Funny enough, French uprising around 7:30 probably was one of the major turning points of the entire war. You can clearly see how Germans push really deep into Soviet territory from 7:00 to 7:30 and then they have to relocate several divisions to France and consequently start quickly loosing territory.

I don't know. It looks like a few seconds before the french uprising the soviets had already started attacking and the axis sent mainly romanian soldiers, who were fighting in the center but no on the north.

I think that sometimes HOI3 was more fun than HOI4 for the simple fact of a game was never over. I remember playing as Germany and being pushed all the way back to Berlin by the Soviets on one side and the English were landing in Italy AND France but due to some miracle magic I still managed a win. The back and forth gameplay was just really fun.

The main limiting factor turns out to be manpower. As soon as you run out of manpower to reinforce your division, they rapidly become completely ineffectual. UK ran out of manpower and Germany pushed them out. Germany ran out of manpower a few years later (Soviets have pretty much unlimited troops)

@@alakazor9643 theater - army group - army - corps - divisions keep your corps commands near your divisions, armies a bit further back, etc commanders closer to division level give more bonus to the divisions, but the higher they are the more divisions they affect (ie a field marshall of incredible skill will have only a small effect, but over all your divisions, whereas a brilliant division leader will have a great effect, but only on one division)

I liked the visual look of HoI 3 compared to HoI 4 much better. I liked those square map counters, made it seem more like a wargame. Plus the flat map look also makes it feel much more like a grand simulation game. I never used the sprite feature in HoI 3.

As a swiss dude: our politicians knew they wouldnt have any chance resisting; as they were squished in between germany/austria & italy; but they also knew that the only way not to be sucked up into nazidom would be to stuck to the "neutrality"-thing (which wasnt even invented; its literally inscribed in our very law; since before 1900; that we may never take offensive action); but at the same time offering hitler to "store" his gold reserves as a neutral bank. Well; it worked out. Switzerland stayed unharmed; and as a side effect the banks just kept the gold when hitler died. So basically; our very basis of wealth & standards; is built upon the gold of nazis and jewish; and we now live in a wonderful land; forever stained bc its wealth literally sprang from overtaking the bloodsplattered gold from the "evil people" and allover being very opportunistic. Hitler once said; around 41: "Die Schweiz; das Stachelschwein; das nehmen wir im Rückweg ein" ("Switzerland; little hedgehog (bc of the form of the borders); we'll take you on our way back"); so it was clear to all swiss people that if he was successful in france/russia; theyd be next. Late here, but I'm not so sire about the air combat. On one hand I like that air units in HoI3 are, well, _actual air units_ displayed on the map with their specific current provincial locations and positions and that you can order them to bomb enemy divisions even when there is no land combat currently happening at a given location, but on the _other_ hand it is completely broken given how air defence and surface defense do NOT work at all and it is hardcoded, which means you can skip any and all techs that supposedly were designed to give extra durability to your planes while not giving a single flying fu-- to the defence debuffs that techs like fuel tanks give to them. Plus, ground attack duty from either Tactical Bombers or CAS Bombers seems to do very little to no effect per sortie and it feels like you'd have to way weeks after weeks to see any sort of noticeable effect and that is _if_ you have constant air superiority at pretty much all times. They seem to only serve a purpose for prolonged attrition warfare to wear down the enemy's manpower and _at best_ only have tactical value after bombing the same province weeks with no end to create a single weakspot for breakthrough in the enemy lines, which as Germany... isn't ideal at all and is not even historically accurate. So yeah, saying HoI3's air combat was superior to 4's can be quite a stretch.

HoI3 is the same timeframe as HoI4, paradox does centuries by games Crusader Kings 2 -> Europa Universalis IV -> Victoria 2 -> HoI 4 and you can use a save converter for a mega campaign, and if you want you can recreate your word in Stellaris to take to the stats and expand
