in rosewood pd i found 2 shotguns, a pistol and a carbine with a shit tonne of ammo (like 30-40 boxes of ammo)- standard spawn settings for guns but one higher for ammo so maybe normally wouldn't have as much ammo

I feel like an often overlooked place is the small town of Eckron in the middle of the map. The town has a hunting store, tool shop, and its own police station. Compared to Louisville there will be significantly less zombies in this area. I know I would much rather go there than risk everything on a solo Louisville run.

There is also another gun store a short drive from eckron that has 8 gun cabinets completely unlocked and display cases behind a locked door in the back. From Eckron take the main road south and make a right at the second intersection that isn’t a dirt road. Follow that road until you see an auto shop and there will be the gun store off to the right past a food store and dr office. There is also a gas station in that small town near the auto shop.

in previous builds i would agree however as of late the Ekron zombie population has been quite large and often those stores have alarms. if you go, just be prepared to face a potentail med size horde of zombies

One of my absolute favourites and a spot you didnt include is the army surplus store located north west of Rosewood. Few zombies and a lot of nice stuff. Survival surplies, tents, warm clothes and lots of guns and ammo

This maybe should have been labeled for advanced players, since most of these locations work on the assumption that you already have guns, and you are just looking to use those guns to secure even more guns It probably should have started by mentioning hitting the local PD for your spawnpoint as step one, before trying to hunt down these more difficult locations. I'd love to see a guide for non-gun users, like the best places to find the best melee weapons, or different tools of each type, like good places to find metalworking tools, sledgehammers, axes, etc.

Best places to check for the things you asked about in Vanilla gameplay at the start would be 1. tool sheds (easily visible on the map, if you don't know where you're going or aren't familiar, since they are easy to distinguish from other buildings (much smaller and always close to the house on the same property) 2. Tool closets (basically just tool sheds but indoors and only usually 1 metal shelf or a couple of cardboard boxes) 3. Survivor houses (already boarded up homes which have melee weapons, guns/ammo, and staches of canned goods but often have small hoards of zombies inside so be cautious)

There's a Army Surplus Store to the north west of Rosewood, just follow the highway outside of RW's north exit, head west until the highway bends north and follow the road that goes off the highway after the bend. That place has a great supply of weapons, backpacks, armor, and ammunition. It also have several shops nearby for medical supplies, supermarket for food...etc. Down side is, the street mall parking lot and the surrounding area has quite a bit of zombies. In term of accessibility, you'll need a sledgehammer to get to the inner most section, but even without a sledgehammer, you can still grab tons of ammo, guns and equipment, so for those who don't have a sledgehammer, I highly recommend this location. I would say Abundance 5/5, Risk Factor 3/5, Accessibility 4/5.

4:28, I don’t know if anyone is goin to read this but you can also climb in from the roof. Usually many roof tiles are broken, so you would only need the planks to build the stairs, a fence and then some sheet rope to climb down and up

Yup. If you don't have a sledgehammer, and carpentry isn't high enough to build stairs, you can simply take apart all of the furniture in Twiggy's bar, and build a walkway out the upstairs window, over to the gun store with the wood. Make a fence and sheet rope to get down inside, and to get back out.

Well you can break into any building, metal bars or not, with molotov. If you dont mind looting burning building or if you have fire extinguisher. With fir extinguisher you can just throw molotov outside, start putting out fires that are further from the building and once the first wall burns, you go inside and extinguish the rest

I'm a fan of police stations in the smaller towns for early game looting too. I've heard/read of some folks using fire and an extinguisher when sledgehammers aren't available. I've been tempted to try it, but suspect fire can get out of control too easily.

Great video for the definitely most visited gun places :) While in LV, I also often times loot the second PD which has 2 loot rooms, one at the ground floor, the other on the 2nd floor with also quite a bit of shelves. Of course in the LV mall, there is another gun store and as you mentioned many other locations.

an easy way to get inside certain gunstores without sledghammers is Molotov's, just throw on at the building and extinguish the fire with a cooking pot of water and you can climb through the burnt section of wall. Don't aim at the shutters although they transform to the burnt wall appearance you still cant climb through. the drawback to this is the risk to the loot and the noise made

There are weapon lockers at the top of all the guard towers around the Louisville containment perimeter as well. One of the largest cache's of weapons and ammo in the game is the guard armory on the top floor of the annex attached to the Rosewood Prison.

Also up in the north-west corner of Louisville there are two pawn shops which have good gear. They need sledgehammers to get in, but there's a decent amount of guns and ammo, but I also found a few katanas in there and, ironically, another sledgehammer.

I had an established and comfortably living stealthy ish melee character pick up a 9 mil. at this point life was comfortable and boring so i took the time to figure out the loading mechanisms and what not. it was so fun. I retired him and deleted the save file and started from scratch with a veteran. WOW so much better. guns are loud af and lead to a way bigger battle than you are used to at first. however it also makes killing them much easier. I finally died on my veteran character at 1750 zombies 3 months in. I got scratched about 3 times total the whole run because i just would roll up honk the horn. zhoot zeds through windows and let them come out of the buildings to me. drive byes work good for the lone stragglers if you arent worried about looting the zombies as well. dont even have to get out of the car. also going into buildings is dangerous because of the sneaky ones. so after i clear the outside i listen for inside Zs bangin on doors to get out. in that case i just go away and be productive and let them break the door down over time. for negative traits i just took all the loud and conspicuous stuff because when you use a gun stealth is gone anyway. turned out to be my favorite playstyle. and endgame is much more involved because you can never get enough ammo and you need guns for repair. oh and i killed my veteran because it was cold and i was tring to build a forward base. while walking back to the truck to get more lumber i stepped onto the fire and killed myself. now I have a new rule. rule 1. no stairs. my 6 month character died from a one story drop whilst over loaded. I call them the stairways to heaven. ovsiosly not internal prebuilts with railings and not fall potential i mean any construction or external work that offers a chance of falling. rule 2. no campfires. ever. period.

I play on level 4 initial zombie populations, so all these places are swarming with zeds right from the start. Usually i like to hit first the police station on riverside by approaching it from the river and then entering by the back door to avoid the zs. Then get a vehicle and hit the surplus army shop that is at the west edge of the map by parking somwhat away ans entering the shop from the north, avoiding all the zeds that are swarming just south of it. That shop is usually bountyful.

Here’s my go to for a super underrated loot run, and I don’t know exact names of locations so the project Zomboid map project is probably the best way to get a reference for what I’m saying. If you go from Riverside all the way to the very top left mini town on the map, like it will be the furthest settlement at the very top left corner of the map there is a small gun store with a few lockers and counters where you can generally get pretty good starter loot. Next door there is a wilderness survival store that has all the survival gear you will ever need. Also a gas station for fuel and snacks and bottles of water. From there you keep going down the highway and snake your way about a mile down to this other little town. There is a auto shop, small grocery store, pharmacy, and a military surplus store which I would probably rank as the best place for weapons, primarily guns and ammo, on the entire map without going into Louisville. It’s also where I found my first ever sledgehammer. There’s also a few warehouses even further down where you can get any tools and construction supplies you need. Two super super underrated locations and relatively safe to loot, especially compared to any locations that are in or near towns. Also if you spawn in riverside and that’s the route you are going there is a bar on its outskirts where you can get bourbon. All you need to do is get a car, park the driver side next to something inaccessible, even just another car. Honk the horn let the zombies group up and then throw a moltov. You can clear the entire area in both places safely this way and have access to an insane amount of every kind of loot that you need. All you need is a car. I know I just wrote a book of a comment but this is something I feel like a lot of players, especially newer ones don’t know about. I literally just came across the area by chance when my friend and I were making our way from riverside to the surplus store. If you can get a van and a trailer, you can literally do one loot run and be set to go make a base out in the middle of nowhere or go do whatever you do. You will have everything you need. TLDR: Go to the very top left town on map for guns ammo and survival gear. Make your way down to nearby military surplus store because more weapons and ammo. Also pharmacy and tools and food nearby. Use project Zomboid map project.

Military dormitory in March Ridge has atleast 30 boxes of shotgun shells a bit less of 223. and 308. rounds/boxes. Believe it or not they all spawn inside of wardrobes and this building complex has 4-5 floors the complex has 2 rooms per section which it has 4 of on every floor and they all separate into 4 bedrooms on each side making that 8 bedrooms with a wardrobe per a bedroom that's 128-160 (with a fifth floor or not can't remember) wardrobes and since it's a military place it's guaranteed to spawn a gun in 1 of 8 wardrobes, since 90% spawns in rifle cases they come with 1-2 additional boxes of ammo so far for me there haven't been any M14 but I got more ammo the from all PD's and military surplus stores on the map combined.

A good way to get into buildings which need sledgehammers, as long as they have some wood walls, is to start a fire and then quickly extinguish it. A burnt wall can be crawled through. 👍🏻 Lots of risk, but doesn't need the sledge.

Probably best locations for ammo around Rosewood. Police station(4, 4, 5), prison(5, 1, 4). Also there's(5,5,5) military shop at the east of the map(find military base on map and draw line to west of it until you hit small town)

Use shotguns and shotguns only until you level up your skill a little bit. Any other gun is ridiculously unusable. After one or two skill point upgrades start using pistols but only at close range. Make sure your character isn’t walking backwards either because the aim is significantly better when you are standing still. Probably best to use it on small groups. Stand still let them get close have your gun aimed at their head and pull the trigger. Risky but these are the best ways to level it up. At skill 1-2 you can already use rifles it will just use up a lot of ammo at first but the more you shoot them the more accurate your character gets. I’ve found your accuracy slowly goes up even if the full skill point isn’t unlocked. At the point where you hit aiming 2 though you start being able to hit consistent shots, especially if you are standing still, so if you are dealing with lots of zombies make sure to train them all in a group and then run off stand still and then light them up. Reload as you are training them back into a good shooting spot and you are good. Also as a side note, at early points in the game, hit a bar as soon as you can get bourbon and make lots and lots of moltovs. They are your best friend. If you need to clear a larger group to get inside somewhere run around screaming or drive around honking until you get the bulk of them following you. Throw the moltov to torch Em up and then keep moving for 1.5-2 in game hours. Go around grabbing the stragglers and train them into the main group and bam. Area cleared with minimal risk. Just be careful to not train them into whatever building you are trying to loot because I had a world where I ended up burning down a police station I was trying to loot and it was really annoying. Also this may all be things you know I’m just leaving this comment for anyone looking through this thread for solutions on how to upgrade their gun skills.

use shotguns to level aim! they have much higher base aim (the shawed off has max aim even if you're lvl 0 aim) do a lot of damage and hit multiple enemies after you get to level 3-4 most guns become usable you just need to make sure you don't get surrounded and have enough ammo to kill all the zombies that will come for you oh, and make sure your character is in good condition when fighting, injuries to the arms, panic, being tired and all the negative moodles have all kinds of negative effects that make combat more dangerous lastly, have a getaway plan in case things unexpectedly go south, maybe park a car a somewhere close to where you will fight (but not too close, you don't want zombies to get to your car before it's time for you to leave) you can also check out the project zomboid wiki page for gun stats to see details!

Safest early game source are Riverside and Muldraugh PDs, both have only ONE security door to bypass (either by getting a key from a zombie or just smash) and are also located fairly ISOLATED in their respetive Towns, meaning that if zed spread is good, you can just sneak in and get the goods quick..... For the riskier side, Military Surplus is indeed the better place, even more if you want some of the RAREST brita's pack mod weapons, the Minigun HMGs (M134 and the .50 cal GAU gatling) as it seems their spawn rates are also there (also seem to be better by a small margin). LV has 2 PDs, 3 Gun stores and One Army surplus, be wary though as MOST of those good gun loot places are located in HELLISH PLACES to reach without having firearms already (One gun store is IN THE MALL, and zeds usually are FILLING the place if someone didn't sweep that area already; LV main PD is also full of zeds, however cop zeds are also there, so enjoy the firearms looted from dead men)

Great vid! I never played multiplayer yet proper since the servers all seem to be setup either with wacky settings or so far gone everything is lootet, so cant say what I found be any good... I currently started a solo play starting in Louisville, I setup base in Car show room, just west of the north eastern shopping mall, it's central and the zombies arnt too many in this spot, now just northwest there is a police station and a empty shopping mall, that police station around the back, jump the metal fence, smash window, go upstairs, lots of ammo and loot, and no need for sledge, one does have to fight for it though, but u can chip away at the zombies, retreating if too many and come back next day

@@gros_lemming8439 I just find walling off the west side makes it so you have less windows to board up and worry about, a lot less extra space to defend, and allows for a nice buffer between the living space and the road on the west side Zombies can get into the west wing all they like and I'm not in any danger. I just use all the wood from the office furniture to build the wall, and have lots to spare. I even built myself a nice home gym in the spare bedroom across from the locker room with the gear in the west wing gym. To board those windows up alone would account for almost as much wood as building the wall

Can’t you just use a Molotov to get into the gun store in West Point ? Pretty sure I’ve seen private Lime just light it on fire in the corner to get in.

Me and my friends on my server found enough guns in a random kitchen cabinet to fill up 2 mail vans. It was absolutely insane.

Maybe that's because it's the best place for weapons :) Besides, the firing range/hunting lodge, west point gun store and refugee are all outside of LV.

I mean, not really. Most police stations in Zomboid spare for LV have one or two gun cabinets. Police officer zombies only carry pistols or shotguns.
