This video is good advice, however just for correctness sake I want to mention that getting out of tumble doesn't require three to six inputs, as you suggest - it only takes one input as long as that input is after tumble starts. Wiggling is good practice though since it's not always clear when tumble begins (unless you happen to play with rumble on).

Falco and fox can also press b to laser land out of tumble, giving just 4 frames of lag and can lead to surprise turn arounds if you're close to the ground. You can option select tech at the same time and u won't be messing with the stick like with wiggle out. Wiggle out has more options available tho since u can't wall jump and Waveland and aerial doing the laser land

Also to answer the question as to why didn't Zane tech or wiggle out there. It is (almost certainly) because Zane thought Mango was going to hit him (which he could have) before Zane hit the platform. But Mango was waiting for Zane to double jump out of the combo, which would be using essentially his last resource, and then Mango would punish from there. But since Mango waited, and Zane didn't give mango his double jump, Zane just lands on the platform. lol

Wiggle out airdodge is also the only way some characters can get out of falcon dthrow knee because jump would otherwise not be fast enough

one other good tip is learning the animation that signals when you can wiggle out. Once your model starts to rotate you (or your opponent) can wiggle out

This is why so many people have a really bad double jump habit. New players know instinctively that they have to get out of tumble but its not obvious at all that there's a way to do it without jumping.

i rtc off down throw a lot as ranno and i remember a lox or two that would escape tumble sometimes (only at certain percents with a certain di obviously), always threw me off and i didn't really understand what was happening. I know this is useful cuz ive eaten whole combos by being surprised by it haha

I didn't make this clear in the video, but it only takes one input to break out of tumble in both games. The reason one would mash is to get that input ASAP when hit stun ends and tumble begins. Since its hard to know precisely when that moment is, mashing slightly early will help with consistency. If there's no rush you can just wait until you're sure then smash the stick once.

I would like a whole montage combo video of more silly wiggle out moments. I had a fox nair out of tumble when he was maybe 20/30 ish % after I sent him away with a move to boo me. Never seen someone do it that low. You excluded to mention this but just inputting an attacking move or even something like neutral b is another safe way to leave the tumble state and not have to tech closer to the ground.

Yes, the lock out window is called hit stun. After that only one input is required to wiggle out. Check the pinned comment for more information.

Is this tech in Project +? I main Wario and tend to lean towards characters that play like Wario with the "high air drift and heavy weight" combination of traits like Ren and Stimpy in Nick Brawl. Usually, I would just throw out an attack to get out of tumble like FAir and since my air drift is usually really good, I can land safely anyway but now that I know about this, I may as well practice taking advantage of it instead of wasting the frames throwing out a move.
