As I've realized, a game's rating isn't a guarantee it will apply to your own impression of it. I've played plenty of mostly and overwhelmingly positive rated games that were utter crap. So, I don't rely as much on them as I used to.

The problem with people doing overwhelmingly positive is that it tends to be very neich games and when games get popular people that don’t really like the game try it out and because it never was going to be a game they like they dislike it. There is also the people that review bomb so games like Elden Ring even though it is game of the year will never get overwhelming positive
