Cool Video !!! I see that the Evgeny Sveridonov & Angelina Barkova couple dance Mirko & Alessia tango rutine. Well execute 🙌👊
Some say that Tango originally stayed in the Latin dance category but later it came into Ballroom area...but anyway Tango is now enjoying its particular position in the Std. Dance...I mean the Continental Tango....!

You are right, but in this video I featured only couples dancing in the WDSF Adult Category! But don't worry, in the future I'll do a video where you will see Zharkov and Bosco ;)

Great tangos! I was wondering if you could make a similar video but commenting what you personally like (or not) about each of the performances? I dance socially, but when watching high level dancers I often find it difficult to tell the good from the outstanding ones, and I'd like to learn to appreciate it more.

That's a good idea!! Thank you for sharing your thoughts! 😉

I have to admit my reaction to the initial intro was, "why are they showing only the bad tangos?" Then he said he'd limited the video to WDSF, so that explains it. Specific things I dislike: too much body flight (there should be none), too much rise and fall (there should be none), frames excessively wide rather than compact, weird left elbow drop in link - see the bouncy elbows on #10 at 1:54 for an extreme example in both elbows, or #8 at 2:06 for a more conventional example. No crisp, staccato link actions because if you try them with the wide frame, you either end up bouncing elbows or giving the lady whiplash.

@@psychohist thank you for your analysis, this is very valuable for me to understand the finer aspects of the dances. could you recommend any videos where it's done right, and possibly an explanation of what to watch for?

@@FrancisCrik Here is a good one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4HKgWidlsehgtU Some specific things to look for: staccato movement rather than body flight - it looks like any of the couples could stop on any step; compact frame with the man's right hand going around the lady's back to cross her spine below the shoulder blade rather than staying high on just her left shoulder blade; crisp, staccato lines such as from #172 at 1:19 and in the link at 1:22 with no vertical bounce down in the elbows. I had to go back this far because the shift to the in my opinion inferior wider frame happened around 2005.

It is all a-bit to dramatic for my liking …years ago the Tango was a sexy dance not a leg twiddling run …sad really….but then the world has changed so much hasn’t it and not for the better.
@grahammckellar408 Жыл бұрын
I believe you are correct, it seems to me that gymnastics and overdancing has taken the place of technique. So many couples today dance in exactly the same way it is difficult to tell them apart, no-one is an individual anymore.
