Great clip! As a healer main, it’s nice hearing these discussions and considerations for where one job excels mechanically over others. Helps enforce some critical thinking outside of those dreaded damage conversations. Amazing work as always Caer!

Pretty much everything said here is why I play SGE over SCH because in terms of what the mits/heals actually are, the classes are almost the exact same, but I can't emphasize enough how much I like being able to use Kera for things like Wroth Flames in DSR and then spamming GCD shields as the group is moving to get into position for Hot Wing/Tail. And then for as much as you're going to use Ruin II, I feel like you can just use Toxicon and it won't matter.

The moment I told my static lead, a NIN who had never touched SGE before but was going to fill for our absent healer, that SGE’s main gcd heals were instant, he was sold. Being that mobile with gcds, especially for quick center positioned heals, was a big deal in progging weird static spot strats like NA2.

Hello Caer, even though I love SCH way, way more than SGE, and have NO experience with hard content, I'm glad you point out that SGE is more than viable in ultimate content, esp as "everyone" says the meta for hardest content is AST/SCH. I really hate the concept of meta, because people should be able to play what they want and enjoy! It's a video game, you should have FUN! This is not IRL workplace, where the best tools are necessary, otherwise pain and burnout. That's what I appreciate about FF14, that all jobs are viable for all content, except BLU. Liked and subscribed!

and this is what I appreciate about other SCH players -- I think we're some of the more level headed when it comes to accepting the criticism about our job, lol. but maybe that's just the deal we made with the eldritch horrors that our job requires understanding in order to carry out

@@peachy_lili After leveling up all healers, I found AST the most fun. Due to my limits as a gamer, I decided to WHM lol, as the other healers are more complex! If I don't practice daily, I forget the other healers' toolkits and strats, and have to relearn almost from scratch (esp AST). I have utmost respect for players who main the other healing jobs!

I mean you rarely need to run and sheild. Swiftcast is always there if you absolutely need it. Seraph also provides two free instant sheilds.

It's not that you need to, it's what is easiest for prog. Don't forget, this is the perspective of a World First raider who's looking for the quickest solution to a problem. The argument here is that Sage is easier (and therefore better for prog) because it's more forgiving. Being able to shield while moving without having to rely on a 2 minute CD gives you a lot more breathing room while progging. Was your positioning slightly off but you need to get that cast off? Sage can still do it without spending a bigger resource. Yes, you can plan out your movement and casts so everything lines up perfectly and you don't need that movement shield, but how many more pulls are you going to spend practicing and perfecting that movement vs a Sage who doesn't even need to think about it in the first place? It all boils down to what's easiest and what is that player most comfortable on, and that'll differ by player. Scholar has a ton of positives that help with prog too. But the mobility aspect is what really drives a lot of Sage mains (myself included) to stick with it over Scholar.

Yeah run and shield is never a requirement. Plenty of other options. Honestly I rarely waste a gcd on a shield. I wait for times when the boss can't be hit, unless there's a serious damage mechanic coming up. Can't speak for sage but on a scholar you won't be using a lot of gcds for heals outside of progging.

Long time scholar lover. And I will say scholar has an excess of mitigation. To the point where some of it is useless. Placing fairies on controller isnt terrible. Just takes some practice. Swapping places would be fun. Maybe a gab closer to the fairy. Also a fairy follow option would be great. Make your fairy follow a certain character and have a gap closer to the fairy. Wont be as good as sages mobility but it gives you some options

- Mobility god - EXPEDIENT OVERRATED, Panhaima is the dopest button ever - Being the only healer without a set-down bubble skill - Simple enough to do your stuff and focus on mechanics - No real skill preparation or major resource management, spend as you go I needed this video so badly; I have been maining Sage this entire time and wondering if I should switch to Scholar but everything you're saying has validated my thoughts so hard THANK YOU.

@@elgatochurro agreed. It's definitely a preference but scholar is the most fun for me. When you fall into that great cool down flow, keeping everyone alive by the skin of your teeth and still dpsing constantly you feel great.

I enjoy Sage, and I wish I liked Scholar more. I like to complain about Sage but it's not really anything damage related; it just feels like everything SCH can do, SGE can do with more mobility / less planning on timing. Like I think SCH maybe gains on hard heal checks via Summon Seraph and then Dissipation, but SGE's otherwise fully mobile shielding combined with a wealth of oGCD options makes them just a lot easier to pick a tool for a mechanic and use it. Basically, I feel like SCH doesn't really have a niche -- critlo tactics is a thing but it's not even close to ever *necessary* (maybe just a nice-to-have), and as you guys note SCH has something comparable in Zoe -> Euk Diag -> Holos/Panhaima. tl;dr buff scholar and give them something more unique please
