I installed this optic on a crossman 760 air rifle.I have now shot the riffle around 500 times during target/plinking practice, and the kzbin.infoUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope has done well.With this optic, I have neutralized around 30 pigeons that were invading one of my buildings.For my short range air rifle, I will continue to use this scope, but will be upgrading to a more powerful scope, when I buy a more powerful air rifle, in order to shoot at longer distance.For the money I have spent, this scope has truly been a great buy.

You can mount the scope on the receiver with the factory supplied rings for your Tikka T3. Using that method only allows you one position for the scope as one ring must index in the hole in the top of the receiver. Using the Picatinny rail, you have a totally sturdy mounting base for the scope, and one that is repeatable for remounting the scope exactly.

You can use any scope ring that is for a picatinny rail or a Weaver base. There is a huge supply of this type of ring on the market. We like Leupold PRW steel rings, and SWFA sells a tactical ring for a really low price that has worked well for us. Hope that helps!

Great rail system...I have several Tikkas, I am 'just' a hunter and so I have your basic scope on my rifles. I have found DNZ products to be outstanding. They are a smallish company out of North Carolina but have great customer service. The mount is a one piece base and then the top half of the 'ring' if you will. Very solid set up. Thanks for the vid, sorry I didn't see this one earlier...

I may be interested in getting this rail. The rings that came with my Tikka came loose at the base. A few questions: do the original rings fit on the rail? I also never noticed if my Tikka's receiver has recoil lug inlet. Are all T3 receivers tapped for that recoil lug? I mainly want the rail to elevate my scope slightly more so I don't have to bury my face in the stock.

Basically, the reason to get a 20 MOA rail is if you are shooting at distances that require more scope adjustment than your scope has internally. If your scope has, lets say 30 MOA of internal elevation adjustment, and the shooting distances require 40 MOA of elevation, the rail lets you start with 20 MOA of elevation before you even begin to adjust your scope, giving you a total of 50 MOA of usable elevation adjustment. Hope that helps!

Ok. One of the problems with mounts that fit directly on the rials is to get a set which centres the scope with the bore. Ideally the cross hairs should be exactly over the bore centre. Mounts need to be make for the rifle itself, model and all.

That recoil lug is key cause yea those screws are less than confidence inspiring. Ill probably order one and do some hack and chop on the ejection port. Blasphemy haha. Oh well. These really blow the competition away though. I wonder if they fit the tikka t3 lite.

We went back and forth about this and decided that a large number of shooters looking for this type of mount need some extra real estate for larger optics. There are instances in which the rails are too long, such as mounting in an XLR Chassis. We simply take the aluminum one and cut it down to fit. The steel ones are too hard to cut after the Melonite treatment. Thanks for the feedback! Keep it coming!

I recently bought a rail from you folks and have since mounted it on my Tikka T3X Hunter and love it. I'd like to use some low rings (vortex) with this and a vortex diamond back hp 4-16 (lines up perfectly for me with the stock I have). Thing is the front bell of the scope is resting on the front notch on this rail; how badly would I degrade the mount were I to grind that notch down a bit?

Chrome-moly dowel pins work well with cam and crank shaft engine block assemblies. Would dabbing the threads of the screw with a maxi type glue, (e.g., epoxy) add additional strength to the assembly? ...and would it be necessary to use the dowel pin on a rifle of less recoil? ( .243, etc.)
@mountaintacticalcompany

John Echterhoff The dowel pins were definitely strong enough, but we redesigned them to have a machined in recoil pin instead. Simple is good. The first run is sold out, but we should have another batch going within a month or so.

@mountaintacticalcompany
@mountaintacticalcompany 9 жыл бұрын
Will Mills Your Z5 is short enough on the "eye" side of the erector housing to get away with a receiver length rail (we'll have receiver length rails ready in the coming months), but many of our original customers were looking for extra length in the rail for their scopes. If you're using a longer scope- NXS, PST, SWFA HD, or if you are trying to maximize eye relief, your front ring will run into the front of your erector housing. By having the rail extend past the front of the receiver, we give you the room for more eye relief, and a wider range of long range scopes.

ok- to address any potential armchair commando nitpicking- while 4140 is not technically tool steel, when you salt bath nitride it, you end up with a hardness in the 84-90 range which surpasses the 62 rating necessary to call it "tool steel". Now if we started with "tool steel", we'd have to worry about treating it to account for the high iron content & rust, and also the higher carbon content & brittleness. By hardening the 4140 to a tool steel hardness, we get the required toughness of the lower alloy, and the hardness/ abrasion resistance of tool steel without worrying about heat in the milling process. We don't like burning up endmills.

what does the rail actually do and do you have to have one
@lonniecrook1684
@lonniecrook1684 4 жыл бұрын
No, you don't have to have one. The Tikka T3s have scope ring grooves above the receiver you can see in the video. I simply removed the factory picatinny rail and mounted my scope using a pair of Leupold mounts that fit those grooves perfectly and provide a very stable scope mount that keeps the scope closer to the barrel, with good eye relief and a lower profile to avoid snagging in heavy brush. The Leopold mounts were quite inexpensive and readily available.

Why wouldn't people just use the factory dovetail already machined onto the gun to mount scope rings? Nothing is stronger than that. Mind boggling
@mountaintacticalcompany
@mountaintacticalcompany 3 жыл бұрын
Why would people want to settle for subpar rings for their scope and limit the functionality of their rifle by not adding cant to the optic system? Mind boggling
@rskrilly
@rskrilly 3 жыл бұрын
Sportsmatch rings are a great option and many people use them on Tikkas. The scope cant craze is trying to fix a problem that doesn't really exist. Buy a good quality scope, a set of matching rings, lap the rings, mount it, sight it in, forget it. I've been doing this for years and never worried about cant and always had great accuracy out of my rifles. And if anyone is concerned about cant, you can find inserts anywhere on the internet

The Tikka t3 is one of the few centre fires to have scope mounting rails on the receiver top. Why not mount the ring directly on to these rails in the same way as is done on most .22 rimfire rifles? With such a set up there is only a joint on the rails and the joint of the actual ring fitting round the scope. That's only 2 joints in total. With your system, there is the attaching screws, the joint for the scope bases and the ring round the scope. That's 3 joints,
@mountaintacticalcompany
@mountaintacticalcompany 8 жыл бұрын
Val. you are correct. The issue is the lack of quality rings that will mount to the factory dovetail. Our goal was to produce a mount that was compatible with the plethora of Weaver and picatinny rings to chose from while minimizing the weaknesses multiple joints create.

for centerfire rifles, dovetail mounts have proven time and time again to be inadequate...Now i agree with you on numbers of potential 'weak points'.... DNZ Game Reaper mounts solve that little problem, and they look slick on a Tikka

swordsman3000, I have the DNZ Game Reaper mount on my savage stainless steel bull barrel .17 hmr, with a Vortex Diamondback 3-10x50 scope. Sweet set up, IMO. I got a great deal on a t3 lite .300 wsm, I've never shot it, I sent it out to have a muzzle break installed on it the same day i purchased the rifle. The research i did before i bought the gun said it kicked like a mule being such a lite rifle. Anyway, Is the DNZ strong enough IYO to handle the recoil. Putting a Vortex PST 2.5-10x44 on it. 30mm tube. Thanks for any feed back.
