Haven't owned a squier myself but my neighbor who plays like a one-man band thing he does church music he does country and western rock and roll and he swears by them I went out and bought a American Stratocaster and had him come and check it out and he loved the feel of it so much he handed it right back to me he says no I'm not playing this any longer I will end up buying one and I don't want to do that I'm happy with my squires and I do not do gigs or anything like that actually I'm just learning but I probably should have started out with a squire instead of going all out on American fender but I couldn't help and I always loved them and wanted one so I jumped in feet first but I loved it so I know there's a lot of people will buy the fender squier over the real deal and they may do some updates on them same thing is going on with Gibson a lot of them are going to Gibson Epiphone because they can put a little money in the in a Epiphone and have a good quality guitar without spending the money for the real deal and if you notice the prices between fender and Gibson the Epiphone the price has doubled on them because they're quality is way better than what it used to be and the fender squier is heading in that direction so if you want any one of these two brands you might want to get them now because I'm sure the prices are going to go up because they're getting that much better 🤘🏻

I went to GC and tried the 40th Anniversary Tele. The guitar was excellent (YYMV on the worn finish and neck lacquer), but the pickups were muddy and weak as hell. Good deal for $300 if you’re willing to spend on pickup replacements. However, I ended up trying a Squier Sonic Strat HSS and it was a really nice guitar. I didn’t care for the single coils, too muddy, but the humbucker was pretty great. I ended up getting the Sonic Strat with the single humbucker and the hardtail bridge for $200.

The neck pickup on the Squier CV 50s is dull as hell . I contacted Fender -did a demo -response was “ What do expect for an inexpensive Squier ! “ Cheers . Didn’t buy it to mod , bought it to play .

I own the green Squire Telecaster 40 th anniversary and I love it. For my 2nd cheapest guitar (about $500 US dollars) I love it as much as my Gretsch 1959 reissue 6120 and my Höfner Thin President.

I have the sonic blue Strat; so far I put a Seymour Duncan Strat rail in the bridge position, and put 5 fender vintage springs in the back. Definite improvement!

I am tempted to put tone rider city limit pickups in mine after seeing Dave Simpson review them. Even though as you say there is nothing wrong with the stock pickups. Would love to see you guys put a set of them in and hear your opinion.

Tried these at Klangfarbe Vienna and I'd have to disagree with you guys this time, these are not that good and a downgrade from the previous MiC CV line... I have the MiC vintage blonde tele (2009) which is at least on par if not better than the MiM player tele. The next upgrade/comparable model would be the former Baja Tele now Vintera line, however at almost 3x the price it doesn't justify it...I'd say the MiC CV line was killing the MiM products and that's why Fender move the CV production to Indonesia and did a slight downgrade (pickups and body wood, arguably saddles and tuners as well) I would recommend to people to save a bit money and go for the Sire S7/T7 line which is fantastic... I have an S7 hss and and it is better than any MiM strat I've tried...

I absolutely love my 40th Anniversary Tele. I upgraded to Kluson Supreme tuners, a modern six saddle bridge, and Tone Hatch A3 pickups with the 4-way switch mod. Plus I upgraded pots and new polished nickel hardware, and it is a joy to play and looks brilliant. (Mocha finish.) Also, before anyone says - yeah, but the average person can't do that... I'm not a luthier, in fact I never worked on a guitar prior to this one. You can learn basically everything you need to know from watching KZbin videos. From how to install tuners (easy), polishing frets (easy), to how to upgrade pickups and even use a soldering iron. (And if that scares, you, just get a solderless pots kit from Obsidian Wire.) About the hardest thing was getting intonation and string height correct, but once you know how, it is more of a time thing than an actual difficult chore.

Thanks for the info! I own a 40th green tele and it’s awesome but I thought about modifying it but was nervous. I’m also a collector so my other guitars are too expensive (for me anyway) to start working on myself or changing. Not that the Squire Tele was cheap ( about $500 I believe) buts it’s not a collector item. It’s funny because I always dreamt of owning a Strat-ever since 1984 as a high school freshman but I never bought one and when I looked at Squires a couple years ago I opted for the tele. @@SirLeDoux Awesome! I love that color green on the 40th Tele. Once things to remember - you'll never get back the money you put into modding a Squier if you ever go to sell it. So any mods you make are solely for yourself. Which in a way makes it really liberating. 😀 Honestly, most guitar mods are really easy. You just have to research your parts to make sure they fit first (important!!!!) and be able to work a screwdriver. And while that Obsidian Wire drop in panel replacement isn't cheap, it makes swapping in and out pickups easy. Good luck and have fun!!

I put brass saddles and a Monty's DP51 set in my gold 40th Tele. Neck pickup is a bit strat like (not dark) and the bridge is great too. These guitars got great necks and with a little love (mods+setup) they can be as good as any Fender.
