Beautiful tomatoes Travis and watching you eat that one reminds me why my son Danny won't eat tomatoes. When he was a boy about 8 or 9 yrs old he and his brother went out to the garden with a box of salt and ate a belly full of ripe tomatoes with plenty of salt on them and he got sick. I was at work when they did that but when I got home I had to clean up the evidence. Their grandmother who lived right next door to us was supposed to be watching after them and to her it was no different than what we did as kids, but she didn't let us take a whole box of salt to the garden, it was the salt that made him throw up.He loves things made with tomatoes but he will not eat a raw tomato,it has to be cooked in something. I love tomato sandwiches and just eating some sliced with a little salt and pepper. As a matter of fact I think I'll be having a tomato sandwich tonight.

Last year here in East Tennessee it was dry until July! Had some weeds! Now this year! More rain! The weeds have just covered the garden! I work every day! I pick vegetables every day. I string up plants and just do different things in the garden every day! I end up with little time for weeds! Add canning on top of that and the weeds have won!

Yup everything you spoke about is written in a garden Bible somewhere. I’ve put in a cover crop as you recommended, but Please send some rain my way so it doesn’t cook. Some weeds are out performing my cover but I refuse to let it go to seed.

Yep we have had the same amount of rain from the same storms and the weeds have really responded! I also dodged a few bullets and had minimal damage and things are looking pretty good under the circumstances! 😊

I’m in Florida and this fall I’m going all in with red snapper. Never tried the hybrid determinates before and that seems like the best one.

Yes, we would be swimming if we got 15" of rain. LOL The biggest problem I encounter with rain like that here, is root rots and white rot/Southern Blight at the soil line.

Boy that rain we got plus having to ramp up with my day job ended in slightly neglected garden this year. Just time to hunker down and get it turned around. Was wondering what you would recommend as for variety or mater to plant for fall planting and when would you recommend to start glass gem corn for fall decorations

I'd get that glass gem corn planted by mid August if not sooner. I've never done much with fall tomatoes, so not sure. But you'll definitely want to make sure it's a "heat set" variety.

Those red snapper and roaster maters look great. I have those growing as well however mine are over 6' tall. I was hoping that they would be shorter. Also I find that many fall off the plant and I need to get them up every day to save them. Any ideas? Also where did you get your seeds for these two varieties from? We have been having many a mater sandwich as well as BLT's. Great time of the year. On our way to Costco for more bacon. Great video as always. Keep it up. Thanks

I didn't catch the name of the tomato you tasted. You called it "a big Wisconsin". Is that the actual name of it? I am starting to consider a few determinate tomatoes and wondering which varieties are best for setting fruit during extreme heat? I am enjoying your videos a lot. Some real good practical information that I have learned myself over the years along with some newer ideas that I also have learned just in the last few years like the "shallow cultivation" and no till. Keep up the good work.

It doesn't really have a name as far as I'm aware. A guy named David from Wisconsin sent the seeds to us and he said it makes some big tomatoes. That's all the info I got, so I just started called it the "Big Wisconsin."

We usually have tons of rain down here, We have had quite a bit of a dry spell with temperatures skyrocketing. Was wondering about the mildews, you said you had none on your melons after all that rain which is great, are you going to proactively spray anything or let it ride and spray when you see something start? I

Dealing with weed of portaluca - that stuff is a survivor!! Should I treat it the same way? Also please update on your Louisiana okra- mine, like yours, was slow to germinate. Now slow to produce and it’s a pale green- never seen okra that color!

Portaluca, aka purslane, is tough because it can survive in really dry temps. It won't dry up and die like other weeds when you cultivate. I always hand pull that stuff and throw it out the garden. And yes, that okra variety is supposed to be pale green like that.

I’m tellin ya. Try some Red Bounty tomatoes 🍅. My Uncle grew maters his whole life. Once he found Red Bounty, he didn’t plant anything else. They’re right there with Red Snapper, or better.

I tried something new! I bought a little kids wadding pool! About a ¹/⁴th to 1/3rd of the way up from the bottom i cut holes on each side! About the size of 50cent pc.! Plants doing well & i haven't had too water yet! This fall when they are on marked down sale = i will be buying them for next year! For less $$$!

After the rain is dealing with the army worm attack and keeping things undercontrol. We are loosing the battle and tossing 1/3 of our tomatoes. Spi osad and beesafe products aren't getting us in front of the attack. Hep !

That no-till plot with the peppers has a lot of fungal activity. We get mushrooms popping all over the place when it rains a lot. We also get weeds though.
