Thanks! Swell is filling in right now. Should be pumping in the AM 🎉

Any chance you could post a video of a few different swell scenarios from Surfline and explain how to read those? The chart you have up here is pretty different to what I was looking at today. I think today had 4 different swells and I imagine that correlated to the sloppy conditions I saw today, but I can't figure out how to read different swell graphs on Surfline. Thanks for this video!

I've always said that the best wind for the outer reefs was light onshore. I believe it's not just the speed of the wave but the size. As a big wave moves it compresses the air column and the air accelerates up the face. Like the wind over the top of an airplane's wing.
@strikemissions4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. A light onshore isn’t bad at all. The swells are moving at 25kts, so they make their own wind up the face.

Better bring your gun. Lol I've never been that side. How often does it get big?

The East Coast is way harder to forecast than Hawaii with the short windows and how close the hurricanes come. Gotta go deep geek mode to figure those out 🤓
@ReelCoolAdventures4 жыл бұрын
@@alikajohnson9250 we actually get some decent days every once in a while, by our standards. Some double overhead days in the winter and with hurricanes. Some fun wind chop most of the year and flat all summer. Our forecasting is mostly looking outside to see the trees blowing. 🥴👍

Was thinking of taking my son to watch tomorrow. I'm guessing pipe is not going to handle? So would waimea be the call? I really enjoy this kind of "behind the scenes" info 🤙🏽
@strikemissions4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it will be way too big for Pipe and Waimea will be doing it’s thing. Have fun and be safe 🤙🏼

Caldwell is retiring at the end of the year which is sad because as long as his report was updated there was no real need to check anywhere else.
