The best time to offer Qiyaam-ul-Layl - Dr Zakir Naik
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) said its mentioned in Sahih of
Musnad Ahmad Vol. no. 6 Page no. 7 (Hadith no. 23963) the beloved Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) said that
"Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) has added one more prsayer i.e. the Witr. So pray Witr between Isha and Fajr"
That means the time of Isha is after sunset when the redness in the sky disappears, that is the time of Isha. So after you offer Isha you can pray anytime before the break of dawn, before the time of Fajr starts. This is the earliest and the latest where you can pray the Qiyaam ul Layl and as I mentioned earlier Witr is another name for Qiyaam ul Layl...

Something i believe that all people, especially us Muslims, should know about is sleep cycles. Sleep cycles are basically 1.5 hours each cycle (differs by a few minutes from person to person) and at the end of each one there is a moment where a person can easily wake up feeling fresh. Since each cycle is 1.5 hours long, 5 sleep cycles is about 7.5 hours and this is the recommended amount of sleep daily. I hope that people use this information to plan when to wake up because waking up at the end of a sleep cycle is the key to waking up fresh and energetic. So if athan of fajr is 5:00 am then sleep for 7.5 hours from 9:00 pm to 4:30 am so that you can make qiyam and fajr on time. So it is like first pray how many rakhaths you want in 2,4,6,8,10....and Soo on and then at last pray two more rakaths and 1 rakath withr. This is the way brother.

Reema Suzana no, taraweh is prayed after isha (it is a congregation prayer done in the mosque) ... and Qiyam ul Layl is prayed at night alone

Dear sis, for your kind information please note that tharaveeh and qiyamul layl are the same. Infact the correct term which was used in the time of prophet was Qiyamul lail ( which means standing at night) later a modified word was used and that is tharavih (Rest and pray- which indicated the rest people do take after first 4 rakath of prayer) !!! So both are same and most appropriate word is Qiyamul layl !!!

There is no strict rule to sleep and then read tahajjud And especially in the last ten days of Ramadan our beloved Prophet Muhammad SAW did not sleep at nights and he worshipped Allah all night He also kept his family awake in these ten nights And Allah knows the best
