Being an avid detailer and a Plastic injection moulding engineer, I wish to give you my opinion on Chinese made tooling. I have worked in the business for over 32 years and with Chinese toolmakers for 20 years and after several visits to there facilities I can categorically tell you now that they will engineer anything to whatever level you specify. They are head and shoulders above anyone else in the world. So just because you see it's made in China, do not assume it's substandard because they work to whatever quality of work you tell them to.
@steverabbits

Spot on. You can make an item to a price or build it to a quality standard, the choice is with the company that wants them manufactured it has nothing to do with it being Chinese per se

the winning lance is chinese and seems pretty good quality to me, but what you say makes sense. but I do also think theres a reputation with chinese and cheap and substandard quality and also copying thats perhaps earnt to some extent.

I went for MJJC as an upgrade to my old Ali type cannon that came second. Got to say it was a close call between the MJJC and your own offering. The reason I went for the MJJC was the price including next day delivery on Amazon. I think I'll defo add yours to the collection next, if you can get the fan stream issue corrected. It's a lovely looking unit and seems to perform well.

Thanks for featuring the 'Mini-Lance' Jon! I think it's a good starter lance as it's simple for newbies to use, or a backup like you say. Another main thing we get, is people using it to apply coatings, as it seems to be quick and simple for that scenario. Plus wallet friendly. If anyone is wondering, you can change/clean the mesh on them, but the orifice or the quick connect aren't removeable. If anyone's interested we also do cannons similar to the Autoglym/Angelwax one, as well as spare bottles.
@DetailingandtheBeast
@DetailingandtheBeast 3 жыл бұрын
If it's the same as the one on ali for 4quid, then the orifice is a 1.1 and causes pulsating on some machines. I had to drill mine out to 1.25mm to stop it being a problem. The top is also very loose as it's a kind of bayonet fitting over a typical screw. I use mine with Garage Therapy one wheel shampoo now as it's not good enough to produce a decent foam for prewash.
@blitzdetailing8604
@blitzdetailing8604 3 жыл бұрын
@@DetailingandtheBeast it's possible they're from the same supplier but I can't say 100% as there's often minor differences between them. Not had any reports of pulsating so far, nor issues with the bayonet top, and we've sold 100+ so that's a good sign. They definitely have their uses, I'm just always surprised when people think they'll get the same performance from an £8 cannon as a £30 one.

This was a great review Jon. Thanks for taking the time to obtain and review all these. It might be the most thorough review and testing of various snow foam lances ever done on KZbin. I do love the LOOK of that Carbon Collective one. As far as looks, it wins hands down. And I also really like the looks of the Angelwax one in the gold color. That one just looks really good. I'd really like to get a hold of one of those Dr. Dirt bottle but those are hard to find and almost impossible to get here in the USA. I just bought the Griot's Garage BOSS Foam Cannon Kit. That thing is incredible. The best feature is the fact I can hook up Griots three different foaming chemical bottles directly to the lance. It has this unique double thread system which has both a wide mouth bottle AND a smaller thread inside that allows you to hook the product bottles right to the lance. Then they have the metering tips so you don't even have to mix up your product which I love. It distributes the proper amount automatically without mixing. It's got that same pick up tube that the MJJC Pro Cannon has but you put these small tips into the small metal ball and that's how the product get's metered. And they give you three different tips so you can go light, regular, or heavy dilution ratios. Griot's did all the work figuring out the mixing ratios for you with the metering tips. It is a brilliant design and produces really good foam. I also have the little Karcher foam lance made by Karcher and for what it is, it is decent. It's definitely not on the level of the higher end ones you reviewed here, but it does get the job done. That bit at 18:40 was hilarious. Dr. Jon........The PHD of detailing!

that griot one looks great actually. just cant get it in the UK right now. the problem will be the price tag. in the USA lances are a bit more expensive, so if this does hit the UK Im wondering if its gonna be like 80-90 quid. And no one will buy it at that price. hope they can get it over here and get the price down.
@joevanseeters2873
@joevanseeters2873 3 жыл бұрын
@@ForensicDetailing Yeah, that is the downside to the Griots BOSS Foam Cannon. It's very PRICEY. Even here in the USA I think it is the most expensive one. Fortunately I got it as a birthday gift from my wife! LOL. It's fairly popular over here, but, really, only enthusiast's or people with more money than brains buy it! Your everyday weekend warrior probably isn't going to buy it. The MTM Foam cannon is very popular here and has a loyal "cult following" The MJJC Pro is taking off and is a very popular one now. That does look like a great foam lance for the price. The only reason I got the Griot's was for the self metering tips and use of their 3 foaming soaps/sealants that are specific to it. A friend of mine turned me onto it so I caved and asked my wife for one for my birthday. The deal actually wasn't too bad. It was $165 US for the "KIT" but included the Foam Cannon, an extra replacement filter, metering tips, all three chemicals for it, and their large PFM drying towel. The internals are all stainless steel so that's a plus to help on longevity. Overall it's up there with the MTM or MJJC I would say. Thanks again for the review and test.

Thanks for another great review. I bought the MJJC Pro last year during lockdown after watching a foam canon review by Pan the organiser. I’ve been really pleased with it but was looking forward to getting the Autoglym Lance. I bought one recently when they were on offer. Much to my surprise the MJJC out performs it in my opinion. Looks like you agree.

MJJC is traditionally an "aliexpress" brand. When I did a "Best of aliexpress lances" video, I compared a good number of the aliexpress lance offerings. It featured the MJJC pro v2 and that mini lance (which was bottom of the pile) amongst others. The MJJC finished top by a good number of points. It even beat the autobrite PA lance (used as a benchmark product), and that wasnt a popular opinion at the time. I guess now you've said it, it will hold more weight. 😉🙄

@Encantada-vacation I think the price increases are due to them becoming a respectable brand. They can now more then justify their premium especially when compared to the market. Also Aliexpress now charge UK VAT so its not as cheap as it once and not much difference to buying form UK products Also apparently international shipping costs have supposedly increased.

As a fellow pro detailer, I can't help but being a bit disappointed about this test. It would have been much more interesting to see what kind of foam result each lance produced given the same PIR. The MJJC is not better for pulling the product up faster, just different. Would have loved to see what that little funny lance would have produced had it had the same PIR as the MJJC. I own a few MTM's, an MJJC, and some other lances, so it's not a brand thing. I just think it would have given the general viewer a more realistic picture of what the lances can do given the same product to water output ratio.

Well, if you mix the soap so that the total output is the same between the MTM and MJJC, the MTM will produce equally as good foam, if not better. The fact that the MJJC sucks the product up faster does not make it better, just different. To get the same output you need to adjust your mix accordingly. Would have been interesting to see how the foam test here would have been, had they all used the same PIR.

@dave2166 2 жыл бұрын
@@AB-80X cant agree with the summation that the comparison is done badly or misrepresents any brand disproportionately more or less than the others. its a test based on the findings on that day with a particular brand of SF. i have one brand of foam which doesn't respond well when used with it, whilst others are fine. the market moves on and new foams are formulated and new foam cannons arrive, doesn't mean the MJJC would win now if this was repeated nor if a different foam was used either. in the final analysis, you watch these tests, lots of them and form an opinion based on your budget, your needs, the products you use and the pressure washer you use too.

Thank you for another brilliant, in-depth, review Jon, really appreciate it. I actually use your 2nd place choice. I find that it is plenty good enough, while maybe not being the very best, but for the £11 I paid, it has lasted me a couple of years already. I am not that bothered about super-thick foam (each to their own), as I find when it is slightly runnier, the dirt actually slides off better (using Bilt Hamber auto foam), and actually cleans more efficiently. With really thick foam, I tend to sometimes see a slight layer of grime, still left on the surface, after I have power rinsed it off. I think for people who don't let their cars get too dirty anyway, and constantly keep on top of the cleaning, those cheapo lances are brilliant for the money. Might upgrade to the MJJC when (if) my cheapo one finally dies.

Brilliant comparison as always! I will be adding the MJJC to my collection. I have found so many variables with foam cannons. Using my industrial pressure washer at 140bar/10Lmin my PF22 makes super thick foam with AS ultra mousse where the polar blaster is very thin. Swap it over to the likes of Gyeon foam the PF22 is thin and the polar blaster is thick every time. Same dilutions same pressure I can’t get my head around it!

Glad you picked up on the fact the scale is unusable on the CC lance John! I own one and was so disappointed. A) makes it a bugger for measuring out product. B) means to figure out how much product you have left is by 'feel'. So if I don't use the full bottle of foam then I have no idea how much I have left and therefore if I need to get the jugs out. I like the one which finished on 2 place, the most generic "Alibaba" lance. Although, while it's affordable and does the job quiet well, I don't like that its falling easily, the narrow neck when filling up with the solution and it doesn't give you sufficient thickness with the standard 1.25mm orifice alongside with a lower pressure washer. However, when you update the orifice to 1.1mm that good be sorted, but because of the other 2 dislikes I mentioned, I have the MJJC Foam cannon sitting on my table and I cannot wait to use that. I am happy that you also found that one of the best from the list in this video.

It does give you the same foam thickness as long as your PIR is the same. Once lance pull up 300 ml of mix in 32 seconds, the other did it in 45. If you adjust the mix so that the output ratio is the same, then you're good to go. Can I also point out that the neck of the MTM allows you to fit the spray head to just about every 250ml to 1l bottle out that can come in very handy for a lot of reasons. If you're out on a job and something happens to your MJJC bottle for example, you're pretty much screwed. If you have an MTM, just grab one of your old empty soap bottles and use that. Heck, you can use a soda bottle if needed be. MTM did not make the neck narrow because they did not think to make it easy to fill, they made it narrow so that it fits with the standard neck which most bottles use. Besides, most detailers either use pumps or jugs with tabs on them, so the size of the neck is really a non-issue. It was made with the pro detailer in mind, not the hobbyist.

 @AB-80X Fair enough. I do use an MTM Pf22 nowadays and it's decent stuff. And I completely agree with the advantage of MTM's standard neck, I still do prefer the MJJC for more variety (scale) of the density that offers with the same chemical. Both MTM and MJJC are excellent lances, and both have their own pros and cons, then it will be us, users, who decide which fits better to the person uses it. For me, MJJC wins over MTM. Simple reasons: bigger scale to adjust density, LEAKPROOF! Yes, if the bottle fails, you sucked, but for me personally, I always carry more than one lances with me and I am happy that my hands stays dry when turn the bottle upside down for any reasons. MTM seems to be the more quality stuff, yet, I like it, I prefer MJJC over it for certain reasons I mentioned above.

And the one thing that all of these don't have that I have always wanted them to have, is colored scale markings for measurement. @@as680783 How precise do you actually need to be? I know our pumps are quite precise in pumping out 30 ml per pump. If you want to be precise with water, forget the markers and just weigh the damn thing. If you think about it, there are so many ways to measure things prior to actually mixing it in the bottle. If you are a pro detailer like me, here's an idea that can make things really fast. I store my various premixes in 25 litre jugs with a tap on them. I have four jugs with premixed Auto Foam for example. three is for 3% and the other for 5% PIR. Anything I need in between I mix on the fly. That's why there's an adjustment screw. You are wasting a ton of time if you mix every little container of prewash or foam you use. Much better to just mix a big batch once per week, month or what ever. Even if you are just detailing at home, do it this way. Buy the amount of 1 litre bottles of what ever foam or prewash product that you use, and mix it in a larger 5 l jug with a tap cap on it. A 5 l mix will last most hobbyists a long time if they don't waste the product. If you get the hang on things, you can foam down a car with 150-200 ml of mix, sometimes less. That's 25 car washes for a 5 l mix. Just something to think about Keep it simple.

I've been using the MTM (Mosmatic lance) since 2018 and my favourite feature compared to the PA I had before is it's reliability. With the PA I'd find myself stripping it down and rebuilding it every 6 months. With the MTM the only thing I do is run a bottle of clean water through the system once the chemicals have been used. I agree the bottle's lack of balance is very bad. I'm going to pick up the new one, now I know it exists. 😀

If I may offer up some thoughts on trying to see how they perform if they run the same PIR. Yes the MJJC performs well and put out thick foam, but it also sucks up product insanely fast at 9.375 ml of product per second. The MTM was 45 seconds so 6.66 ml per second, which means that the MTM needs 420 ml of product if the ratio was 700 ml of water and 300 ml of product in the MJJC, so 420 ml of product and 580 ml of water. In that case, it's much more equal. What does the better foam matter if the only reason is a higher consumption. I own both so I could really care less, but at the same PIR, the MTM creates better foam for me. Not that I want "useless" shaving cream, but I do want my Auto Foam to stay on for a bit and the MTM is superior for me in that situation. Not sure I see the wide neck as a plus. For many of us it is nice to be able to screw the head on to just about any bottle out there. The older MTM might topple, but it fits on any bottle out there with that standard size neck. Heck, you can even fit it directly on to a BH 1 litre bottle and adjust the dosage on top rather than use the mixing bottle. I have a few set up like that and I would not be able to do that with the wide neck bottles.

Quick unrelated question for you Jon, do you as the content provider have any say in which adverts appear, when they appear, how long they are or any other factor? I know it's all algorithms these days but I often wonder how the advertising parameters are decided on. I guess the more subscribers and views the more likely you are to have more, or longer or more frequent adverts?
@ForensicDetailing

you can select like which adverts you put in banner adds skipable adds mid roll ads. you tube decides how many it puts in. It put 7 in this video which is ridiculous ive just removed 3. Ive fed back to you tube that a creator should be able to set a hard cap and they should include visability of skipable adds during publishing to avoid like too many adverts. I doubt they will change it though so Im kind of reliant on guys telling me in the comments.

Using you recommendations in the past of BH snow foams (got both now) I went for the cheapo aliexpress one just to try it out. As the BH autofoams are pretty runny anyway and it's the lack of additional stuff in it I like. I also have a small fairly low pressure washer anyway - its a perfect combo for performance, value, and i never use anywhere near what it can hold so I just leave liquid in it between washes to stop it falling over. Great vid as always.

I have the same foam cannon and use the same BH snowfoams, one tip I've found is to NOT top up the bottle with water or if you do only add maybe 100-200 ml, the foam is much thicker. You would think it would run out too soon but surprisingly I've found it doesn't! I use 300ml plus 100 or 200 of water (just enough to be able to do one car) and easily do a whole car before it runs out, and I actually get BH Auto Foam to foam better than normal even with my poxy Lidl/Parkside pressure washer! Tbh I don't get why people top up the bottle with water, you are in effect pre-diluting it prior to the jet washer diluting it further, it's no wonder people can't get it to foam well. I'd like to see someone else try it and see if they get the same better foam that I get or if my cheapo AliExpress cannon is somehow just a one-off (clue- it's not!)
