I just got one . Mint condition & it’s US . I was a tad concerned about the snare assembly being tricky but it’s set up great & sounds great .

Just picked one up at an estate sale in NJ. Got a Big R 5 piece kit including this snare for $350.00. I absolutely LOVE this snare. It's got that certain tone you can't get from snare drums today, really has that vintage sound and sensitive as f%$k! Love it, thanks for the video!

I’m 72 and bought my Rogers Holiday kit when I was 16 (1966). I have 3 Yamaha kits (beech and birch) but this OldVeteran still runs with Rogers. “Old Wood” brings unbeatable provenance and TONE. That Dyno snare is VERY loud. So I typically use an old Ludwig AcroSonic. You can never have TOO many snares. Big stages get THE DYNO. My wife asked me if I would ever “hang up” gigging? “I’ll let you know someday”!! 🙄🥁🎹 I’m the Organist at church too. Music brings joy to everyone so Why stop Now?? I’m still subbing in several bands and have a trio ramping up as well. Blessings to all!! Rogers Alumni USAF VET

I agree with you 100 per cent! I’m 70 and have been playing professionally since around 1977. Retire? To what?? I have three Rogers kits .Yes you can never have enough snares! When my wife says why do you have so many snares I say….you like shoes don’t you?😀

We have an old one in the percussion room where I teach. It has the small oval badge and I have fixed it up with Puresound DS snares and good heads. It’s mostly used on a concert stand for technique and orchestral stuff where it really shines. When I was a kid they had a one like that in the front window at the music store in my hometown, across the top of a square case. I dreamed about that drum. Came across a similar metal drum named King Beat by Star (Tama later). It had a similar snare system and sounded great. Not brass as I recall but very good. Later on I had a Ludwig Super Sensitive, also with parallell snare system. Very nice. But the Dyna Sonic is outstanding.

I have this snare, came with my white Big R XP-8 power shell kit i bought new in 1979. They always talk so highly of the older Dynasonic and it commands big $$. Not sure why this gets short changed but I always thought it sounded great and your video confirms it.

I’ve got one the same, first good piece of drum gear I got. Mine has some mods (new throw, lost int muffler and snare wire brace thing gone, die-cast top hoop ) it’s been around the world with me and has been a trusty companion. Sadly I let it down by dropping it at an airport in a sleep deprived and drunken stupor and it doesn’t quite sound as great anymore. Though it still kicks. Beautiful drum.

I use a late 60s COB Powertone 14 x 5 as my main guy. The Dynasonic apparatus always intimidated me, and seems like a solution in search of a problem.

My first drum set was a Rogers 5 piece. Got it used with the butcher block wrap and that 5x14 cob dynasonic big R. I actually didn't like the kit itself... The hardware was difficult to manage (I was a beginning player) and I sold it eventually including the dynasonic. Looking back I wish I'd kept the snare but many years later I bought the dynasonic reissue and I love it.

I have one in the Script Logo (probably around 1970). I must admit it is hardly my favorite snare drum. It's a shame because I wanted one for years and when I finally got it, I was disappointed. It is a huge pain in the ass to tune and "dial in" the right sound. However, it is a very well-made snare, and I can see why many like it.

Great drum. I have a script badge COB Dynasonic and a Big R (USA) SuperTen. Isn't the throwoff called 'clockface' rather than 'tombstone'?
@SuperDrdirty Жыл бұрын
It’s been called both. The “official” name is “Clock-face” but collectors also say “Tombstone”, both work. ;)
@HamptonGuitars9 ай бұрын
I thought the rounder clockface throwoffs were 60s through early 70s Fullerton label era. Then they squared up just a bit to become called tombstones. Just my impression, I don't have pics to confirm it or not.

I have a Rogers R-380/Dynasonic Hybrid Vintage 14"x5" Snare Drum If anyone has any info or value i i appreciate it thanks

Your snare side head is probably transparent, so look at the label. If it says cleveland it is 60s, fullerton is 67-71 or so, and so on., But get the 5 digit serial number & google it & your model and you'll likely find something to help date it etc.

I have one with just Roger but the bridge said made in the usa. Serial #42073 custom built. Is my bridge on to tight becuz it's making ahole on the bottom head.
@SuperDrdirty2 жыл бұрын
If it’s making a hole then that’s no good. It’s designed to basically just “kiss” the bottom head. There are videos of how to set it up, once it’s dialed in you’re in business. Hope this helped you!

Uhh that was my first good snare I bought! $150 brand new! A fortune in 1966! It is a beast!!! Heavy but great! I later bought a 14 by 6.5 but wood!! Became my favorite! I think metal snares are too bright! But aluminum sounds great! I also had a swervomatic foot pedal!! I played that for close to fourth years! Fast! I could easily get triples out of it! Some one stole it!!! But left a pearl chain drive in it,s place!! Not quite an asshole but surely a dick!

@@cpf383 Disagree. The whole system works perfectly as designed. Lots of people just have no clue what it does and can't get what they want because they don't understand the system. I've seen even rather well-known drummer youtubers completely miss the mark on the Dynasonic system, saying it does things it doesn't and completely misunderstanding how to operate it. Sad, really. I first got a wood dyna and immediately fell in love with it, so I got a COB as well. Fantastic drums.

I'm not digging the "Big R" line of Rogers drums. Why? Aesthetics------ I hate the big 'R'..... looks like crap. Also----- I much prefer the aluminum snare drums. Ie. Ludwig Supraphonic and Acrolite. My faves. One more thing------ You are *over-selling* the Rogers Dynasonic snare drum. Be practical and play the drum in two modes... snares off.. snares on. It sells itself. Nobody gives a SHIT about anything else. Great video, btw.
@SuperDrdirty3 жыл бұрын
Well, everyone has their favorite and their go-to snare. This happens to be mine. I own a supra and an acrolite, they are of course not the same as this one. The most obvious would be that this is a brass shell and the supra and acrolite are aluminum with a bead on both and I know there are brass supras out there. Those are at a higher price point and these are more affordable but still have great build quality. In regards to "over-selling" this snare, I rather really enjoy the fact that it sounds really good and has worked very well for the music I've used it on and has made me a decent living as a drummer. I just felt like making a review since I like it... \_(ツ)_/

Well, I’ve played on mine since 1966. Professionally in jazz, rock, Nigerian hi life, big bands. I definitely give a S**t as to how it sounds and performs. Obviously you haven’t played enough to appreciate the best snare ever. Be careful making statements that speaks for everyone. Not cool, and shows you inexperience. (In response to Missy)
