The best Wizard build for solo in Dark and Darker. This is the "Bonk Wizard" build that utilizes the magic staff with ignite. Being able to poke with spells like Zap and Fireball while buffing yourself with Ignite, Invis, Ignite is a powerful combo for ranged/melee combat. This is by far the most successful build in the current meta of Dark and Darker.

Really new to this game and wizard looks like a lot of fun but I've heard it really struggles in solos, would it be worth it for me to try to learn wizard or should I learn the game on a different class? Also looking at Warlock and that one looks really cool to so idk haha. Another question, when should I start queueing for high roller? Shoud I just stick to normals for awhile? Oh and finally what quest things should I be focusing on?

Wizard is the hardest class to play and you'll spend hundreds of hours before you start playing good. It is also the most rewarding and fun class in the game when you learn it. If you have a lot of time to play and are ready to analyze every mistake you've made and gameplay of top wizards then sure, play wizard. If not, warlock is one of the easiest classes, one of the best solo classes and is the best for learning (and fighting) PvE because he has infinite and very fast healing and great PvE tools, bad in trios and isn't nearly as fun as wizard. Start queuing for HR as soon as you start destroying mobs in normals. HR has harder mobs, "black" mobs will have special attacks like double attacks and are hard to deal with but it's rewarding, you'll get good loot there. As of right now HR PvP is uncommon as people just farm AP there

Because you need to use a perk slot and give up a spell slot for ignite for it to become better than crystal sword

You have zap and lightning strike for when your duo is in melee range, but you can also throw fireballs when you get confident enough to splash only enemies or even hit him with the splash if it means you know the enemy will die already. However you should be doing ranged damage way before your fighter goes in so that the enemies are softened up when the melee breaks out to finish them off

Pressing S to go backwards multiplies your speed by 2/3 (66.67%) so if you want to move back quickly you have to only use A, W, D

That ranger fight is exactly why it is so painful for me to play ranger even though i love the fantasy of the bow and arrow gameplay. Granted, I'm not the greatest shooter player but my aim is far from terrible too but I feel like it is so easy to dodge the majority of the arrows in this game, making it almost a pure guessing game and random if you hit or not, and then if you hit it doesn't do that much damage. Most of the time people just run me down and tank the couple of arrows and my best case scenario is to escape with my movespeed advantage.

Ranger is weird like that. You always need an advantage to win any fight. I like trapping, I like ratting in the dark with double crossbows, third partying, and also setting traps for the druid-rat to die to in the dark lol, but it feels like you almost always lose versus a determined melee player blind rushing you.

I've used this build many times. It's so strong, but boring imo. I hate not being able to have our other spells like IB, LS, etc. It's definitely the strongest solo wizard build in the game though. Nice fights

Agreed, it is definitely less fun than 10 spell caster. Unfortunately unless you build a lot of move speed, caster wizard gets obliterated in Solos. At least you can hybrid cast/bonk with fire ball and zap.

@red2314 💯 this build is probably one of the strongest in the game imo. Yeah, caster wiz needs a lot of MS and gear to be even viable in solos. You can definitely snowball with this build. People underestimate it, but it's very strong
