Rent a Skoda in a European trip earlier this year. It’s so much better than I expected. Drove many times in total darkness at speed limit of 130km/hr with full confidence.

I live in the UK and lease an almost base model 110bhp Kamiq since last June (23). It is seriously faster than I anticipated and has been totally reliable. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a small SUV.

I just bought one last week and i love it. Did not want too much tech & gimmicks. Still own a yeti that i also love!

Skoda is the only product I'd consider from the Volkswagen group. A friend has his older Octavia that is an icon of good reliable functional motoring. The Kamiq would seem to be be the same.

Just purchased, after 10minute urban test drive. Great price, invested the price difference on protective coatings. I can live without adaptive cruise control, digital dials, 18' wheels, wireless charging and styling. Not sure they calculate to $5000+ dollars. Actually would have preferred a glazed roof to all those add-ons, anyway. Excited for the drive to work each day 🎉.

I couldn't agree more with your comments, it's a great value compact SUV and it has somewhat addressed more recent comments that Skoda Australia had lost its way and were no longer the great value Euro brand they once were. I'd also pick the Skoda Kamiq over the Volkswagen T-Cross every time! I bought a Skoda Kamiq 110TSI Style last year and our second car is a 2021 Volkswagen Polo 85TSI Comfortline (With Drivers Assist), both are great cars and we're really happy with them! Will be watching what Skoda Australia does with regards to pricing when the facelifted Kamiq arrives as it's on our radar to replace the Polo in the next 12 months.

3 weeks in with new runout Kamiq, superb to drive, roomy door access for my 193cm, love the sport setting the drive setting is underwelming (pull back gear lever when in D1,2,3 etc & let it return switches to S1,2,3 etc shown top rhs of data screen, more revs less lugging, holds gears longer, much more responsive), great price-my ford focus was $24k new 14 years ago.

Hey Tom, I had never considered Kamiq before, but based on your review we went and took a test drive, liked it so much, truly it seemed to be a great value, so we placed an order for the runout model. The showroom then advised that a new runout would take about a month to arrive. They had a demo signature model available with the 0.9% finance offer. We liked the signature even better, so we finally bought that one. It’s been a week and we’ve loved it so far, it drives so well. Anyone looking for an entry level small suv, would surely recommend the runout kamiq, excellent value, drives really well, smooth, powerful and efficient engine, seating is comfortable, dashboard has a feeling of being well built, audio system is really good. If you can get a demo version, Skoda has a 0.9% finance option in Apr which is just excellent. Thank you Tom!

That's good to hear! Quite a deal you managed to nab for the Signature.

@@chasingcars Thanks for the feedback John. We just had our 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer written off and looking for a new vehicle. Young couple but need future space for future kids! Really struggling to decide between this Skoda Kamiq and the new Hyundai i30 Sedan Hybrid which has amazing consumption. Any advice from Tom would be greatly appreciated. Given from what I've read online about people complaining about VW reliability and their Turbo Diesel engines, makes me hesitant on a Skoda, although the i30 Sedan not being ANCAP safety tested isn't great either. I am aware I am comparing a small SUV to a sedan, although small-medium size-wise I think they're similar. Our budget is mid 30k. Any other models you would recommend Tom, for a small family? My girlfriend will be driving it mainly though, so don't really want a RAV4/Kia Seltos size either. I have looked at the Kia Cerato too, although why is it so loooong?! Thanks guys!

About a month ago, a ute ran a stop sign and wrecked a Skoda Octavia Wagon that I bought new nine years ago and had no plans on replacing. The insurance company offered an MG3 "or similar" as a rental, but I was given a Kamiq Style. At first, I was a little disappointed. I was looking forward to seeing just how bad an MG3 really is for a week or two. To quote FLCL, "Sometimes eating really bad ramen can be fun, too." However, since it has been more than a month and I'm still waiting on my claim, I'm increasingly glad I got upgraded. My only real complaints are the lack of a fan speed control on the climate panel, forcing me to use the touchscreen when I want a little more airflow. And, in an effort to minimize (the admittedly great) fuel consumption, the gearbox tends to hold a higher gear, resulting in a mildly unpleasant groaning and vibration from the engine. Putting it in sport mode helps (the gearbox allows the engine to get more into the power band before shifting), but it is enough that my wife doesn't like driving it, preferring her smoother, quieter Kia EV6. But those issues aside, the Kamiq has been an exceptional commuter for the last month. Not sure if I would buy it, though, given the Skoda Scala and Octavia Wagon exist.

Maybe you should declare this as an advertorial and not a review. Stop feeding at the car company trough and give proper honest reviews that you advertise. FFS this type of paid journalism has earned you an un-subscribe!!!!!!!!

The only person paying for this journalism is our owner, Budget Direct. Chasing Cars produces independent journalism - if you don't like the findings, we're comfortable with that. What if, just say, they review a car that is genuinely good, and well priced? How exactly should a car reviewer cover that story to satisfy you? Call it bad when it isn't?!? Chasing Cars is the only car review channel I've heard come straight out and say "do not buy this car" on one of their reviews. How's that for honesty?
