If opting for only one side thruster my choice would be for a bow thruster. You can steer the stern by using the propeller thrust even when reversing. Sort bursts in ahead with the rudder hard over will change the heading while maintaining way in reverse. It takes a bit of practice, pick a quiet spot.

😁👍 conventional wisdom points to the bow thruster but there’s lots of reasons to consider the aft thruster too. Be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss my thruster episode

Sometimes it takes a while, Boatbuilding isn't the only thing we do. I will be splashing my Thompson in the spring, 6 years after starting.

You should look at a Wallas diesel cooker, looks like a induction cooker. Works great cost a few bucks but it is worth it

Great video. Regarding tip #5 on electronics, I work on private/business jets with cockpits full of the latest and greatest pilot BS, and without fail every airplane that comes in has a pair of ipads in the cockpit that the pilots would rather use than all the bells and whistles built into the damn thing. 😀 So I would imagine that there is more than likely an app that can perform almost any task you're after without being married to a built in glass cockpit that will be out of date before you ever get on the water.

Thank you for the comment. I think these are great lessons and it’s comforting to know you’re seeing same results in different fields. 😁👍

Who made the white and blue vessel that you were photographing end the end (21:21 mark)? You also commented about taking another boat trip. If true, I hope you post it.

That boat is a converted Belgian Lifeboat from the 1920s and is featured in my Episode 57 to Brittany France. Check it out. Thanks for your comment 👍😁 kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5q0hpR5pZl9gZI

Boat and RV companies and picnic supply companies think people shrink down when they go on vacation. Recently however, groundbreaking discoveries have proven that in reality, not so much. My wallet shrinks however. That DOES happen.

I was going to ask about speed. So, max 6 kts. What about fuel consumption? This is diesel? About how many gallons per hour at cruising speed?

As a Dutchie, I gotta correct you. That's not Amsterdam, Amsterdam is further to the south. The city you point out is called Den Helder. Love your content though! Glad to hear you enjoyed our country!

@@motorcityboatwerks Hahah great stuff. It's also a common joke over here that Americans always think everything in the Netherlands is close to Amsterdam (an issue in scope of the two countries), so it got a good chuckle out of me.
