had was that either it couldnt keep up or it got messed up by terrain, but the tracking is perfect, and goes about 300kph

I feel like you could use a magnet on the front so that once it gets within a certain range it's almost guaranteed to hit. You could probably also put dynamite on a magnet and launch it with a piston at -100 speed and basically have an over complicated version of the rocket launcher

i highly suggest you check out brick rigs, its an amazing physics based sandbox game, the amount of freedom in what you can make is pretty insane, you can make anything from insane long rangemissles to drones and other things

A way to get longer range distance sensor is to search for glitched distance sensors on the workshop and then you can put them on your build

ironically, as stated in the video more range would just mean that it would detect the sea floor. which means that would make it less effective in some senses. if i was tracking airplanes then yeah, but then there are other issues.

You should try to do uncaged seaker next. And there is actually a solution to the distance problem, ive seen modded distance sensors with almost infinite activation distance

see, i would love to do an uncaged seeker but that does not actually fix the issues. the missiles just lets targets slip through the gaps at range. even if i did use the long range sensors as i said before, it would only be able to target aircraft. aircraft are also fast and a relatively small target so its impossible to hit at range i think. simply put its too easy to notch at range.

ironically 50m is perfect for naval, any more and it would trigger on the sea floor. going higher would limit it to air target and while i might explore that later, i just dont think it can.
