As a Grumpy Old Woman who traveled a lot in her younger days (and didn't keep a journal), I can confirm this is the BEST travel advise ever.

Maurice have you ever considered making a video about your current and past career? I've watched a bunch of your videos and been subbed for a while, and aside from the products listed on your website I have no idea what it is you do for work that requires you to travel for such a significant portion of your year. Felt like a bit of missing context for this video and other videos where you'v mentioned your travel plans, but maybe I just missed the one video where you did explain it! You've also mentioned in the past that you used to consult in conflict zones, I'd LOVE to learn more about that.

I love the idea of bringing a mini photo printer with you while you travel so can create a live document as you go. Otherwise on longer trips you forget things and it can be overwhelming to try and capture the trip when you get home. You’ve definitely got me thinking. Traveling 20k miles this month.

I got a five-year diary over 20 years ago and, because I wasn't good about writing in it every day, I just kept it going all these years. Still haven't filled every page for every day. Totally worth starting one for those who fear they will fail at keeping up with it.

I spent a year and a half in England 40 years ago, I long ago got rid of the big stuff, but a journal with bus tickets, play programs, small books on tourist visits etc bring back great memories.

Loved the idea of using a compact printer to create custom souvenirs. While my vlogs certainly capture experiences, being able to print photos on the spot will let me preserve memories in a tangible way.

Enjoyed the video! You made me rethink a bit of the word SOUVENIR.... I grew up associating the word souvenir with something you have to go give to someone else but now I think I will for my next trip start buying SOUVENIR for me to remind myself of the trip and journey I been on.

Instead of Gachapon you could also look out for collectibles with your drinks. Sodas, coffee, green tea and water in konbini and super markets often do come with collectibles of different kinds like anime characters, mini trains or other toys. So instead of grabbing your drink from a vending machine might be better off having a look at the next konbini for pretty much the same price and some nice addon.

I want to thank you for posting this video. It inspired me to start a scrap book / journal on my recent trip to China. It's lookig great so far with tickets and business cards from hotels and I even started doing some sketches and caligraphy in it. I was tempted to get a photo printer but since me and my wife make a photobook each year I felt that I could leave the snaps for that. I would still watch the shit out of a comparative review of the Kodak, Polaroid and Xiaomi portable photo printers if you made one. Please do. Keep up the good work

We love to pick up a Christmas ornament, or something that can be hung on our tree. I'm a numbers person, so I especially love things that have latitude/longitude of where we are. I make sure to date them with a sharpie. So much fun to put our tree up! We ate at McD's in Israel 2 years ago. Funny to see it written "backwards" in Hebrew except for the golden arch "M".

Love the video. Would love to see a video where you get into some more detail on how you journal, especially as that Ink printer is such a cool addition. I've jumped on the TN bandwagon but I'm struggling to know how to use it to it's fullest

Hi Maurice. Thanks so much for your videos especially your gear reviews. I’m wondering how you came to choose the Canon printer. I use the Polaroid Hi-print and love the quality but the paper is pretty expensive comparatively I think. My favourite souvenir is my journal with business cards and photos and then I spend time when I get home to create a photo album dedicated to each trip if it has been a significant travel adventure. Don’t need anything else.

Hi Maurice, I hope you see this. I am a Highschool student preparing to study abroad in Austria this upcoming fall. My exchange will last an entire year, and I will take many, MANY weekend trips, or several week trips to various European countries throughout my exchange year. I watched your Pakt review, and then your budget backpack review. My question is what are the differences for you in the two backpacks? The 80$ and 345$? Would you think investing in a Pakt would be wiser, considering the upcoming events in my life? Or could I get by with a cheaper one? Thank you.

Don't photos printed using thermal tech fade fast if you're in a tropical climate? I used to save tickets and receipts of places I've visited before but over time they became blank pieces of paper because they were printed using thermal ink. I'm not someone who journals daily but I do like the idea of writing daily blurbs to document everyday experiences.

Some use the ZInk system while others use polaroid photo type paper or dye sublimation with an overcoat to protect it from UV and others. Just google some reviews as the size can make a difference.
