You're not missing out on much. I only drink a few tines a year on special occasions. I still have fun without alcohol. And, the next day I'm productive. But, when I do drink, I've mastered it. I can stay at a level where I am tipsy by fully coherant. No hangovers the next day. Just drink the odd cup of water between pints of beer and make sure you eat well before and after drinking. That's the real secret to no hangovers and not making a fool out of yourself. Of course, not drinking at all is the real solution.

I'm 60 and only learned about him 8 years ago I guess. But I heard about the band he was in called "The Pogues" 30+ years ago. I think the Pogues broke up 15 years ago or more except for occasional reunion tours. I'm a rocker too, all rock, punk, metal, old school, but Shane McGowan is really an Irish thing, more Irish then punk if you ask me, so I never paid it much attention. He is actually pretty good.
