i actually was in the military and calling out enemies is done in a different order. first: direction second: distance third: description forth: additional information there is a good reason for that. the most important info comes first. DIRECTION. for example: 11 o'clock, 200 m, 3 enemy infantry, infront of the big farm, moving noth-south. starting with the distance is wasting time. if you are told the enemy is 300 meters away you still have absolutely no idea where they are. then you are told the direction. you then look in this direction and have to again find the right distance anyway. direction is the single most important information there is because it determines the angle they have on you. only knowing what direction the enemy is enables you to get behind useful cover. just imagine someone saying "10 meters". what are you supposted to do? spin around 360° scanning the area for enemies? but if you say "left!" everybody can immediately turn towards the enemy and defend themselves. this can actually make the difference. i have seen videos from afghanistan where a german platoon was ambushed. the one thing they all screamed to each other was "where is the fire coming from?" and "where is the enemy?" distance is important but difinetely secundary. if you know the direction you can seek cover. if you don't know the direction you can not and get killed. funny thing is immediately after you showed how to call out enemies, in the game you did it the correct way anyway :D it's just natural to always give the direction first.

These are my call outs in PS, Squad, and Tarkov. No military experience but they seem to help. I prioritize information based on immediate actionability. Splat! *dies* Hopefully my boys observed on are now on alert. Once they get to relative safety. They can assess my angles of exposure while looking and listening for anything that might dial them in. Contact! *dies* Might not seem like much of an improvement but the sooner your squad can respond to a threat, the better their chances. Contact! Ten o’clock! *dies* Exponential improvement. They know know which side of the tree helps them the most, and the potential locations of the threat has been narrowed to a manageable range. Contact! Northwest. 200m. *dies* This is good info. Your guys can figure out the rest quickly and respond rather than react. Contact! Northwest. 200m. Inbound. *dies* Oh shit. Not only did they touch your buddy, but it’s a possible assault on your position. Response might change depending on their vector. Are they mounting an assault? Are they rotating to flank? Contact! Northwest. 200m. Inbound. Three soft targets. *dies* You get the picture.

Thats interesting Thomas.... I was an aircrew member and any call outs started with what your looking for, then a direction then distance. "I got a C-130 at 10'o clock, 1/2 mile... low... heading towards us... he's no factor".

The best piece of advice I got starting out doing arma section leads is it's better to make a decision than not at all. I'm not sure how well this translates into real life where death is a thing, but atleast in video games as long as your squad is doing something, even if you completely mess up and end up throwing the game you'll probably all still have had fun. An easy trap to fall into is worrying that you're not good enough and you don't know any tactics, but really the most important job of the section lead is getting your team to work together and being the decision making part of the squad.

Honestly i think compass call outs are far better then "o'clock" as not everyone is facing same direction and if i have to look at you on mini map to also see the direction that takes more time then for me to Y and read the compass. "Contact South East" is what i use.
@ControlledPairsGaming
@ControlledPairsGaming 4 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Clock position really only works over proximity voice to those right around you, and I would only recommend if you're in direct contact. I can return fire and say 12 o'clock at the same time, but I can't open my mini map.

One year later.. SL is probably the most disliked role. You can have nearly the entire team, waiting for someone to say "alright I'll do it" or one creating a squad to then immediately bail, to then jump quickly in and pick favourite role. It's rare to see people choosing the SL spot.. and medic for that matter. Rule number 2. Communicate. A major contribution to a loss, is the total lack of communication and marking the map for team support.. Every now and then, you do get in a great battle, where the momentum shifts. It is a great game

@@ControlledPairsGaming yeah regarding SL.. but even tho I work 9-10 hrs a day in a 5 day week, I still put in around 4-5 hours playtime.. that's how good fun it is. I don't mind being Leader, but sometimes it's a blast just running around killing tanks or fucking with the enemy logi.. There's so much more to this game, once you get a hang of it

That means a lot, man Thank you! To be honest, my excuse is I'm a busy man! Married, kids, work and all the rest. I'm proud that I'm able to get one video out a week, though! To your point, I've recently been considering throwing a Discord together to play with subscribers. I've considered using it as a platform to give away keys to my favorite games as well, as a means of helping them grow a d building a community. Even if I wasn't always around on the server, at least like minded folks could hang out and find games. Really appreciate you stopping by!

@@ControlledPairsGaming In war there are no excuses :D Regarding Discord it is surprising easy to set up and monitor. Mine has seperation for subscribers and youtubers so if I am hosting a youtubers only event can just have youtubers chatting. I think it is a must for every gaming youtuber, great way to directly contact your fans and can post links to your videos so if youtube does a youtube at least you know people get a heads up. Let me know if you need anything, always happy to help. Just installed the game so hopefully see you on the field.
