That’s a great idea. I was only making a comment on another video about this exact idea a few week back. This is exactly what you need on both bailers and combines. With a big enough tank and Colin to working out flow rates etc for pipe/nozzle sizes etc. I’d patient that concept and look at retrofit kits you could sell(if they accepted it).

Watching from Maine USA. I think you’ll need to put cables valves on the different tubes to concentrate air or limit it at times. Also I’d imagine smaller holes with every other one offset slightly for more coverage. I have an air cleaner/radiator blower wand and the holes are mere pin pricks but the air coming out is impressive

Some of the big bakers have similar to keep the Knotters clean but this would be a big step up from that. I think one big tank and several air driven valves blowing different areas would be the way to go. Shame you had blown down the baler before the trial. Like the look of that plasma cutter guide

Brilliant idea, but keep it simple. A blast of air every 20-30 minutes will make a big difference to the debris build-up while baling. But the last thing you want is a blast of air while your working on the baler! Greetings from NZ!

I guess you want to make a Venturi device at the end utilizing the Bernoulli principle where you have a larger diameter pipe at the end with an air gap all around and when you release the air it will rush passed the opening sucking in more air multiplying the effect. It's used to inflate aircraft fire escapes in seconds and bigger those bead seaters tire infiltrators also use them.

Love your channel and what a fantastic idea to clean out your mobile plant, but would suggest using a pulse valve such as made by Goyen for Fabric Filters. Thereby removing the need for the small ram and mechanism potentially giving an even more impressive action.

Good morning from NZ 🇳🇿 That is a great idea. Perhaps you could divide the pipes into sections. Front, back, underneath, left, right, or whatever. Then you only need a small tank and do the cleaning in sections rather than one massive blast. Might be a bit complicated with extra valves and solenoids, though?

A brilliant idea, maybe you could make a manifold to send the air to different parts of the baler so you don't dump all the air in one go. watching from Norfolk.
@pindropuk81772 ай бұрын
was going to say the same thing tbh. Set up the manifold to go to the different parts aka - left axle, right axle, chain guide etc. Then have a little controller to auto release the air in sequence to each part so first time it hits 120pis it fires at the left wheel, then in a couple of minutes when it hits pressure again it hits the right wheel, and then the chain guide etc. That way you dont have to manually click and it just ticks away keeping it straw free. I am curious if there is a specific psi to blow sraw off of grease without hurting the grease too much. could be fun to test sticking some straw down mythbusters style.

Do consider that those large pipes will themselves accumulate chaff etc on top of them. Its not inherently a bad idea, but personally more complicated than it might be. A simple pipe from the brake line with a tap on it for isolation on the road. Dab the brakes every now and then to deliver a blast of air to the critical areas. No fancy valves or electrical complication required

Maybe worth looking into pulse solenoid valves Tom-these are used to clean the filters in dust collection systems. Designed to give a short sharp burst of air, you could have a few mounted on different points operared individually so you can give each point max air instead of it dumping to them all at once

Watching from St.Catharines Ontario, just outside of Niagara Falls Canada. Done a pile of big sq and round baling in my early younger years so get the dust issue. Ya need a 30~50HP fan with like a 5 or 6” hose to create a giant vacuum as unless ya suck up and bag the debris / dust won’t go away… could also tweek flow from fan for giant blow off. Easiest rig would be a PTO driven fan unit for tractor. Tanks of air always run out mate. But bloody good fun blasting one off!

Nice idea Tom. While it’s still portable try stuffing a big potato or turnip into the blast pipe right down to almost the butterfly. The projectile needs to be bigger than the ID of the pipe so it seals. It will launch the tatties into the horizon. Great fun. As for keeping the machine clean, a blower unit driven off the pto of the bailer will deliver a greater volume of air at lower pressure constantly. This idea is used in process machinery to prevent the dust from settling. Anyway all the best to you Tom from Lanarkshire Scotland UK. 🇬🇧
