There are many Service Mesh Technologies out there. We selected the best ones and compared them across multiple uses cases, from easy of installation to security and traffic management features. Our short list of the best service meshes is: Linkerd, Kuma, Istio and Consul. We will also take a quick look at Cilium, as a very promising emerging service mesh and container network technology.

[23:07] "Consul Connect is probably the most mature simply because of Consul. Consul is a decade of polished technology, battle-tested in each production environment. It's a safe choice in terms of stability and features."

Great overview. It would be interesting to see the feature for zero trust or automatic AuthZ/AuthN w JWT. This would alleviate the need to be dependent (or limited) by the application, and could facility to use federated auth w an OIDC provider that can backend to Google, Active Directory, or other Kerberos/LDAP implementation. Lastly, it would be interesting to see how the new NSM (Nginx Service Mesh) stacks up, which I suspect will not stack up to the others, as it requires a $ubscription to use an integrated ingress.
