This is amazing. I have a new piano as a surprise for Xmas,,, I have never TOUCHED a piano or played a note when I go along to see a tutor who offered me lessons £15 per half an hour (around $20 USA) I don’t think I can afford this and feel a little lost. Is it possible to learn piano online?? I can’t believe it is 🤷♀️😍😍😍

I was extremely thankful to open a Christmas gift this year, a Keyboard! I spent the week practicing Auld Lang Syne & was completely fascinated by the joy of the entire process. I had a mini frightening family performance hahaa. I'll be learning solo with a chord book at hand, simple song progressions & lots of patients. My Granda adored music and i adopted his passion as i grew up, to my hopes that one day i can grow my playing skills & play one of his favourite songs, Bridge over troubled water. Here's to a journey of learning!

Hi Lisa, I am 72 years old and am an intermediate guitar player and can read music a little. I have purchased last week an electric keyboard with 88 keys. Have discovered you on youtube and seen a few of your videos. I am retired and can devote at least 7 hours a week on learning to play piano. I have not looked at anyone else on youtube and keen to go with only one teacher. I look forward to learning from you. BTW huge Stones fan and loved your T shirt. Hamzah

The key concept is to not let that little negative nellie voice inside talk you out of continuing to put in the time. Trust me when I say that even on days when you feel certain that you are not getting anywhere, the truth is that you ARE, because each experience builds a new neural pathway in your brain, and when you return to the task day after day, you brain takes notice that his is a new recurring activity that is not going to stop, and it prioritizes this experience just like it did when you first started walking or adding numbers or chopping celery. Your presence at the keyboard tells your brain, "Hey! Pay attention! This is important!" A couple of months down the road, allow yourself to see that the things which were once "impossible" are not only possible, but you can now do them nearly automatically. That automatic ability is the ultimate brain training goal, and everyone's brain can do it. You just have to stick with it.

I have a few more tips for you guys, if you live in a confined space such as an apartment complex, busy area where you have heavy traffic, I suggest a set of headphones to help you, a common problem in learning any instrument is the ability to make mistakes often and becoming frustrated to the point of quitting similar to a very hard, mean sports coach. Another tip, pick a song that you know and finger pick it out on your keyboard and when you become more fluent, add a couple of additional keys whether in treble or bass that make your original one finger sound more rounded out. Another tip, look at any pianist or other musical instrumentalist as an inspiration to keep playing, they were just like you and me when they began their musical career, you with time and practice (10-30 minutes or longer) a day will give you a sense of accomplishment and the desire to keep at it. Another tip, use all the tools you have available, internet, possibly schedule for some classes, simple chord charts or whatever you have on hand to help you. Another tip, if you have the means to record your time playing on an instrument, this will give you immediate feedback on your progress and accomplishments and of course mistakes. About me, I'm not a trained musician nor can I read music but I do play by ear, all I have done on a keyboard is repetition playing and my first piece I learned was Moonlight Sonata 1 from my mom when I was 9.

Having been learning guitar for the last 10 months and just starting piano a few weeks ago, the easiest and most simple thing for me was learning the keyboard. It took me all of about 1 minute. Compared to the location of notes on a guitar, the piano is wonderfully simple, straightforward and linear. Now of course, playing it is a different matter. But at least I am not hunting for notes or forgetting where specific notes are. Also, having some background in music theory, scales, progressions, triads and chords and chord families from my time with guitar has certainly given me a leg up as far as basic knowledge that you need to know/learn while also learning how to play. I have my piano and guitar setup in my living room too. It is where I primarily hang out so that is where I need it to be to play...or see it every day and feel guilty if I don't practice....LOL. As for practice, I use the Faber books which has short melodies as I am learning how to play. I wish there were decent guitar lesson books available like the Faber books for piano. But the lady is certainly correct in everything she said......can't learn if you don't know the keys (it would be like trying to type a letter on the computer without knowing where the letters are on the computer keyboard). You are not going to play if your piano is hidden away. And planning out lessons or using a lesson book and melodies or songs is a great stimulator to keep going,

Again a wonderful video for beginner! I started my journey with Lisa and her pianonote team some months ago. It is very helpful, espacialy in these times and the team is great! I always start laughing, when Lisa speaks about the "musical alphabet" and "there are no other letters" - because here in germany, and I still have not found the reason why, you use "H" instead of "B". And because of Lisa I am now using the english names only - confusing my friends every time :D
@PianoteOfficial2 жыл бұрын
I always find that funny too! Lisa always makes a point of saying there is no H but there is!!!
@tanni3742 жыл бұрын
A restore mark (notation: Natural sign.svg) is used in music notation to restore a previous sharp or flat note of a sharp or flat to the root note. The same is true for restored notes in key signatures with accidentals. The sign is derived from the letter b, just like the sign for mole. The flat sign comes from the round b and the recovery sign is derived from the "square" b that looks more like an h (hence also the H in the German musical note name).

Hi! I love your channel and I've been playing the piaon for a few years. Had some lessons too. I used to play clarinet, flute as a kid. So my biggest issue with music is reading the F scale and mostly the higher and lower notes, and chords with these. I tend to forget very quickly. That's why I just learn songs by ear and not through sheets. Do you perhaps have any tips for me? I lost my enthusiasm because of this, because reading the music is more difficult for me then listening. Though if songs get more complex, you can't learn everything by ear. Thanks for your awesome channel!! Happy new year!
