The best tasting fish are the ones that you cook right away after catching them. I was taught that by my father who I unfortunately lost in February of 2018. I will never forget all of the times that we fished together. Keep up your great work that you do on your videos. Keep on fishing.

Your father was absolutely right. Trout cooked next to the stream needs NOTHING and it's delicious. Fry it in bacon grease and it's even better. Some fish I only eat if it is right away, like Bluefish.

I would catch these all night off a concrete pier in Cleveland on Lake Erie. Some guys would save them and I would give mine to them. I caught one once that was as long as my leg. I had my finger through the gill and the tail was slapping my boot. I asked these guys if they wanted it and they were more than happy to take it. We always called them Sheephead or Sheepshead. I thought them to be like Carp.

I grew up calling drum "sheephead". Whenever we caught some, we'd give them to my Dad's friend who would cut them up into bite-sized chunks and pickle them with onions (and later mushrooms, my suggestion ;) ). He called them "tasty treats". You could eat 'em out of the jar or on a cracker. Best fresh because the pieces would be nice and firm. Pretty dang tasty, indeed. (Also, your videos are great. They are my preferred lunch time viewing. Keep filming and sharing!)

Hey River Certified. If you want to eliminate those chewy ones, try placing them on ice as soon as you catch them. I've been doing this for years and it's rare as heck for me to run into one with a chewy texture. I think that placing them on a stringer or in a live basket stresses them out and the stress somehow affects the texture of their flesh.

I remember catching Gasper Goo in the spillway in the 60s. My dad hated them. He was focused on bass only. Enjoyed this video.

I eat a lot of catfish usually Channel Cats but also Blue cats. One thing I have learned is too bleed them out before I leave the River. This makes to meat so much sweeter.
