I have a sage it’s not just for beginners. It’s sort of my beater bow for all sorts of stuff. When I don’t want to take a custom bow. It will do anything my custom bows can do. I think it’s great for a starter bow also.

Good stuff there Chris! And these other fellas brought up some good points as well. No need breaking the bank if you're just starting out in the single string world. And I'm looking forward to seeing those six items complete their transferring!!!

I'm loving the discussion that this video is generating, hopefully guys and gals just getting started find some value in all of this. The 6 items were done, it was the other 700+ that were taking forever. Still hasn't finished. The process was interrupted. I'll try again tomorrow.

samick are GREAT BOWS it bothers me when people say great starter bows I been hunting with trad bows for 15 years and i hunt with a 60 lb samick sage they are great bows period!!!!

Allan Wagner that’s a fair statement. I only said starter bow to earn clicks from people transitioning into traditional archery. I’ve been bowhunting with a stickbow for 12 seasons and I too have used a samick for most of that time. I’ve owned the deer master the longest and I own a red stag take down that is a gorgeous bow.

I had many problems with these bows. I have several big-name bows but thought I would get one out of curiosity. Well, I wound up going through 5 bows to end up with 2. A 30 pound and a 45 pound. They are of Walmart style cheapness, that is where they should be sold, but they shoot well enough if you know how to set it up. Makes a good truck bow or loaner bow for a buddy to hunt with. Check when you get one to make sure the limbs are straight!

This bow is perfect for the fella wanting to dip their toes in the water without dropping hundreds of dollars on a super quality bow. This bow does feel cheaper mainly because it is. However I have a red stag takedown that is actually really nice as far as build quality. So don't discount the brand entirely.

I have been thinking about getting one in 30 or 35 just to work on form. Wish I had thought about that more when I bought my longbow but hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

Bill Thomas I’m guessing your longbow is in a heavier weight?

The Samick Sage is the equivalent of the AK-47. Its cost is very low, it is robust, reliable, good quality, the holes for the accessories are already present and assemble easily without any allen key on the field. In addition, virtually all stores sell it, as well as replacement limbs (from 25 to 60#). Advice also for the survivalists: it is probably a better Bow than the SAS or the Atmos, in my humble opinion.

Sébastien Raymond could not agree more. In my opinion it would only be better if it were IFL. But some other samick limbs fit the riser.

The black hunter recurve or reflex deflex longbow is not only better but less expensive as well. A limbs are sold separately as well. Nothing wrong with the sage though just not quite as good .

With the recent increase in popularity in the black hunter I'd tend to agree. When I originally made this video it wasn't really well known. I suggest the sage because of the vast availability of used limbs in the market place.

I’m showing availability across the whole weight range. Ignore the left handed nonsense. The bow in the video I’m holding was marked left handed too, I think amazon means it’s held in the left hand. The images show a right handed bow.

Fred Bear Grizzly is the best starter bow money can buy. I'm sorry it is far superior to a Samick Sage. Available in poundage has all the way down to 35 all the way up to 60. Cost you three hundred bucks and you can get them used on eBay for far less! Very smooth very powerful very forgiving and very quiet. Fred bear all u'll ever need

Steve Jenkins obviously like I said in the video I was shooting a grizzly from the 70s all season and love it. I think the ability to increase poundage is a huge bit of importance for someone just starting out
