This game is actually really enjoyable, I’ve played this one for countless hours, over multiple servers, the pve is fun, pvp is a whole different type of fun, the game has a lot of adventure, and definitely a ton of challenges that you will face.

I like points of reference to be added as you playthrough survival games. I liked that subnauctica life pods provided points of reference. However I wish the important story areas had more info to find them easier. I know Far Cry isnt really survival but the map opening new areas as you complete sections is good.

Games with craftable maps where you can only see the areas you have explored are my favorite kind of maps because that way it’s not to easy but it’s easier to get back to places you have already been

Honestly for maps in survival games I like the minecraft format best where you have to essentially map it out yourself as you go, but the subnautica compass and marker method is also just as good but slightly less immersive

I remember playing this game with friends. I couldn't get enough building fortresses that lead into caves. I made it basically impenetrable to the point that it wouldn't be worth it for a whole team dedicated to making bombs 24-7 to try and raid me. I also made like 30 small crenulated towers with 30 named archers that you'd have to go through just to be able to set 1 bomb near the foundation. I'd be offline then come back the next day with a few dead players in my yard, and sometimes their bag would still be there filled with bombs lol.

There are several difficulty settings for the game, Civilised = don't drop gear on death, the higher the difficulty the more the mobs do damage to you and less you damage the mobs, and you drop gear on death, meaning a corpse run and no shortcuts to next boss. You can also do custom settings where you can modify many things and are not relying to the presets. You can play on the Official servers hosted by Funcom, or un-official servers hosted by other players, and Solo (with Co-Op or without).

It must be nice being able to stab the tail of a giant alligator without worrying about it doing a 180° spin, grab you, and deathroll. Ark is unforgiving and I love it

I went ahead and bought Conan Exiles after watching this. It really is such a fun and addictive game. I died so many times to that huge crocodile in the early game. Lobos makes it look alot easier than it is. The only way I was able to kill it early on was with a wooden shield and cutlass.
