Thanks to you I’m DEFINITELY getting the Question omnibus of which there will soon be a Volume Two you’re the first KZbinr to ever mention it I first subscribed to your channel about three weeks ago since then you KNOW YOUR CRAFT and hobby small world we all ❤️ Omar honestly he is a walking X-Men encyclopedia it’s inspiring and ungodly all at once . 💯😂

The Question omnibus vol 2 is my most anticipated book of the year! Those stories absolutely stand the test of time and Denys Cowan's art is a perfect moody and noir fit to bring Hub City to life. I've met Denys a few times and the man is a national treasure. That said, no one knows comics like Omar, that man is a treasure trove of information

Bought Space Age you’re right it was almost as philosophical as The Vision by Tom King and that’s about as good as it gets !! Once you lock down a Superman story with the right talent it’s a standalone in and of itself can’t be competed with . BTW I want to thank you for the Ice Cream man referral totally completely blew me away nihilist and existentially perfect in every way . Bought both hardcovers volume one and two and now I’m in limbo until the next hardcover collection. I just didn’t see that one coming and assumed it couldn’t possibly be on the level but indeed it is !!!!!!

Wonder Woman Dead Earth ? SOLD! I never even bought a Wonder Woman title and that’s saying something because Omar’s classic deconstruction of George Perez’s run is the best ever . 💯😂

I've only read the beginning of Pérez's Wonder Woman run that's covered in the Absolute but that's a great mix of character and mythology, all with George's beautiful and super detailed art. It's great for sure, but Dead Earth is such a tight story that it takes the cake for me

So just your preview of the Dead Earth story and the artwork and humanities only savior brings back to my mind one of the greatest animated characters in cinematic history- Tarna - the “extinct “ Dracian warrior from 1981s landmark Heavy Metal film. Simply blew my socks off I have real difficulty watching it such dark cruelty and the film musical score from that last story ? Well thanks for showing Dead Earth if you don’t mind I’ll confuse Diana with Taarna the Last Dracian warrior and savior of goodness and light vanquishing evil and darkness !

Man, Heavy Metal, that takes me back to watching it after my buddy lent it me. Never had seen anything like that before. I think Daniel Warren Johnson would be flattered for the connection

I haven’t read any of these but you sold me on them. As far as my favorite stories in the trinity. (I haven’t read a lot of their stories mind you): Superman: For the Man Who Has Everything, Batman A Long Halloween, and as far as Wonder Woman… I’ve only read the New 52 run. Which I enjoyed but I know a lot have mixed feelings on that run.

Alright, confession time. I've never read For The Man Who Has Everything. I know, I know. I need to, I will. Love Long Halloween, perfect match between Loeb's storytelling and Sale's evocative pencils. I've got the Noir edition of Long Halloween, love the way that books looks in black and white. And I'm a huge Cliff Chiang fan, so I'm very pro New 52 Wonder Woman. I've got the Absolute, that story deserves it

Your list, your rules! Not a cop out! Dead Earth is one I need to read for sure! Secret Identity is great! I feel like my answers for Batman would change frequently because I do love a great many of them. The ones I find myself revisiting the most are honestly Court of Owls & Zero Year, but this may be a cop out, I will often just open my copies just to look at the Capullo goodness! As for Superman, I have to go Death of Superman, but that really is only the prologue to the actual story that plays out through Funeral For A Friend, Reign of the Supermen & finally The Return of Superman. It’s all one big story, so yeah…that whole epic is my favorite Superman story. As for WW, I really don’t have one. I’ll have to circle back after reading Dead Earth!

If there was one of these that I'd be willing to put money on, it's that you would say Death of Superman as your favorite Superman story. No idea how I figured that. When it comes to Snyder's Batman stories, my favorite was the Black Mirror stuff he did on Detective with Jock before the New 52 reboot. Prefer Capullo's art to Jock's but just love the atmospheric storytelling the pair pull off. That auction scene from the beginning is downright chilling. On Wondy, after Dead Earth I'd probably look at the Perez run and the Azzarello/Chiang run from New 52. both have outstanding art that really should be read in Absolute.

Speaking of noir you so perfectly stated you will never consider the colorized version of Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell’s From Hell- ME NEITHER!!! It took Campbell ten years to complete that work many trials tribulations and artists struggles check out the Alec Drawn and Quarterly thick omnibus-ish edition it’s all that scratchy moody art that only the hand of Campbell can pull off . Reading that in color is like trying to watch to original 1933 King Kong with Fay Ray I don’t care it’s one of the greatest films ever made the Max Steiner film score and the deadly romance of those biplanes and twin Lewis machine guns honestly I could have seen it on Fathom Ticket events digital restoration four years ago but I didn’t want to see Kong die the pure emotion and expressiveness in his eyes even Industrial Light and Magic can’t come close to that “it was beauty that killed the beast “. 😢😢

Well I’ll have to fast forward I’m getting Secret Identity for sure and I am thrilled you didn’t choose Morrison’s Superman For All Seasons as I know you hate his work . 😂
@bunkmastab
@bunkmastab 9 ай бұрын
I don't hate Morrison, I'm a hater! There is a difference, I have a lot of respect for them, just never clicked with me. That said, I think Morrison's All-Star Superman is Super overrated. Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber's Who Killed Jimmy Olsen is a better celebration of Silver Age wackiness while modernizing it. It's a hot take and I'm standing by it!

Have to say I haven't read any of those books. For me favorite batman story I would say is Court of Owls, for Superman um Unchained (jim lee art has me) and for wonder woman... I have read any wonder woman yet but I have the gail simones on the docet to read.

Court of Owls is a classic, but when it comes to Snyder Batman I think I like Black Mirror a little more. That auction scene from the beginning of the book is so atmospheric. On Unchained, I only read about 3 issues or so when it was first coming out but I really enjoyed what I read, probably need to go back and finish it

@@bunkmastab the reason I enjoyed court of owls is because everyone thinks batman is gotham and that story took that statement and flipped it on its head

@@afifthofjackgaming Definitely. It does that Batman doesn't know everything he thinks he does and has to learn to overcome his hubris. I will say that the Night of Owls event was pretty terrible for the most part though

3:10- street level Batman taking on classic crime . OF COURSE!!!! He’s not the Worlds Greatest Detective for nothing and later in the DC universe there’s the Injustice superb run that reveals Bruce Wayne / Batman is just as smart as the Last Kryptonian Superman. That says it all I’m starved for more Krypton story runs and that ungodly blend of futuristic seamless technology the best Superman film ever was the 2012 one I saw it like at least five times General Zodd role was perfection itself the glimpse of that destroyed world IMHO will never be better and of course The Fortress of Solitude reminds us Superman is an extraterrestrial if ONLY he were real I would sleep better at night the world would be a much less existentially terrifying and weary planet all alone with the sole carbon based supernova stardust life forms in the Milky Way and all the other galaxies in the observable perhaps Infinite Universe we”ll never know Einstein proved it with his General Relativity and 186k miles per second speed of light the vast distances and high energy levels and cosmic rays that cause cancer we will never know We Are Alone In the Universe - see Fermi’s Paradox from Enrico Fermi the main architect of the doomsday atomic bomb and heir apparent to Robert Oppenheimer.

Was the 2012 Superman film Man of Steel? I really liked that one. First time I saw it was in the theater, my friends and I got there late so we were in the first row in the days before Stadium seating. Spent the whole film with my head at a very awkward angle but it was worth it. Have you read Superman Space Age yet? I loved the Kal-El/Jor-El relationship in that one
