Great to see Creatures featured 👍🏻 but no First Samurai? And I’d consider Turrican 1 and 2 to be platformers as well 🤷🏻‍♂️

First Samurai is a brilliant shout to be fair, I do enjoy that game but it’s not one I played a great deal as a kid, definitely one I need to play more though! Turrican 1&2, probably both in my top ten c64 games ever made but I feel they’re more of a run and gun with platformer elements in it, I want to do run and gun video and I’m sure they will feature heavily as they’re just awesome!

@@Retro_B8 I think if Turrican is run-and-gun and not considered to be a platformer, then you'd have to consider Ghosts & Goblins and Creatures to also be run and gun games as well. Either way, all great games in this list. I think I would have picked the C64 version of Ghouls & Ghosts over Ghost & Goblins (the Amiga version however, not that great). I played a ton of Creatures back in the day, loved that game.

Hmmm, the Giana Sisters I had didn't look like this. The owls were different, the fish were different, the title screen was different. And some of the levels in the gameplay didn't look familiar. I wonder what's up with that.

​@@Retro_B8 I've actually hardly played any of those, aside from Impossible Mission, which I struggled with. I like the look of Exile, it has atmosphere. And I love the typical C64 aesthetics of Ghosts 'n Goblins!

So hard to make a list of only 10, for me turrican 2 should have been in for sure, im not actually a fan of mayhem in monster land its all looks and no substance in the gameplay. Exile was a weird choice but nostalgia always plays a massive part in these lists....one thing we can agree on is Sams Journey at number one...not only the best c64 platform game ever made but the best c64 game ever made by a clear mile.

Hey Paul, ten is tough, this could’ve easily been a top 20 haha! Yeah I left the turricans out as to me they feel more almost run and gun, with a shed load of platforming, Mayhem in monsterland is a pretty simple game but that’s perfect for me haha! Exile is another I struggle to classify into a genre, but it’s a game I really love and thought this is maybe my only chance to give it a mention! Sam’s journey, ah, I adore it. To me the pinnacle of how far the mighty C64 can be pushed, when people tell me how poor the old girl is I point them in sam’s direction and if they still think the c64 is rubbish well, it says more about them and their lack of understanding of that era of gaming/hardware!

Almost no surprises........except Exile. Going to have to look that one up. Rainbow Islands and Myth were my big favourites. Still to grab Sam's Journey, must get round to it !

Please have a go of exile, I wasn’t sure if it could be classed as a platformer but what else can I list it lol! Sam’s journey is a must, I’d say it’s my favourite game on the C64!!

Yeah that’s a fair point tbh, I’m just always a bit wary of putting it in due to needing the REU, it’s a superb game though, probably top ten of the games ever made for the c64!

It's so tough to pick just 10! I have more nostalgia for older platform games, like Jumpman, Lode Runner, and Ultimate Wizard. I love Bruce Lee, although the platforming part of it is unremarkable. Other than Impossible Mission, my favorite platformer is a bit obscure - at least outside the USA. Toy Bizarre is a moody spooky single screen platformer similar to Mario Bros or Joust. Speaking of moody and spooky, there's Mastertronic's Chiller. I'm not sure anyone would think of putting it among a top 10 list, but the mechanic of slowing down more and more as you lose life really put an interesting horror edge to the feel.

It really is mate!! Lode runner-excellent, Ultimate wizard and the original were on the verge of inclusion but again I had to go with the heart, Bruce Lee was close as well tbh! Ah I loved chiller, I’ve even got both versions on tape, the one with the MJ song and the one without. Great memories of that as a kid!

Hard to pick just 10 but I pretty much agree with most of these. Would have definitely included Monty on the run and Dynamite Dan though. I think I would have left out Ghosts and goblins because I see that as more of a run and gun than a platformer. Also i would have left about Exile too as I don’t really see this as a platform game either.
