Great job making this video. Great instructions for anyone doing this themselves. You really should torque those inner control arm bushes at ride height as they add spring rate preloaded at full suspension extension and will raise the car slightly. Life of the rubber bushes will also be reduced as they are twisted more. This can be done when you do the wheel alignment as it will be at ride height and easily accessible from under the car. Thanks for the video anyway.

We appreciate the added insight! Ethan is getting an alignment today and is seeing if they’ll torque them correctly, or we’ll re-torque soon when we adjust ride height. Benefits of filming our modifications… thousands of extra eyes to see what we missed 👀👍🏼🫡

Nicely done video. And you captured some of the ‘mistakes’ that can be made, so that will help people better plan their work. As a few others have mentioned, the suspension bolts need to be tightened with the suspension under load. One way to do that, corner by corner, is to jack the corner until the full corner weight is lifted, and that corner just starts to rise off the jackstand. Then, tighten the bushing bolts and lower shock bolt. Repeat for each corner.
@youmongrel
@youmongrel 11 ай бұрын
Is it safe to jack it by the wheel mount directly until load is reached, or does in need to be via the tire? Sure would be a lot easier to reach everything the first way...

Great video. However, I’m concerned that y’all have twisted UCA bushings, given that you torqued those bolts w/car off ground.

Thanks for the video. I am not the most mechanically inclined person but I can follow direction. This video inspired me and then I found the @MiataChannel version and realized I can do this. I had both videos up and just went through step by step. I did this solo and it took me some time but overall it was not that difficult. I decided I would be ok with MeisterR Sportives for my 2016 NC. I made a good choice for my needs. The difference is amazing.

first off; great run through on installing coilovers. 👍 Plus though I've ended up a Honda guy, almost by mistake, I have huge respect/envy towards Mazda guys. This is the second MeisterR vid that's come up in my feed this week for some reason. Though I _was_ discussing them with a mate of mine a week ago.. The feckers are scanning our brains!! 😲😅 As I commented on the other vid: I fitted a set of these(pretty much the same 'road use' spec as yours) to my car(98 JDM Integra Type R) well over ten years ago, not long after the company started iirc, and after 140,000 kms/65+k miles in all weathers and over all sorts of roads, as it's my daily driver, I can report the damned things are still going strong. Very little corrosion either. I know and have known a fair few folks in the tuner dept. in my time, and that's very impressive for coilovers. Value for money isn't in it. Also, I don't know what it's like these days, but the lad who started the company in the UK(JarrickJerrick?) was very active on the various car forums(remember them..) at the time, and always very open and very quick to respond to questions and give advice. Sound bloke.

Great video! You can also drill the centers of your strut tower brace to gain access to the knobs. Thats what I did so i can easily make adjustments. After I drilled, I just painted black the portion that was drilled and it looks pretty clean.

The Fox coils that FM sell are AMAZING and I considered them BUT they are $2400 and the MeisterRs were $1200 and with so many other mods I want to do, I couldn't justify it being twice the cost.

I heard the steering feel and response is A LOT better with Meisters vs stock or even Ohlins, which damp better but are numb. Is that your impression? Also, how is the club version. It's not that much more expensive and if it rides decently on the street and gives that same front end feel, I might go for that!

all the Miata forums on the internet say you need to torque the a-arm bolts with the weight of the car on the suspension or it can end up twisting the a - arm bushings... you didn't do that...do you see that as an issue or is it a lot of noise for nothing....
@ochayethegnu2915

I went with the Clubsport versions of the same coilovers. I think they're identical but run slightly different spring rates and a lower initial ride height. However I don't feel a need to do sway bars as a result. The last thing I need is any more roll stiffness as it would come at the compromise of grip. I'd only really look at sway bars if i was moving to racing slicks instead, but then you start seriously stressing out the rest of the car. As for the adjustment extenders, I got the boot ones and for the front, i just drilled holes in the existing stock strut brace, it works fine.

I would look for shops that people trust in your area. I would probably not go to a Mazda dealer. For example, here in northern Colorado, there’s a few shops that work on performance and/or import cars who I would trust. I’ve found them through local forums, groups, even Facebook!
